WOW! Cowinkie, you said it all! Actually my dh's mother was the same -no one could ever please her and she never gave a compliment that I ever saw -except a 'backwards' one -especially for dk's. It's funny because I'd decided tonight I'm not doing anything special -it'll be what it is. And actually I'm pretty pleased with things right now. The only thing I really want to do is straighten the washer closet in our bathroom -for ME! It'll be just usual sweeping & dusting from there on. I'm satisfied right now.

I've been on a roll organizing and cleaning out -originally started because of dsisil coming but the more I did the happier I am. And I know that's just the ol' decluttering/cleaning making me emotionally feel better.

Heading to bed now as soon as I finish cuop.

Since we were talking about female heart attacks today... (or at least I was!)

Dh is going to be NOW because he doesn't want to be up any more. I, of course, am not overly tired, having laid around for 5 hours today, sleeping for 2 of those and being relatively quiet for the times I was up.

Anyway I did this for YEARS until it finally dawned on me that they were in MY HOUSE and they needed to respect me.

Courage Dee, courage...if she complains or gives you a hard time...give her a list of motels and tell her where to find them.

I AGREE!!!

I'm ticked.
Very
Ticked
But
trying not to be.
It doesn't change a thing.

DGS15 txt me after school and asked if I would buy him some paper for school. They started school and got their supply list last Friday. Neither his Dad or his Mom took the older DGS's shopping to get the basic school supplies this weekend. Grrrrrrr.... DGS's little sister picture was posted on FB proudly displaying her new school clothes/supplies. Treating one child in the family differently than the others just doesn't set well with me. One gets new clothes, new backpack, new new new new.....the other children don't even get a .87 cents pack of paper.

Repeat after me. Let it go.... Let it go..... You can't change other people..... Let it go....

ANYway - my 2nd trip in 24 hours has been made to town to buy school supplies and basic clothing needs.

I also ran into Lowe's and grabbed gallons of polyurethane. The living room floor refinish is happening soon!

I just finished cuop from yesterday and today. But this will be a quick note as we have a line of thunderstorm going over right now. The rain is coming down in sheets sideways, lots of lightning.

Wanted to say Happy Birthday to Bittersweet! Hope you had a good day.

I was quite concerned reading Harmony's posts. My first thoughts were to say to go to the dr. as soon as you can. Dh had some of the same symptoms and he had the rapid heartbeat, although with him, he couldn't feel it. That made him extremely tired. He also had a blocked artery which gave him discomfort.

We were out this morning for dh oncology/blood dr. appointment. Blood test there was satisfactory, next appt. is three months. We decided to take a ride to the big indoor mall at the north of our city. We walked the whole mall one way on first floor then back again on the second floor, stopped at the food court for a quick salad before coming home.

OKay, I like the way you've been cleaning. When I deep clean like that I have to move furniture to the middle of the room; our rooms are too small to put everything in a different room. When our kids were young I took the two weeks before school was out for the summer and deep cleaned each room, decluttered/straightened closets etc. Then again the two weeks before Christmas holidays did the same thing, all the rooms. Then the rest of the year was maintenance and monthly cleaning. Gave me a lot of extra time to enjoy the summertime with them. After we moved here to FL and I was working I had to spread it out a little more, but it still worked well for us.

Kathryn, you're getting a lot more done, even resting in between jobs, than I do when I'm sick. Thanks for posting the heart symptoms lists.
Bernice, hope ((dd7.1)) is feeling better.
Dee, glad dgs7 is okay.
((Harriet)), glad you had a good visit with family. Wish things could be a little easier for you with ddad! It's not easy to clean in circles.

Had more greetings to send, but I'd better turn computer off now. Storms are back. Oops, one more thought ------ OKay, you are so wonderful for dgsons! I know it's hard to keep quiet and not say anything to the parents!

Okay...sometimes I just don't understand people. My parents did the same thing, only it started up when I was a young adult and first married. Every thing was my poor son...I've never been angry at my brother because it wasn't his fault that my parents showed favoritism towards him. Even my ex-dh would complain about how they treated us so differently... This last visit I asked my mom why its always been this way....still is btw...and she just said because your father and I never felt like we had to worry about you.

Your dgs's are lucky to have you in their lives. At least they know one special woman thinks they're wonderful even if others don't. And that makes a huge difference believe me.

Hi everyone, it's another late check in for me. I had good news from the dentist. The cracked tooth did not need a root canal/crown or an extraction/bridge. It was caught in time most likely. (There is still a small chance that I will have trouble with it, but it certainly is not troubling me now).

Since Monday is errand day for me, I went to the grocery store. Then I did massive amounts of cooking. I had all 4 burners and the oven going! This way I can just grab lunches from the freezer. I cooked rice, green beans, bacon (needed the grease for the beans), cube steak, cinnamon rolls, lemon herb pasta. I still need to complete the kitchen cleanup, but it is mostly done. I also ran a LOL of laundry with my newly repaired dryer.

What I did not do today is any job applications. I really need to. There is not much out there and it is very discouraging. Gotta go clean a catbox and take a shower. See everyone tomorrow.

Ooohhh... survived the first day nicely. Exhausted, but had a pretty good day. First days usually are pretty calm.
Pretty chaotic outside my room, LOL, but everything seemed pretty good inside my room. Except for the moment I completely lost my train of thought and had to just say, "Well... I have no idea where I was headed with that."
Sorta enjoyed grins w/dteacher friend at the thought that this was our LAST FIRST DAY! I think I may be getting used to this retirement idea, you know?

Waaay too much to really respond to here but some thoughts jumbling through my head include --

(((Harmony))) Pay attention to Kathryn and Sunny and PLEASE do get to a doctor SOON! I am saying that as politely as possible. We've got too many folks sick in this village and you ALL really MUST take good care of yourselves b/c we need you here!!!

(((OKay)))
Thinking about what Cowinkie said. I have often felt that my dbro got a little better treatment than I and I know my dparents would say it was exactly what Cowinkie said -- they never felt they had to "worry" about me. * sigh *
I am sooo impressed w/your cleaning routine, OKay. I cannot imagine actually doing that here, but it sounds sooo nice to have EVERYTHING so spotless for once! BIG WTG!!!
I on the other hand, must admit I resemble Sunny's remark:
Kathryn, you're getting a lot more done, even resting in between jobs, than I do when I'm sick.
(((Dee)))
Thinking about what Cowinkie said... WTG, and amen to that. I know I don't often follow that advice myself, but boy... what good advice it is!!!

So glad you got good news from the dentist, Elizabeth! I know that was a huge relief!

Happy birthday to bsweet!!!

Have to say I LOL a little at the picture of Harriet vacuuming over her ddad... (((Harriet)))

Ta-da's for me:
* reconciled checkbook statement on the day it arrived, and balanced on the first try!!! Big hurrah around here. ;)
(Not that the balance is anything to cheer about -- it's been quite a month -- but at least the bank & I agree about how much is left!)
* talked to dparents on phone
* Wmart, CVS, cleaners, dmil visit
* sorta walked-away-the-pounds for 20 minutes

I wonder if I can remember any of the replies I formed in my head as I read along.

Kathryn, I did read that bit about R. O. Including all of people's snarky comments afterwards. I am finding all of this troubling. I need to get off top dead center and do something.

I have so many directions in which to go. My records are all over the place. One dr. moved up north, one doctor retired. I need 2 new ones. The one where my heart arrhythmia was diagnosed has said I am no longer a patient because I don't go every year. So I no longer even have a GP. The dermatologist is another. I felt a wee bit better today, but still I did nothing but a rather involved proposal for DH, which seemed very hard for me to accomplish. I slept for a couple hours on the couch after eating some rice for dinner.

OKay, that's really hard to watch stuff like that happening to people we love. They are sure lucky to have you. Good luck with the floor.

Well, that's all I can remember. Oh, (Harriet) just a hug and to say I wish your life was a bit easier right now.
