I saw my friend/neighbor. I feel so sad.

Her little doggie got cremated a year ago Dec., I hadn't known, and when she started to cry, I put my left hand over her hand, patted it and squeezed it. Then, I began to cry, too, because the little doggie was the light of her life, her beloved companion, and it all hit me, why my friend had gone downhill so quickly. She got two tissues, I got two tissues, and I brought one home, as DH drove me back. He'd come to get me and I had a good cry all the way home. What I did today was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. But I'm glad I did. I feel so emotionally exhausted.

She loved the items I crocheted her. We had a lovely visit, although she'd gotten time-lines, ages of my kids and her kids mixed up. What a love. She has a companion, she says, which is her paid-for caretaker. I'm delighted for her. I've decided to return in a few weeks, with some crochet and just sit and chat while I crochet. She laughed so much when I told her of some short stories I'd written, which were comical romances. She said she'd love to read some, so I thought, during one visit, I could read to her.

She gets mixed up, but has that lovely soothing voice, when she's the one who needs the soothing, and a wonderful laugh. Now I don't feel so bad, but more glad I bit the bullet and went and look forward to seeing her again, too. I know it will be hard, perhaps, but with crochet and reading stories, where can you go wrong? It'll make her smile. It was lovely to hug her and get a hug from her, too.
And
Harriet? Remember you said this morning how the burn-out might go away?

Prior to going today, I outlined 2 stories. I'd come up with 4 good January titles last night and I'm having such a delightful time outlining them.

I think my friend, focusing on her and not myself, my stories, my paycheck, my-my-my, broke the burn-out because now I feel freer. Happier about myself and others.
DH is putting together a wonderful pot roast with mushrooms, carrots, cauliflower, potatoes and that's it. YUMMY FOR MY TUMMY!
Have a nice evening, Everybody.
