LucyLee, I like physical photo albums too. I would be inclined to start with your box of labelled envelopes and put the contents into (labelled) albums, sorting as you go, and decluttering duplicates and substandard pictures. I know it's very tempting to want to have everything "perfect" and in chronological order, but you could always start an extra album for a year later on and call it "2022 volume 2" (for example) when you deal with the unsorted photos.

That’s probably the only good solution, Kitty.
I still might use photo boxes (the kind with dividers) for the less important pictures. Like — two or three pictures from the same show. They probably don’t ALL deserve album space.
