Cool Cowinkie! Another person who actually knows - and gets - Flannery! I don't know if I've read Ray Bradbury, maybe I've read a short story or 2. Yes, I like my book club b/c it makes me read books I would never pick up on my own. That was how I discovered Flannery O'Connor, through a summer book club run by one of our pastors a few years ago.

The rice and chicken was very good! And it was good to see everyone tonight. We had the full Thursday crew over.

Oh, Kathryn, I hadn't realized you were concerned re: Ken's memory. ((HUGS)) Maybe he is just tired. Yes, I hope the tests bring good news.

Nothing is happening outside yet. It will be fun to go to bed and see what the world will look like in the morning.

Happy for Emptynester and Elizabeth in good finance news today.

Harmony, lol, well it would certainly make a negative difference to MY health if I set a precedent of agreeably getting up in the middle of my night's sleep to work in the kitchen. My father has a strong personality and is loud enough to shock everyone out of bed, but in reality I can't let that compare to 3 alarm clocks counting down to before-dawn whether the household is ready or not. All the rest of us wandering the house yawning trying to think what's the right thing to do in the face of nonsense is bad news. We need to get back to reality fast and I'm (usually) the one who can do it. So I say "no" and insist on pointing to the darkness outside, and logically say it's time to sleep, so we can all try to salvage what's left of our schedules. I can and will argue those points and be firm, and I know we're better off when I do.

Because I couldn't do that last night, everything went out of whack. HRH lost sleep and had a tired day because of his theory (however kind it is) that my ddad should be allowed to believe as he wants and not be challenged. My ddad had several more bathroom trips because of drinking liquids at midnight, and they disrupted his sleep. Today he's been "zoned out" because of that and much more confused than usual, with a shuffling gait. Thankfully, I think dd14 got back to sleep quickly enough that her school day felt normal to her.

Tonight was the AP night at school and she and I went out in the rain to listen. We see some possibilities of AP classes she might take. And we learned more about how the schedule for upcoming years will go. A boy there who was manning the AP Art table texted her to come over and that made her so happy. He is a very good Manga artist and I evidently did just the right thing to notice his most ferocious looking character. I really wasn't kidding - gorgeous art which I approached saying, "Ah, the good stuff!" which made the students there smile (let's face it, the rest of the tables were boring compared to them!). I tried to say something halfway intelligent about each piece. One girl defines herself as a grayscale artist, yet does her portraits in torn construction paper. I honestly didn't even "get" the concept of her medium until she explained it so difficult!

The authorities told all those Grammy Awards Show women to cover it up and not be sticking out all over the place like it's some type of lingerie fashion show! It's about time!

Well, AMEN to that! I wish so badly that the fashion trends would change! We have a constant issue at school re: CLEAVAGE... and now, re: LEGGINGS. Some girls are trying to wear leggings that are basically thick pantyhose. The old fuddy-duds among the staff (I am one of the fuddiest duds, as you might imagine) just keep wondering, "WHAT are their mothers THINKING???"

I am just about to rival Mr. Dickens for wordiness tonight! Oh my...

First girl grandchild makes me think about daunt, too... Her first grandchild was a girl, but she was followed by 6 boys, and one step-grandson... so when the great-grandchild arrived and she was a girl... that was a big thrill for all of them, too. (Of course she is going to be spoiled rotten by all these guys treating her like she's a princess, you know, LOL!!!)

(((Ivy))) re: IBS. Dmom (and I) suspect I might have a touch of that. Dmom worries that I might develop Chron's someday, b/c she has it, you know... but my stomach troubles are generally tied very closely to my emotions. As long as my head is okay... my stomach is fine. However... tonight, for example... hamburgers w/onions + ice cream cone... no... can't eat that and take too long getting back to a bathroom.
Guess that might be TMI.
Y'all probably wish I'd taken care of the laundry a couple of posts ago and signed OFF...

I've been working on a bag I crocheted the bottom and changed to knitting the upper part it's going well time to do another color change on this part
of it now. Going to get back to it.

We've had rain here since this afternoon hoping those in the path of the storm are okay.

Hello again! I am back from art class and have printed and delivered DD's party invitations. She can take them to school tomorrow. I had a massive spill in my car from some leftover Chinese. My coat had to go to the laundry immediately. Fortunately, none of my crochet was damaged, but I had to throw out a ball of size 10 white yarn. I still need to do cat care, dFosterCat13 is really leery of me now. I have decided not to take her to the adoption clinic Saturday. Her fur looks terrible because she drools after the medicine and she now has knots in her fur on her neck. I have not heard back from the vet on her stool sample, but I didn't need anyone to tell me there was blood. Guess I should do cat care, put away the LOL on the drying rack, then crochet/video until the coat is done washing. There is probably something else I need to do but cant remember.
