Home from temple and actually glad that I went, after all my complaints today. I've been there everyday this week starting with last Sunday, except for Tuesday.

An older couple who are members came in as the service ended - they had somehow gotten their timing wrong, and they were there to say kaddish for their granddaughter, who as a teen died tragically in a traffic accident two or three years ago this week. The accident was on Yom Kippur morning, also. Thankfully, dh realized why they were there tonight and alerted the rabbi, and several of us stayed after, went on the bimah (the raised platform at the front) with them and the rabbi and all recited kaddish together.

Very moving demonstration of community - what I have been talking about as president of the synagogue.

WTG w/enduring medical tests, Dee! (((HUGS))) Glad all is well. I need to have mammogram done. * sigh * It has been about 5 years, I think I told y'all. The procedure really doesn't bother me as much as it does some people; I just have sorta a FEAR of getting bad news + the idea that I have no family history of breast cancer so it's easy for me to procrastinate. I know that is not really an excuse. Doctor once told me that being female is #1 RISK FACTOR -- so shouldn't put off having it done.

I've always wanted to write... but I'm kinda too self-conscious to try. I used to be sorta known for my creative writing in high school, and some of my friends still tell me I can write my novel when I retire... but... nah, probably not.

I've really been on a roll today, and I am finally beginning to feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel @ school. Not re: retirement -- just getting all the misc. "to-do's" out of the way! It has just been incredible this six weeks, I think. Some of these were completed b/c I have wonderful student newspaper staff members, but it sure helped me leave today w/my desk a little clearer and my HEAD a little clearer:
* updated lesson plans for coming week, and included the oh-so-important #s for "standards"
Can't remember if I posted lesson plans on website...
* all money turned in and receipted correctly
* list of students w/various permissions/restrictions etc turned in to proper person
* monthly attendance cards checked and verified, turned in to proper person
* completed a few last minute sections of the insert page of newspaper
* filled out the "self-assessment" (how I will improve myself for coming year, yada yada yada), turned in to proper person
* students completed sales letters for elementary school students & copies of insert page for np
(We do individual notes for our elementary school students to take home, so their parents will send $ for them to buy paper -- 27 per class for 34 classes. None of the elementary classes have that many students, but a few have 26, so we err on the side of extra. 500 copies, back & front of insert page for newspaper. The other 20 pages are printed professionally.)
* wrote up disciplinary slip for student who has accumulated 5 tardies in the last two weeks
* threw away a LOT of old papers/etc and re-filed a LOT of stuff to clean off desk
* picked up clothes @ ironing lady, helped dh put away
* went to CVS w/dh
* talked to dmom on phone
* visited dmil w/dh
* talked to dsisil & dbil on phone, coordinating use of dmil's van for tomorrow
* ate supper
* took a nap

I think we're about to go see the new Clint Eastwood movie.

Yes, LucyLee, fear of 'bad news' is a big factor, no doubt. I was not happy to realize it had been 5 years for me too. That doesn't seem possible. So much has happened in that 5 years that I'm not surprised that they told me it was that long. I will honestly try to do it again in a year -though I am determined to research a different way for me to go. Will ask the Dr about it when I see her in a few weeks. I'm about as chicken as they come. Think partly because I have had some major surgeries along the way and am still troubled as the result of some.

Talked to dh for a little bit today. Said he and DS-R were very happy with dgs7's day. Best he's had. DS was on his way to Philadelphia airport to get ddil#1. DH was pleased to hear the results of today, though I had not told him I was going in. I just didn't want it on his mind today.

Going to hit the hay and hope I sleep somewhat well. I'd take benadryl but I'm too groggy in the morning when I do. Have a hair appointment at 11 about 25 miles away. Need to go 20 some miles from here in the opposite direction early tomorrow afternoon. Have to pick up some custom made materials for dh at the lumber company there.

Ds and I chatted for a bit. I sorted through the mail that was piled in the kitchen (I'm sure I'll find mail in other spots as I tidy tomorrow.) Emptied the recycle bins, made bin liners for the city compost container (we get a free paper but because it is free, it doesn't come all the time so when I have lots on hand, I fold up bin liners.) Sorted through the bookcase in the kitchen and moved a lot of books to the basement where they belong and tossed cruise brochures from 2012.

You can see a bit more of the kitchen surfaces. Not a lot but a bit so that's progress.

Ds needs to be out of here by 8 to meet up with friends and pick up the race packets, dh by 8:15, but both unfed so we'll have an early but manageable start tomorrow.

Looks like there will only be 3 extra for dinner tomorrow night. We'll do the two chickens I bought plus pasta and stuffing. I read they'll need carbs and easy to digest foods so they aren't uncomfortable on the run. Ds thought his run started at 11 on Sunday but it starts on 9 so my plan to meet up with my nephew might work (he's in town, working at an animation festival but might be free for breakfast early on Sunday.) If I'm up at 7, I can stay up until 2 and I only need to be up until 1 if ds finishes his run as he plans, so that means I'll have time to meet my nephew for breakfast.

BIL is on some new type of drug for type 2 diab. and it's helped him loose wt. and get chol. under control thinking I should check in to it!

Dinner yum deli chicken dinner was excellent got another meal from the deli chicken w/ salad and corn on cob. Six meals from the $6.88 pkg. of it! Saw a green giant TV advertisement saying add one more serving of veggies to you family meals that is very doable! Veggie omelette yum!

H. is off tomorrow I'm still going to do some of the things I had planned, go to the farmer's mkt. and lib. for my book as they are right across the st. from each other h. will work on the doors for the chicken coop. A church we used to attend has a clothing exchange I'm hoping to find some grubby jeans there as well maybe one of those crazy fun holiday sweaters too.

Walked & shopped and a half mi. stroll around the loop my exercise for today.

Dee, You should get a star for getting your mammogram and bone density test done!

Kathryn, That's so cute about searching for the kitchen table.

Elizabeth, That sucks about having to get back into job hunting. Good luck on that.

Harriet, What color or colors will the new fabric be on your couch and throw pillows? I bet it'll give your room and entirely "new" look.

Twins' Mom, That's a shame about the accident, which killed the teen. I'm glad lots of members stayed after to help them deal with the anniversary of their granddaughter. It means a lot to people when others are there to support them, like you and the others did.

Lucylee, I write short stories for magazines, but am trying to break into new markets at other magazines, too. I have some Nook books on my Nook about e-reader writing and publishing. I plan on reading those "how-to" books over the winter because I sure would love to start writing for e-readers. People sell short stories, novellas, collections of stories or poems, and it just sounds like a lot of fun to try something new. It's worth a look-see to see if I can/really want to do it.

When I logged on here, I read everybody's messages and one of you mentioned probiotics. I searched through the messages here again, and that one's disappeared, but I'm thinking it was you, Dee, who asked? My dr. has me taking probiotics twice daily as well as eating yogurt, too. On Sunday, it'll be my (maybe!!!) last day of antibiotics 4 x daily and if my ear, scalp, and neck look okay, I can go down to twice a day until they're gone. I'm hoping that Sun. will be the last day of taking the 8 pills a day. I'd love to get back on track and be a normal person again.

Ta Da:
1- I got out dishes for dinner, suggested to DH (who cooks dinners) what we could have. It was delicious meatloaf, baked sweet potatoes and garlic bread. Yummy! ♥
2- I put away my clothes, which DH folded for me. Isn't he sweet? ♥
3- I wrote three short non-fiction features and sent them off. I forgot to write (seasonal) on one meant for Dec., but in the cover letter email bed, I mentioned Dec., so I might be okay.
4- I got out my list for my PODA and ta da for tomorrow.
5- I fixed weekly medications.
6- I put my nightgown on my pillow. Oh! That sounds like my pillow is now wearing my nightgown! My gown is laying across my pillow. That's what I meant to say.

Now I think I'll read. I have a book by Lawrence Block, called "Telling Lies for Fun and Profit". I think he'll be very informative. In the intro he said that the chapters are from his columns in "Writer's Digest" Magazine. It's a great magazine, so I'm looking forward to the book. I'm about on chapter 2 or 3.

My ear looks better, too. I'm so glad! If it looks better on Mon., my dr. said I can cancel my Tues. appt., which means I'd have a week free of appt.'s! Every since Sept. 4, I've had an appt. every Tues. I guess I just love staying at home, reading, writing, puttering and enjoying all the wildlife around the house, than to run into town. I'm a homebody.
