Thursday writers.

Post by Lynlee »

Its Charles Dicken's birthday today and Alfred Alder's too. Both are men who made a ground breaking difference and left a legacy for others to work upon.

The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this: that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists.
Charles Dickens

my day
readings
brushed my teeth in morning. And used sunscreen foundation.
load of washing done, in and waiting on my bed to go away.
support group - 3 *shock* new people - slightly challenging.
bank & shopping. I bought a wrench to see if I can undo gate thingo and have a go at a fix. top bolt screw has rusted thru.
Spent more than anticipated, but bought big bottle of fish oil, a replacement fan for the one that suffers from clicks, and a smaller torch for evening dog walks. Among other things.
phone calls.
walked 3k
dinner
got my worst scores at luminosity. I think being fresh counts for something.
I've missed doing dishes. Dishdrainer is empty though.

I think I'll call it a night for LR.
good night.
Hope ya'll have a productive day.

btw - feel free to change thread title please mods. I was thinking of Dickens -

LynLee - Dickens is one of my favorite authors of all time. Sleep tight and sweet dreams.

I am up and dressed, but still need to finish my SDR & GRWR and get out the door in 30 minutes. I finally got my Laptop for work so I need to set it up when I get to the office. I have class tonight after work.

Good morning! Thank you for starting us off, Lynlee. I like all those quotes; I was thinking I would declare one my favorite, but I don't know which one it would be. It is Thursday morning here, and I believe Thursday evening where you are. I like Dickens a lot too! I went on a Dickens kick and read several of his novels when I was in high school.

Have a good day at work and then class, scattered.

I like the ribbits, Harmony!

I have done the usual by this time and added an item to my weekly li&t: Friday morning, I will be picking up ds to take him to Walgreens to get his prescription and then by our house to pick up a sleeping bag for a conference he's attending this weekend.

Today:
-a.m. routine
-moms group; maybe meet to pray w/ dfriend S2?
-library
-finish shoveling the driveway
-gym? elliptical trainer
-more cards in the mail
-pile on the desk
-house tidy
-cook for dinner guests tonight. I think everyone is coming! It has been a long time since we've had a proper Thursday dinner gathering. I'm making: Costa Rican chicken and rice, corn bread, green beans, maybe a couple sweet potatoes. Dfriend A is bringing a salad.
-dd14 to and from synchro practice
-host dinner crew!

Looks like a full but good day here in helialand. I hope it is where you are too!

Good Morning!

LynLee - Thank you for a great start! I'm like Helia in that several of those quotes could be my favorite. excellent selection to start the day.

I'm listening to DH counsel our pastor on the phone. Pastor called early this morning to discuss his sermon last night. Our Pastor is a young man going through a many life experiences that "typical" pastors don't. No matter how much he messes up (we all do) his passion for his life calling is never doubted.

I've decided to keep LO home again today. I wonder if sending him to school on Monday might caused a relapse. I want to see LO return to regular eating and activities for a full day before deeming him well. Hopefully this slow pace will help with the mental/emotional stress he has gone through the past couple of weeks.

My morning has gone well. Working my schedule is starting to show results. I'm seeing improvement in several areas (desperately needed).

Good morning. Day wording is changed, Lynlee, although it doesn't take anybody special (yawn - I do not feel special this morning) because you as author can also edit your own thread title.

Very first quote is one I love and have shared in The Creative Home before. Isn't that a good one?

Kathryn and family will like the first Adler quote.

I am bleary after being up for hours in the night. My ddad thought it was noon at midnight and shouted to find us, and I jumped up too fast, rushed too quickly, argued the time, then felt spinny-woozy. What is that? Blood pressure changed? Also lost sleep because HRH stepped in then, put me back to bed and took over. Good, but his decision, totally against my wishes, was to just let it be noon and prepare a meal as my ddad wanted. Auuggghh. I worried about that until I just didn't sleep at all, because I don't give him food or liquids at such an hour, but mostly because it wasn't addressing reality. Anyway, HRH said I wasn't allowed out of bed unless I agreed not to try to talk again, "even if your father says everybody in Ethiopia is blond with blue eyes". So I lay in bed and pouted.

HRH just walked back in the house, which scared me a little (we have a door alarm bell). He says he cut his day short because he left me in the bed asleep (true and unusual - I went back to bed after the school run) and wanted to make sure things were alright but didn't want to call. Sigh. It's amazing how one thing leads to another. He says he can work from home some.

Positive note is that Gen Prac honored specialty drs opinion immediately and renewed my thyroid prescription without any input from me. So glad their nurses and receptionists are doing their jobs well, lol.

(((Harriet)))) such difficult moments. My heart goes out to you and your family as you love your DDad well. I recently watched a couple episodes from last year Grey Anatomy show that dealt with Alzheimer. I don't know if the show storyline portrays the disease properly, but it did make me more aware. It presented several aspects & decisions the loved ones of alzheimers patients have to face that I didn't realize.

LO requested blueberries & applesauce for breakfast, however his stomach wasn't in agreement. We are back to crackers . ***VBSigh*** Otherwise he is full of energy - practicing his ball bouncing, energetically playing the drums to songs on the radio, etc.

We took GD to school and I came back and took a nap. Woke up during the night with this cold so awake off & on.

(Harriet) you're always in my thought. Hate going through a day feeling like a zombie -some are hard enough without feeling like that.

Dh is working on new shelving to put in the laundry room. He has the shelves made & painted. Cleaned off the top of the cabinets this morning so he can put them up. Now he, dsonil and I are all 'resting' for a bit. I cleaned off the coffee table (a lot of 'stuff' -some gd's but lot from a box dd was sorting the other day). Took off the winter runner and put on a springy one. Then I vacuumed (again). Cleaner stopped running just as I finished yesterday. DD discovered last night that it was clogged near the top of the cannister. Works like a charm now.

DDIL sent me a picture of DGS 6months that she captured as she walked back in the living room. One of him, evidently having pulled himself up on a 'table toy'. Looked very proud of himself. Love those bits of sunshine! First that he's stood I believe. Actually he'll be 7 months in a few days. How the time flies. They're having such a good time with him and I love being able to keep up with his development through the camera's eyes.

Think I'll read for a bit and then head for the kitchen. Actually I'm pretty hungry. DD asked me the other night if I'd go on a "Daniel Fast" with her -one of just giving up that one thing we'd go to when we've gotta have something. Sweets for both of us -at least through Lent. I'm seriously thinking of cutting out cheese as well. Have to wonder what difference that will make in my day to day weight.

Good morning. I like the Dickens quote. He sounds very focused doesn't he? I'm not a huge Dickens fan, I read some of his stuff in 2011. Those old writers were so wordy! If it could be written in 10 words, they found a way to write it in 87!

Rushing along here as usual. DH couldn't reach helper #2 today (I suspect they monitor their phones and if they don't want to go to work that day they don't answer him  ). So he is here catching up his paperwork. Which means I was helping, typing up statements and proposals. Got all that faxed or emailed out and off my mind.

DH cleaned out his office bookcase with all the catalogs...another huge stack for the recycle bin over the next weeks; it is too heavy to do all at once.

I think all my cleaning out around here has rubbed off on him a bit!

Going to go work on my bible study..I have 2 going at once right now, my Thursday night one with the women and our small group one and I am behind on both. Tonight is a prayer meeting at church I have to attend as I have duties there so I'll miss one of the studies, but still need to keep up my workbook. I think our Sun night one we're doing something similar to what Nancy is looking at...and I'm not liking this one, but I didn't pick it, so....

Harriet, I'm sorry for your upset last night. I guess you think it makes a difference that your DDad's life stays more normal, with meals and times and such... but in the total picture, if he is getting rest and nutrition, is it worth the arguments? Yeah, I'm sure there's a whole lot more to it than it seems. Such a difficult life we have as we age. (Hugs). HRH is a gem.
