Yesterday was Patch Tuesday. They must have released a slew of updates. It took my laptop 52 minutes to download and install all the updates released for it.

Supper was homemade chicken salad served with 3 options of carbs (chips, crackers or bread). The meal was simple but received great reviews from LO and DH.

LO has done his homework and we have read his book together. After giving him 30 minutes to do some online lessons for school (readingeggs.com) we are going to visit DMom until time to start bath/bed routine.

Dsisil called and they want to meet tomorrow at noon. Yikes! I will need to turn the jets on now. I was thinking she had changed her mind. Gotta go..................

Hello.... yes, sad news day that seems to go on and on and on...and nothing else much on tv. It always is sad to me, reminds me of DMom's funeral which we had right on the anniversary of 9/11.

Texting with Sunny today, testing is scheduled for tomorrow. DBiL was able to be up a bit, pain meds helping. Sunny practically hangs out at the hospital whenever she can, with her crossword puzzle book and kindle.

Another bad day here, much sleeping, I seem to be slipping backward! At least the house is clean from my efforts this weekend. I need to get after the laundry, thinking I should just use the dryer and not attempt hanging up. I'm going to pick the brain of dr. at my appointment tomorrow; however, this is not the dr. who takes care of my thyroid, so I don't anticipate a lot of help with this. Book from library tells me wonky thyroid people have an inability to get into deep rem sleep, hence the always tired feeling. I believe it. I was in bed practically all morning and a big nap this afternoon. This is getting SO OLD.

Nice seeing Dee here. Yes, good idea trying someone else's wify to see if that's the problem.

Has anyone here put a lazy susan in their fridge. Came across the idea today and am about to go measure to see if my lazy susan will fit (it is extra large and designed to go on a patio table so has a hole in the centre for the umbrella.)

So much for that idea. It fit. But I'd have to lower my shelf a bit because the added height meant the OJ container didn't fit. Before doing that, I tried spinning it. It wouldn't budge. Took off a few things and it spun perfectly. It is 18" in diameter but can only hold the weight of 1.5 quarts of milk, two 20 oz bottles of water and a mostly empty 1.5 quart ice cream container (which I'm using as a grease jar.) Anything more and it won't spin so the spinner took up more room than the items it held.

I am going to bed at midnight, no matter what. I hope to have the upstairs done and can do the basement in the morning.

Speaking of going to bed early, I'm on my way. Won't be early but won't be super late either.

Got kitchen counters tidied. Did up the "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" jigsaw puzzle. The puzzle/game didn't sell in the garage sale so I'm going to put the finished puzzle under the plexiglass of my kitchen table. We always have a world map there.

Dh had me out on the porch to watch the 'light show'. The storm was so far away that we could only see the sky light up all across the horizon but no thunder. Now the thunder is making itself felt. We sat out there waiting for the washer to finish. He had to stay up until it was done because I can't carry the wet clothes right now on stairs. I can barely carry myself. At this point, I'm back to last February for the state of my knees.

Oh, Harriet ----- you caught me!!! I wanted to post more here also, but was too tired to say much more than hi.

Patch Tuesday..... sometimes my laptops don't update until the next day, which is today! I'll bet it will take a long time tonight when I shut this one off!

Harmony, I'm glad we texted today; thank you for posting an update on dh for me. I hope you get some good helpful info tomorrow.

Oh, since Lilac and Cowinkie have mentioned motorcycles here this week I must tell: On Monday, just before dh and I headed to the hospital, ds#3 called. He never calls during the day as he gets to work about 6:30 - 7 am. So when I answered the phone the first thing he said to me was "I'm all right"..... (he always greets me with "Hi Mom!) He was calling to tell us before we saw it on FBook that he wiped out on his cycle on his way to work, on I95 going 45 -50 mph, just as he was to get on the HOV lane. My heart fell! It seems that the car in front of him put on his breaks suddenly and ds had to do the same. His front break (front wheel) locked up and wheel wasn't turning so he just laid his bike down and slid to stop. He had heavy pants on so I guess his legs were not scraped, but he had only his leather vest over a thin long sleeved shirt. His whole right arm was scraped up (I saw the picture on FB later). Another bike rider stopped to help and the guy who slammed on his breaks stopped to help. I am so thankful that he is ok and no one else was hurt! He now has some work to do on his bike.

Dh will be having one more test tomorrow. The pain meds and steroids are working so he is able to walk better - although he is still on bed rest, but he was able to get washed up and had some P T. He's getting bored! We've seen lots of doctors. They are trying to eliminate all possibilities before treatment for the stenosis and two discs. Thank you so much for all good thoughts and well wishes for him!

Harriet, I hope your dfirstsisil is doing well after her surgery!

I also found out yesterday that the youngest of the two girls we grew up living next door to had hip replacement surgery yesterday.

This has been sitting long enough and ddogs want out again!

Oh my, Sunny! Those phone calls that start out with "I'm all right..." are always nerve-wracking, aren't they?
So glad it wasn't worse for your ds!

I have not watched any national news coverage today. DH has been playing golf today and DS & I walked this afternoon, and for most of the rest of the day, I have worked on thank you notes for dmom. ALMOST finished, I think. Ran a few errands in town, visited dmil, did a load of laundry, talked to dmom on phone.

I know I am not doing the thank you's "correctly." I want to sign all three of our names to my personalized note -- dmom, dbro, myself -- and I know that is not correct... but I am doing it anyway. For people that I know sooo well that they are almost like family, whom I expect would recognize my handwriting even, it just does not seem "right" not to refer to "Daddy." BUT... I don't want to leave out dmom, so there I am, referring to "Daddy" and then signing his two children's names, AND his wife's name. I know that is not correct... but maybe people will forgive me. After 4 months, people will just be amazed to get a card. * sigh *
If it someone that does not really require such a personal note, I just sign all three names w/dmom's name first.
And in the interest of overdoing everything completely, underneath the printed funeral home message, where we fill in ddad's name, "The family of ___" -- on that page, we are signing, "Dmom & family, Duncle & Daunt, DotherAunt & family." (Dmom set that precedent on the first 25-50 or so that she did.)

Back from an evening walk, had my flash light & saw a small a snake on our walk. ACK!
Hens are all tucked in for the night. It was 99 * here today.

I got the trees along the west fence line pruned back to our
property line. I still have a couple of trips with the wheel borrow of branches to get them out of the back yd. The morning coolness will be better for that.
