Okay... okay... (not the person, the sentiment.) I will REALLY, REALLY TRY to GIVE IT UP!!!
And I don't think ddil is taking my frustration personally at all, b/c she wrote & promptly mailed thank you's for shower in her hometown. She is just putting her foot down re: the fact that ds should be present and cooperative in writing thank you's for HIS friends/family here.
And like Harriet, I think ds & I are open enough that I can say WRITE 'EM to him... BUT... that does not mean he will do it. :P
Soooo... deep breath...
I appreciate the Northern philosophy, Kathryn, ;) and Harriet, I certainly appreciate another Southerner saying
TY notes are not paramount.

-- Cause I was thinking maybe it WAS a Southern thing and that was why ddil wasn't as fed up w/ds as I am.
BUT I WILL TRY REALLY REALLY HARD TO GIVE IT UP.
When I want to mention it, I will pray about it.
When I want to worry about it, I will pray about it.
And y'all are right -- I must pick my battles, and (as MT said) -- I am doing what I am supposed to do... Ishould not be judged on this -- people know I write thank you's promptly. I wrote to all the hostesses within a week of the event, anyway! And I wrote thank yous for all dfil's funeral flowers. (In dmil's name, but most people in our circle would recognize my handwriting, anyway.)
Young people ARE different, Ivy, and I couldn't even remember if dnephew had written a thank you to us for his (generous, for us) graduation gift. DH said he had not, but if I couldn't remember, then maybe most people don't remember if ds/ddil have written theirs, either.
Thanks to all of you who have tried repeatedly to give me a reality-check on this issue...
I'm sure I can imagine what dIndiana would be saying, too...

WTG, to Harriet's ds!!!

I have plenty of ta-da's for the night but no time to say them... I'm only here b/c dfriend interrupted my grading papers and asked me to send a couple of school-related e-mails. This week is
* Homecoming
* Report card week
* 2-hour meeting tomorrow morning, taking me out of class
* Walk-through/high pressure visit from Bd of Ed Powers That Be
* AND -- week that I've got to prepare for substitute for 2 days at end of week
Yes... it is kinda crazy around here right now.
Tomorrow is another day.

Kathryn, I hope you're feeling better. I napped today and I'm afraid it'll mess up my bedtime. I napped on Sat. and was awake until 2 a.m. :( I guess you need to baby step your day and go between activity and rest, the best you can, but it's hard to not feel guilty when I'm doing that.

I helped DH empty the DW today, but didn't do laundry or much of anything except computer stuff. I feel like I've wasted the day, but got a lot done in the morning hours. From noon on, it went downhill and I rested, worked on a story and sent it.

We ate microwave dinners, each had 2 German chocolate brownies after our dinner, and now I feel stuff and guilty for eating 2 because I ate 1 after lunch. I guess I'm on a roll. I guess an indulgence once in awhile is allowed as long as it's not daily or 3 times daily, having treats.

It's time to write tomorrow's to do list. It'll be a cool morning again, so sweats for morning again. Might be 39* in the morning. How cool is it getting in the mornings up there for you, Kathryn?

Cathy, I don't think we have Swiss Chalet's here in the states. :?: It's great you cleaned the storage area, too.

Twins' Mom, I'm glad the shelves got anchored. Do you do a lot of office work at the temple? :?:

I'm off to see what old movie DH has on. Sometimes they're good on Sun. night.

Have a great night, Everybody! :D

Ivy I understand the guilty feeling. I wonder if is interfering with my sleep at night. And if I take time to catch up with someone on the phone or on the internet or to do a Sudoku, I feel guilty about 'wasting' my 'up' time.

My Achilles heel is always paperwork and I'm basically going from crisis to crisis at this point. For instance, I just spent 85 minutes writing the report for my meeting Tuesday night. I had to dig through stacks of papers and still haven't found my notes from last spring. Thankfully, I emailed a summary of what happened then to the Minister so was able to go over that email to jog my memory.

I wonder if the sense of out of control on paperwork is adding my trouble with sleeping at night. In the day when I nap, after a short sleep and an hour or two of rest I'm ready to get up and get going. I'm wondering if my body wakes up in the night after the same amount of rest and then my mind starts worrying about all the stuff I'm not getting done and that keeps me from getting back to sleep.

I'm done for the day now. Will end the day with over 6700 steps so that's 2x better than yesterday. Maybe that will help me sleep too. I won't count on it though, and will take melatonin.

Good night all!

Tomorrow I have to pick up the back yd. I have some of it done. Wash and clean the chicken waters and the chick feeder I found at a yd. sale today a friend stopped by and told me about it. So we stopped working on the netting and went to that. They had old hens for sale at the yd. sale but they were no longer laying and in molt they would be for butchering. I got to see them and the hen house so that was fun.
We have the hen pen done except for one small piece of wire and a bit more painting. Feels great to have progress. No eggs have hatched out did not really expect any until after today any way glad I did not stay home to baby sit them!

We went to the movie "Total Recall" at the cheap theater enjoyed having
the break from all the work around here. It was good a remake of arnald S. in one earlier we'd seen the other one too I liked this one better I think and did not fall asleep in it like h. did except for one scene rated PG - 13. I did fall asleep in the one last weekend we saw.
Did a store run for a few things we needed for dinner and h.'s lunches.

H. grilled burgers for dinner it was great the smoke finally cleared off enough so we could do that and it was great to see the stars this evening.
