Maybe it's just three weeks, Tuesday, Harriet? That's right, isn't it? I've lost track of time. It seems like a month. * whew *
I think it's the same w/my ddad. But my goodness, he is seeing enough doctors, I guess... so I'm not too overly concerned about him. I will be glad when they get all the tests done and know what they need to be treating!!! I know it is driving him & my dmom crazy. He is in close contact w/family doctor, cancer doctor, and now the lung specialist and infectious disease doctor... and all of these are based at larger hospital -- about an hour's drive away -- but MUCH better equipped than our local hospital where dfil is.
Don't get me wrong -- we are VERY pleased with the care dfil is receiving at local hospital. No specialist in the world is going to restore dfil to full health; we realize that. It's just a different situation from my ddad. Our family doctor has to be the most patient, caring, kindest person in the world... and all the nurses in ICU are just as good. We feel very confident that everyone is doing all they can to keep dfil as comfortable as possible and keep a watchful eye on him. If he left the hospital in the same shape he was before he came in, he'd still be bedridden and pretty much helpless. So it's a sad situation.
But in ddad's case... we DO hope to have him back to full health, of course. He is REALLY getting sick & tired of feeling sick & tired, so they will leave no stone unturned in getting him back to full speed. The travel to & from and the endless cycle of appts is exhausting, but I feel sure they WILL figure this out before long.
