Homemakers are the ones who are on the lookout, watchful of their surroundings and monitoring home, hearth, household.
So much can be headed our way, but all of it doesn't have to be a surprise. What the calendar tells us, what we know from experience with the seasons, maybe a bit of a suspicious nature (smile), can all inform our gaze.
What do you see upcoming this weekend and beyond as you scan your horizon?

Re: Sunday, Scanning the Horizon PWYC
Up either too early or perhaps just for a while, over-reacting to a very hot night for which we didn't prepare the AC, or maybe a dream. Not a bad dream, a puppies dream, but one of puppies bumped his head, and it was my fault, and, yada, yada, yada. Puppies dreams for me, as ya'll know, mean I'm trying to juggle too much.
The heat of the house got me to wondering about the weather today, since my dds will be tugging me out with them (a good thing) and each of them will be individually vivacious and full of agenda. The "feels like" is going to be 90 degrees at 2 o'clock. I may need to insist that we change plans to be outdoors first in early afternoon and indoors later.
I also need to find a brimmed hat around here, hopefully one that is cool and light colored. How can it be mid-April (not even) and have a "feels like" like that? Goodness.

Re: Sunday, Scanning the Horizon PWYC
Thank you for starting us today Harriet!!
I am constantly looking ahead to see what is next, what needs to be done, where I need to go to do something. I have my tiny list on my desk which is right at my wrist at the base of my keyboard. Things get added and moved constantly. I didn't do any litter boxes today so I drew an arrow to today and added some exclamation marks. Those mean the job MUST get done. No more putting it off.
Right now all 3 cats are outside, and the kettle just boiled. Time for a hot cup of tea at the kitchen table and some stitching time for me before dh gets up.
Later...
Dh had his coffee and I had a cup of hot tea.
Bathroom and kitchen garbage has been taken outside. Kitchen garbage can is getting washed out.
1 of 3 litter boxes is getting deep cleaned.

Cathy, I'm smiling at your arrows and exclamation points.
What group do you teach, atlantic flyer?
Have gently rearranged the girls' plans to making the outdoor walking come first. Just gotta be that way. I found a couple hats that will work. If nothing else I can wear one of my cotton bucket type hats, but there is also a wide-brim. Just wish it wasn't black. Will keep looking because around here somewhere there's the soft-straw one I used to wear to "faires". I know another place to look.

Re: Sunday, Scanning the Horizon PWYC
I woke up at 5:30 today.
Slept hard last night went to bed at a decent time last nite.
We had thunder and rain yesterday so did not walk but did get my steps in.
I did not sweep or mop or dump trash... might have that wait till Mon.
Walk happened!
Morning chill her 46 / 61* it's dewy. Appreciating all my spring blooms.
Grass is growing fast in this weather here.
Listened to some music.
Alantic Flyer I remember you! Welcome back!
I've been stretching and waking up.
Wishing every one a lovely day.

When I took the garbage out I realized the conditions for burning some cardboard were perfect. No wind and it's overcast. I had 3 large boxes and 4 leaf bags full of cardboard and tissues and crumpled receipts.
I've done 2 of the 3 litter boxes. I'm taking a break and having brunch. Fried egg with a cheese slice on a bun.

Re: Sunday, Scanning the Horizon PWYC
Just updated calendar through 9 May, answering the short-term question of "what is ahead?" This week, at least two evenings out (Th and Fr) and possibly a third on Saturday. Two workouts, body work, a CDG renewal group meeting - there are two meeting scheduled, could attend both or one.Dh and I need to decide if we're going to the minor league game on Saturday night, invited to a box hosted by developer of the property. Also ball park on Thursday night. Do we really want to be out three nights in a row? OTOH, it feels like an honor that this guy invited us.
We have three more weeks at home, and then a beach week. I'm basically home two weeks, then another genealogy road trip to NGS conference in Fort Wayne IN. I need to do some prep for research there, I know the library will be busy. I've already requested their equivalent to a library card for out-of-town genealogists.
Dh and I are bickering about what time we're going to river today. I've said I can't leave dog all day, thought we were talking about going late this a.m. and not coming back until after dinner when dh and V have a Zoom meeting together at 8 p.m. He went on, I'll drive separately so I can return to see about the dog if needed.
Goals for the week:
Outside:
-ferns potted up
-purchase geraniums and a "filler" for those pots, and basil to go with tomatoes
-get sprinkler on (High today mid eighties, no rain in sight.)
Research
-make myself a listing of the needed research on each generation of Whitten/White family
Personal:
-Talk to doc about my hurting knee? X ray?

Re: Sunday, Scanning the Horizon PWYC
Good afternoon!
Aflyer! How good to see you! How have you been?
This will probably be short -- DD is very excited about a special online event going on -- some YouTubers she follows are having a charity livestream -- and her excitement is making it hard for me to concentrate. Laundry is my big plan for the afternoon. I'm still working on the glut of DC's clothes DH helped them send down the chute... was it just last weekend? Probably Friday or Monday? At any rate, I'm no longer keeping up at a load a day. I've got another batch dry and ready for DC to fold and put away and should start on a new one. This is becoming my problem because I don't have an extensive wardrobe, and my stuff is caught up in the backlog.
DH is working outside and every so often comes to the back door asking for something so he doesn't have to come in with his muddy shoes.
Ah, thanks for the reminder, Twins! When DH is done outside, I need to sit down with him and compare calendars.
Our water just got delivered. (I like the flavored water.) I think DC is opening it up and putting it on the shelves. I should go help -- and then go down to the laundry.
Have a great day, everybody!
