Originator: Krekler
Group: Lactiflora
Date: 1965
Country: USA, OH

The bright attractive mid season Japanese type flower form blooms open a wine-pink and very slowly fade to a pretty pale pink. Its large numerous flowers are almost a foot above its wide dense bush on upright 35 inch stems. The broad gay pink shallow bowls hold a wide shapely mass of very showy petaloids. Their bases are a light greenish-tan and their tops are a pink that fades to lavender. Their tips are clear bright golden points that twist. The pistils are pale green with whiteish tops.

Oh my, helia, now you make me think my DH may actually not be a workoholic after all (he "only" works about 50-60 hours per week, but he has the same 1 hour commute plus he tends to also work in the evening, answering questions that come through their chat app). How was the play?
gma, prayers for you and your dear friend!

Tuesday. DH left - he's driving DS to the train station and then he's driving over to his mom's. With the twins gone till Friday, it's gonna be just me, DS and DBD - I have to remember to scale down dinners! :-) There's rain in the weather forecast, so if I want to mow the backyard, I have to do it early, before my 9am online course starts. There's plenty to keep me busy indoor should it actually rain in the afternoon - DH's big party is next weekend and I'd like everything to be clean and decluttered by the end of this week and next week just do maintenance.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for introducing us to another beautiful paeony. I hope you can get your mowing done in time. We have a dry start today. So far...

Gma, prayers for your DF BS. Over here, patients in hospice can often have their pets come to visit. I'm not sure if it's the same where you are, and whether your DF would find this helpful?

Helia, what a good idea to have taken out on the patio - beautiful surroundings and minimal prep and clear up.

Bama, when does DH plan to retire? I'm also in this "count down to retirement" with DH, and what I've learnt so far (which much help.from ladies on this board,.who have either gone through.or.are.going through the same thing) is boundaries and flexibility. Also, because DH is retiring from work does not mean he's retiring from all responsibility! Some of the jobs I've had done round the house this year, I've requested DH be there to welcome/ provide tea etc/ for the professional. I tend to do the actual setting up of appointments, as I have the list.of.contact numbers and know what needs doing. Curiously enough,.when Matilda pulled out and them chewed through the tv aerial cable some months ago, DH showed his true capabilities. It was on my list as something to get fixed "sometime" as a fairly low priority ( I dont really watch much TV, and then it's mostly streaming services) but DH decided it had to be done "now" and found an aerial technician, booked the appointment and attended, all in a couple of days,. and without me having to raise a finger!

Dogged, you're a very good Mum to Germane, and how nice to be able to stop and chat to people.

Today I want to clean the remaining windows if it stays dry. DH is WFH and has gone for his walk. I'm a bit behind today as Matilda decided 4.30 am was a splendid time to wake up and greet the morning. Fortunately I did manage to get back to sleep, and persuade her to do likewise

Peonies are so pretty, L Ann! Will you start packing today?
trissie, enjoy the day with 1 child at home! Maybe both our dhs are workaholics. Dh also works in the evenings. And on weekends. And on vacations. The only time he won't work is when he is forced to disconnect, like our backpacking trip in the Northern Michigan wilderness where there's no internet connection/ phone service. But - I think his job is deeply fulfilling and enjoyable for him, at least many parts are - not all, of course. Maybe it's the same for your dh!
Kitty, were you able to clean the windows? I would dread dh retiring because he has a lot of energy. I think he can do a soft retirement, though, and continue with an office and lighter responsibilities at the university. Dh has mentioned starting to diminish his research programs - but he is in some large projects with multi-year timelines with other faculty, sometimes at other universities, that he cannot just pull out of or decrease.
Will say a prayer for dfBS, Gma.

Today, on the calendar: I have an 8 a.m. work out session and coffee with friend K at 2. I would like to make progress on guest prep. I need to return a pair of shoes and buys pillows. helia, DH enjoys his job very much, but his ADHD also means he can hyperfocus. And he's a perfectionist and he believes nobody does it as well as he does (which kinda IS true), so hence the long hours! The management actually deems him operational risk - as in, they realize it wouldn't take long for things to start falling apart without him. Part of his paycheck is "preemptive retention package" to stop him from looking for another job :-)
any peonies are nice, L.Ann!
so, did the weather hold, kittykatt?

Here, it didn't. I was finishing mowing the lawn with first drops of rain (luckily it started slow) and then decided to sprinkle the lawn fertilizer (because it's best if it dissolves quickly in rain). I came inside quite wet, but I did manage to finish both the back and the front lawn!
