Tom Kitten first appeared in September 1907 as the central character of The Tale of Tom Kitten, the eighth book in Potter’s famous series of 23 children's tales. Tom is mischievous, energetic, cheeky, and entirely resistant to dressing up or acting refined. The only son of Mrs. Tabitha Twitchit (a respectable shopkeeping cat) and brother to sisters Moppet and Mittens, he plump little tabby cat who famously bursts the buttons off his elegant, uncomfortable clothes because he has grown too fat.

The story is a playful comedy of manners set at Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s real-life farm cottage in the Lake District.Mrs. Tabitha Twitchit expects "fine company" for afternoon tea. She scrubs, grooms, and dresses her three kittens in smart clothes to impress her guests. Sent outside to stay clean, the kittens instantly fail. Moppet and Mittens get grass stains, while Tom struggles to climb the garden wall in his tight trousers, bursting his buttons and dropping his clothes Three passing puddle-ducks (Jemima, Rebeccah, and Mr. Drake Puddle-Duck) find the discarded clothes and curiously put them on. Mrs. Tabitha finds her children completely naked on the wall. Affronted and embarrassed, she sends them upstairs and tells her guests they are in bed with the measles. However, the tea party is disrupted anyway by the loud, chaotic romping of the kittens overhead.

Tom Kitten also appears in The Tale of Samuel Whiskers or The Roly-Poly Pudding (1908):. Here, Tom is the central focus again when he hides up a chimney to escape a bath and is captured by a pair of large, villainous rats who attempt to turn him into a pudding.

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday! Just a quick CI as I need to be OTD early - *Ihave several.erramds.to.run.bef9re.chirchI never made it back yesterday, but we went out for lunch, made the very.k9st.if.tje.Grouon.offer, and then slept for most of the afternoon! The weather was very wet, so not really conducive to doing anything outside, a d also incredibly humid, which always makes.me.tir3d. But, it was a very good lunch, and neither of us needed supper!

Good morning, Kittykatt. Thank you for another fun start. I am hanging laundry. Luckily, I have no plans for Thursday and no deliveries, so I can sleep in as late as needed.

Sleep well, Dogged! I'm glad this latest FedEx delivery was superior in every way to your previous experience.

I've arrived at church, very early, but I think it's going to be another very humid day, and I want to get the car hoovered, the cake dropped off and everything collected at the vet before it gets too hot and before it starts raining.

I'm all done and in my PJs, so onward and bedward for me.

Thursday
Got the dw and laundry carts back into walk-in closet
Rearranged the rest of the carts and the box so that I could set up the big drying rack
Hung the dried laundry
Was able to hang the delicates on the other side of the same rack, so I didn’t have to give up space near the bed for the small drying rack
Hung the laundry bags
Spread stuff on hangers around the apartment to dry

I will leave you with a SHEM for entertainment, if not edification:
I stay up late every night and realize it’s a bad idea every morning
