Mystery, thank you for the book recommendation. I found the book on ebay. There is a 1995 version and a 2008. Do you know if there if significant new info in the newer edition?

hopefully mailing presents today so that they arrive early
ordered a present that won't be in until December 12th. Then I can mail it right away so that my dmom can have it for Christmas Eve as she no longer comes home because of the cold.

Home from shopping. Picked up two Angel gifts for preschoolers and then got to the general store and they only had teenagers left so I picked the oldest and will get him a gift certificate and some candy. Then leave the toddler gifts as well with the organizer and she can either send them to an appropriate family within our area or direct them to the city. There were far fewer children this year which seems to be a good thing, although it might just be a demographic thing that the families are growing up and younger families can't afford this area any more.

Baking cookies for ds because that's what he feels like.

I wish now I hadn't procrastinated reading East of Eden. It is an excellent book, very well written, not just in a wordsmith sort of way but also in terms of themes and characters. However, it is so densely written, that it is slow going, and I don't want to miss anything so I occasionally re-read a line to make sure I've mined out all the meaning and symbolism I can - first pass. I'm sure I'm still missing a lot. . .

I have to stop reading now. Girls are home. I'm going to spend 25 minutes tidying up and then leave with dd14 for her her oboe lesson. By the time we get home again, it will be after 6, time for dinner prep, dinner (just leftovers tonight), prep for book club and then friends will start arriving around 8 pm. Book club will run until a little after 10, probably. That will be the rest of my day.

Thanks for the mirror tips! I'll let you know how it goes. I'm going to make sure the bathroom is socially acceptable next.

Wondering about skipping a nap today.

I had 2 cans of pop with caffeine (one pepsi, one dr. pepper) and have now got a second wind. My legs and back were very sore after Presbytery because I was up and down movie videos from shelf to shelf. I had to shop holding onto the cart and walking unassisted was agony (I think my boots which have low heels were adding to my discomfort plus I had used slippers at Presbytery so no proper shoes.) I skipped the last stop and the thirty minutes in the car with the heated seat relaxing my back and leg muscles seems to have renewed me.

In 30 minutes from coming home I had baked 2 doz cookies (should have been 3 but I made them big.) Gotta love using cake mix to make cookies - just the mix plus oil and eggs and then add whatever you want for an extra so I made one dozen plain sugar cookies and one dozen with Skor bits for dh. They would have been done in 20 minutes but my oven isn't big enough for two cookie sheets on one shelf and I was too tired to think about moving the racks around so I could put two pans in at once.

I've also put away the upstairs groceries (the pantry in the basement needs inventorying so I'll do that before I put the downstairs groceries away) and moved the shopping bags back to the car.

Actually, typing all that has made me tired! So I guess I'll have a rest after all.

I worked up a sweat pushing all the slush off the driveway. We don't need that to freeze tonight. It's too early in the season to let driveway become a sheet of ice.

One lol completed and put away. Need to start chili for supper. Swiffered the hard floors (using cut up t-shirts instead of my usual microfiber cloths). Decorating continues...stockings are hung, though not by the chimney. I love the C ommand adhesive hooks. Bought the replacement strips yesterday as I already had plenty of the hooks themselves. Now I'm rambling...

helia, I mentioned your mirror to HRH and he says, "put Cocacola on it". Maybe the phosphoric acid would cut the oil/smear like it does on a car windshield? This idea may need some thought - would a soft drink hurt a mirror?

It's a new day and new yr. for me dsis it's her bday today.

Did any of you see the pink SHE's car they have over seas Tokyo I think it was.

I've done a big stack of she cards today trying to get the house back in to order. Granny duty is under way here glad it's early in the week and I have another day to do cards still undone.
