Moving on oven is preheating for meat pies for dinner. Thanks for listening. I called and talked to the mgr. About the steps to let him know we are not happy. I think h is on his way down to talk to them.

I did do some things right today trying to focus on some of the better things now today. I took a bag with my reading and knitting, brought home free popcorn for the hens. Remembered my afternoon med dose. Hens were happy to get the popcorn.
In light of the stuff on the news the book I was reading was stupid. But sometimes you just need a stupid book! LOL!

The sun is out. Dinner is in the oven.

Exhausting day. It is just 9 here but we left Unc's an hour ago.

Tomorrow we are taking him down the South Shore so need to get sleep.

We visited, then left him because neighbours were coming in. Because it was a gorgeous day, we took the ferry across to Halifax and walked a couple of miles along the waterfront. Then came back and headed straight back to Unc's, meeting up with my cousin and his wife and son and we all had a great steak dinner at his favourite restaurant.

Back to the house to eat cake (provided by the neighbours) and his care worker joined us (she is there 2x a week but calls daily, even when on vacation, to check up on him and on her days off goes on adventures with him.)

We had a good visit and then all left (she stayed behind so we wouldn't all leave at once.)

I picked up water and berries for a snack. Dh was distracted and didn't listen to my request for the store so there was bickering in the car. Turns out his phone picked up email somewhere during the afternoon and there was a long email from dd so he was anxious to get to the hotel to read it. At the same time he didn't want to tell me while we were at Unc's because he didn't want to ruin the evening.

She's not well. So now I'm here, she's home and there's nothing I can do. She did include her brother on the email so perhaps he can be a support in my stead.

I can't even get Skype to work although I'm not sure phoning is the best idea right now.

In completely other news, I was invited to apply for a job as interim Presbytery Secretary. Not sure 1) I'm qualified at all or 2) I have the right skill sets but is it a compliment to be asked. It is a temporary job currently open ended, but may not end before I have major travel to Australia and I also have 2 trips in November. So I said thank you but no.

(((HUGS))) for Kathryn's dd and all of you... I can't even imagine how frustrating and disappointing all this must be.

Also (((HUGS))) for Nancy & dh...

(((Helia))) -- I'm so sorry to hear about your dmom, but sounds like they'll get her fixed up and maybe she'll be even better than new! I know people who have had great success w/stents also. I can also understand your concerns about your dbro and his dd... certainly hope you don't have to worry about that for a while now!

* Glad things went well at doctor's visit today, Dee!

(((Harmony))) -- sending lots of wishes for a better day for you tomorrow, too!

Elizabeth -- I do not have text messaging either -- dh doesn't want it. (Somehow, in previous experience, I somehow got a recurring charge on phone bill b/c of text messaging mistake. I have no idea how this happened, but when it did, we blocked text messaging completely. It is sometimes very frustrating, b/c people will say, "I sent you a text," as if I am the one who did something wrong by not replying.

Waving to Twins... blessed... and EVERYONE ELSE!!!

I have been ironing today... also walked 2 miles w/ds... caught up on some tv programs while ironing... talked to dmom...

Dmom. Get this:
DS told me he talked to her last night, and she revealed her latest "adventure."
She had doctor's appt in town 25 miles away last Thursday. She only goes to this town for doctor's appts w/this one particular doctor. All other shopping/etc is done in other town, 25 miles away from us in the opposite direction.
She arrives for appt @ 10:45 a.m. She is told appt is actually at 1:00 p.m.
She realizes her last appt, for lab work/etc had been at 10:45, and this appt card (to discuss those tests) was stuck on her calendar right beside the old one.
So, she is not upset... she decides she will go to Wmart and then eat lunch and then go back to the doctor.
Sometime later... she is HALFWAY HOME when she realizes she had forgotten all about the doctor.
Good grief... now why did she think she was in this town anyway???
AND -- even more disturbing -- apparently she had not even called doctor to explain her No Show. She told me when I talked to her today, that she would do that TODAY.
Good grief.

Did anyone see my question from last night? Anyone have any ideas?
COMPUTER CRISIS :?: Y'all, why do you think my computer is sooo slow when we are trying to watch or listen to live broadcasts? It just buffers and buffers and starts and stops and drives us CRAZY. We have talked to the AT&T people and talked and talked, and of course, they've been out here and worked on our wiring twice, and we recently replaced our modem. Is it the computer itself? What should I be checking for? It is driving dh insane. It is sometimes very slow w/other sites, like sometimes dh cannot get onto his comic sites on the desktop, but he has no problem using my iPhone to connect. Sometimes the iPhone is slow, too, though. I am just so sick of talking to phone tech support people (whom I generally cannot understand, anyway.) So frustrating.

CUE HALLELUJIAH CHORUS LOUD!!! I got official notice of my job offer!!! It was in an email rather than on paper, but that is ok, it was directly from the hiring manager with a salary and start date. It is midnight, so obviously I have not replied yet. Interestingly enough, they are assuming I am taking the job. While it is my only offer right now, I am hoping to get an offer from the interview on Monday as well. (I thought I did really well there). I hope they get back to me fast. The start date is 27 Oct. Y'all are the first to know. For one thing, I am NOT calling anyone else right now. If my parents got a phone call from me at 1 am their time, they might just have a heart attack too.

In other stuff, the X took care of swamp cooler winterizing and heater turn on, and did the procedure in a way that I was able to take notes. These notes will be transferred to the computer, maybe with diagrams downloaded from the net or even my camera. It was done in time for me to get to church dinner and Bible study. On the way, I returned the X's hat, which he had left. I have worked on the costume: the fray check on the skirt is done and I have started pinning the box pleats. I also did some updating of the church website.

helia: I am not sure if a student can really prepare for PSAT/SAT/ACT. You can take a few practice tests, just to get your timing figured out, but by now the knowledge is either there or not. I did realize one thing when I took them: they are really biased in favor of kids who like crossword puzzles! Great for me, but I'm not sure how my fellow students liked it.

blessedw2: Move the print into your bedroom. Not only will it not be gone, but you will see it even more.

PS: I think I will celebrate my job offer by getting myself a couple of presents. I'd like a pair of glasses that do not have scratches and I have not redone my will since the divorce, nearly 3 years ago. (Our original wills specified a trust for DD12, and the provision in case of divorce was that the trust fund would behave as if the other partner died, so it was not completely unhandled).

wonderful dElizabeth
dlucy.. sounds like your dmom just has short term memory loss. She should get that checked with you there - it is not unusual in advancing age.
