Happy New Year to Twins & Cathyy!

Can't stay -- a fussy boy is exhausting his dgdaddy...
He's been pretty good all night, but sometimes after he has a pretty big bottle, he gets gassy and/or hiccup-y, and he just can't be satisfied. DS says he also notices that he (dgs) is beginning to fight sleep more -- apparently b/c he is enjoying being awake, more! But fussy or not, of course we are enjoying having him!
I do wish ds & ddil would get their thank-you notes written before this baby turns three months old!!!
I am just very embarrassed about the whole thing and cannot believe they are taking this long.
They got some really, really nice baby shower gifts, and there are some people that haven't even received a casual face-to-face thank you (b/c they mailed gifts).
DS and ddil are sooo good about sooo many things... but this little detail is driving me crazy!

Lucylee which would make you look worse - letting people think what they will about ds, or, what they'll think about you if you write those thank you notes for ds? This isn't your responsibility. They are grown ups. It is their reputation. Let it go.

I would, however, write all the thank you notes for letters of condolences, flowers and donations to charity and tuck them away somewhere so ds can just stamp them and mail them off after you die. Otherwise, that task might not get done by them either and you don't want people thinking ill of the dead!

I'm getting ready for bed now. Took my shower and am giving my hair a chance to air dry a bit. My body aches badly tonight and I'm chilled through. It isn't cold here (low tonight is about 59, high today was almost 80) so it must just be me. I napped with the heating pad on to relax my tense muscles this afternoon and will probably need it to fall asleep tonight. I'm making note on my temperature chart to discuss this with the doctor, as it seems to be a worsening symptom.

I had to LOL, Kathryn -- I apologize if you were being serious! I mean, how could I know who to address the condolence thank you's to? So...
But you are right... gotta let it go... they are grown. Maybe the good will they have from most folks will over-ride the ill will they create for appearing to be ungrateful.

Sitting at the ice rink waiting for DD to finish practice. It is looking like the team she's on is going to fold; this is the second year in a row that this has happened. This team is at a rink about :25 from our house, as opposed to our local rink. The next most likely team is at another rink, about :25 from our house in a different direction. It would be an all-girls developmental team; I don't know if they even play any games out. There's not much girls' hockey as such around here.

Home now. Yep, her team has definitely folded. Poo.

Anyhow, this evening has been busy. Got home from the pickup run, started the shirts on a fresh rinse & spin, got DD situated, started pasta going, and had a snack. Flipped the wash, brought ingredients upstairs, set a timer for when to head down to the dryer, and started making clam sauce. Timer went off; had to get DD to keep stirring sauce while I hung shirts -- told her to let me know when it started to bubble. I hadn't finished the shirts when the sauce started bubbling, so back upstairs to finish the sauce, drain the noodles, and toss all in the crock to keep warm. Then back down to finish the shirts. After that, time to head to our church/the girls' former school to pick up our Market Day order.

Unfortunately, the usual steps down to the church hall/school cafeteria are blocked by equipment being used to work on the church roof -- or is it stonework? Maybe the latter -- they just finished repairs to some of the stonework on the school before classes started. Anyhow, this meant going in to the other end of the church hall, but the sale was still set up in the usual place, so we had to carry the boxes much further to get out of the hall, and then we had more stairs to go up, just so we could go down about 5 of them outside the church door. Bleah. Got home past time that I already wanted to be at the Squirt practice & hastily shoved food into the freezer. Told DD to help herself to dinner and spend half an hour tidying her room while I went to the rink. (The tidying is supposed to be :10 per day, but it's backed up a bit. Wherever from would she get the tendency to procrastinate? )

Went to the Squirt practice -- little point; my main reason was to introduce myself to families moving up from Mites, but the head of the program was meeting with them, which he said he was going to do -- and then said he wasn't going to do. Guess he changed his mind again. Ended up talking to another hockey mom after practice -- her son plays on the Squirt 1 team; her daughter may end up heading to the same girls' program that DD is likely headed to. Got home just in time to throw some linguini into a container & into dd's lunch bag (hey, she's not using it!) to take to the rink; got DD there in time to dress. Ate at the rink (first, I realized that I'd forgotten to throw silverware into the lunch bag, then I realized I probably had fast-food plasticware in the glove box; fortunately, the linguini had congealed enough that it was possible to eat it with a spoon!), then spent most of the rest of the time mulling over with the other parents there the question of, "So, where do you think you'll see if you can get your kid on a team?" Busy, busy day, and I didn't get much done around the house.

Harriet, if I had my druthers, no job would require a man to wear a shirt and tie unless it paid well enough that he could afford to send his shirts out to be washed and pressed! However, DH did notice that I had done the shirts and stopped to tell me, "Honey, you're the best!" on his way carting them upstairs, so I guess it was worthwhile.

Yikes! Almost 11 here! Need to make sure any remaining linguini's taken care of before it permanently fuses to the crock and see whether the dishwasher needs to be run (and remember to turn it on if it does!). Then I guess I'll pack it in. Still a little too wound up to sleep, but I'm definitely tired & could use the sleep. Maybe I'll work on a puzzle till I get drowsy. 'Night!

I have 80-90% of the chicken run painted with the first coat and boy does it ever look better than I thought it would! Gave two more tours of it today and we are getting compliments on it. Dgd youngest helped with the lower parts and she did pretty good for for a nearly 4 yo.! It was actually fun after getting those compliments and interest. [Hoping dson or dd will take pics. so I can share at some point maybe after we actually have some chickens lol.]

Dgson's friends down the st. have a chicken they keep at their grandparents too it's out of state a few hrs. away.

The house needs more digging out but that's not going to be tonight.
Granny duty is over.
H. is in bed it's a big day for them tomorrow.
I'll be busy with more painting trying to get the first coat done and dry.

Whew, I am wiped out and have to be in at 7am... need to go to bed.

Dove ~ That cake plate is very pretty. WTG finding such a good deal.

Irons, eh? Well, y'all know I rarely iron except for when I'm sewing. I even downgraded a really cute knit top to a sleep shirt because the band around the neckline needed pressing before it could be worn in public, and it wasn't cute enough to be worth that much effort!

You've all made me regret not being here today! Looks like so much was happening...I stayed off computer and painted.
Planning to do that tomorrow, too.

Must say HAPPY BIRTHDAYto blessed and HAPPY NEW YEARto twins.

Dove--Love the plate...I have a real weakness for old dishes. I like to hang them on the wall sometimes.

Mystery--I hear you about the 100% cotton shirts. DILs used to always send DH one of those for his birthday. Those were always sent to goodwill before their time. I let them bless someone who likes to iron.

As for ironing, I avoid it if at all possible. Glad to see I am in good company here with that.

Kally--Glad your mother is better. Night owl here, too. But I do like early mornings in my old age!
