Thinking Thursday PWYC
What are your thoughts today? What's on your mind? Stop and think it through, maybe even record your thoughts. Nancy is the pro among us with her journals - perhaps a few tips on recording our thoughts too?

Another horridly smoky day here. I really need to take a truck load to the landfill either today or tomorrow.
Thank you for starting us today Twins' Mom!
Compost, garbage and recycling are all at the end of the driveway.
We had hot dogs yesterday. We also had a blue box of mac and cheese. Not my favourite meal, but dh loved it.

Re: Thinking Thursday PWYC
Good morning
I do use this space to force myself to put thoughts into words. It helps to make decisions and plans. I find comfort in that if I get too off track that someone here will gently nudge me back. Even though most of us haven't met in person, we have shared much over the years and might know each other better than our IRL friends.
I'm jotting down on paper what I have done each hour and find it affirming to see. Life is busy and sometimes I can only see what remains to be done. Seeing the written facts of what I have spent my time doing is helpful.

Re: Thinking Thursday PWYC
Good morning, everyone.
Hoping Ramblin' has been feeling well.
Thoughts recorded ... .. this year I felt pressed into a different thought-writing because the planner companies all decided we didn't need note pages/journal pages in a planner and quit publishing them with any. So, two little contained 5x8 spiral books rather than one has been less convenient. Would you be surprised to know that the notes one has become much less about practical things and more about philosophy, theology, quotations, notes on talks, shared experiences, etc.?
"My Tracker" habit chart points out to me through recorded check marks that I've done less declutter, sewing and gardening so far this week, and more cleaning, laundry and exercise. So, a little nudge to even those out is helpful THINKING.
Well, HRH was still in the bed but now up bumping around the kitchen, so I must away... ..
Next up,
Kitchen spif
a good brunch for us
work in the garden's shady areas
continue cleaning a couple storage spots
declutter

Re: Thinking Thursday PWYC
I'm thinking about the stuff that I need to make happen today. Yesterday was kind of taken up by that luncheon - my unease about attending, then relief that it was over. Dcleaning lady is here doing her thing, and I got things straightened up for her already. Need to eat my brunch because I have a Zoom meeting at 11 today.
Dh has been having an "emergency." His car went with our neighbor who works in auto sales so his car could get service today. So he's driving his "play" car and it wouldn't open with the remote key after his workout this a.m. After calling me to come to take him to get a new battery for the remote, it did open up and start so I didn't have to go. But he doesn't have a second key for this fifteen year old car that he bought used. He's now taken my car to get a new battery for the remote, and left the "play" car here.
I'm eating the last of the peach salsa on wheat toast with my breakfast.
I ordered a pension record from a guy who pulls records at the National Archives earlier in the week, and received it yesterday. It wasn't the guy that I thought it was so was a loss in that sense, however it was a fascinating file and I'm perusing it. Soldier died 1916 at 42, leaving a widow and two young children. Turns out the widow "remarried" days after he died, and had a child much less that nine months later. That "husband" deserted her, so she "remarried" again. By 1924 she was a "housekeeper" for an older single man. I don't think she claimed to marry him. Then there was another "marriage" later in life. Her testimony showed she had an out-of-wedlock child before the first marriage. Anyway, she was denied a pension based on the first husband's service and death, but her children were allowed. One grew up with an uncle, not with her. And this is only the first 80 pages of so of the file! (Not sure there are records of the remarriage and "divorces."

Re: Thinking Thursday PWYC
Drove my "Play" rig to the store after getting up at 4:00 on purpose to beat the heat and get there by six when they opened.
Got some fabric with red and two shades of blue stars on it I'm excited to find that! Did not find the book bag I was hoping to get.
But looked and I do not really "need" it. I've found some 2nd hand over the years. I did stock up on comp. notebooks as I use em all the time
and the selection is best now.
Hosed off the rig and parked it I do need to do a fuel run for it but will try to do that and scout for yard sales this weekend.
We have a red flag warning and a heat advisory.
I was journaling a bit outside and we got a smattering of rain.
98% for the items I got are put away mostly food.
Fabric is drip drying outside on the deck rail.
I will need to do a strip of red and a strip of white for the red and white stripes if I want that.
I have not gotten to my bujo list yet.
No sub way as they were not open yet.
I will cook up some greens and Cauliflower for veg. in a while.
Waving to all of you and wishing you a great day.
My New Habit this mo. is getting used to pouring water through the filter to use later.
E-gads high temp. today is 107* here.

Re: Thinking Thursday PWYC
Oh, goodness, Nancy! Do stay as cool as you can!
Hi, all! The smoke has hit here today. Guess it finally crossed the lake. DSIL, who is mostly incommunicado, broke her silence to post in the siblings' group chat to ask who else had smoke. DyoungestBIL had it -- said air quality rating was the worst level and that we would be getting it soon. Well, it arrived overnight. It's most noticeable at the north-facing windows, and it kept DD from sleeping soundly.
I picked up my journal last night for the first time in most of a week -- I really need to get back at it. The therapist who started me doing it told me to set a reminder to "please" do it, not to be rigid or commanding, but to do it as a favor to myself. She was really nice; I hope she's doing well.
Glad your luncheon went well, Twins. I hope your DH gets his car issues straightened up quickly.
Have decided not to do the treadmill this morning. It is not in the a/c section of the house (not that we don't notice the smoke in this part, too, but it is at least a little better with the a/c filter, I think), and I don't think exerting myself in hot, smoky air will do me good. Washed breakfast dishes and a few of last night's dinner dishes. I need to broach the idea with DC of actually registering for classes. It's community college, so registering at the last minute is a possibility, but it usually means getting sections they wouldn't prefer. And I would like some advance notice of what the fall's schedule is likely to be. DD put in another job application this morning. Not anywhere convenient, sadly, but at this point, as long as we can get her there, it's worth it. DC has the driver's exam scheduled, but if we need the same car to get them to class and to get DD to work, I will still be driving.
Next up, laundry. I should do a load of DH's shirts -- he brought down a batch of empty hangers, so he must be running short. It's harder to tell in the summer because he wears polos sometimes.
Have a great day!

it's very smoky here as well! I can't imagine what it is like at your home (and d Kathryn's) today!
I was going to run errands all day but I think I will wait a day or too.

Re: Thinking Thursday PWYC
What a great way to think about it.do it as a favor to myself
I like doing things for "future LM" as a gift to myself.
A sad moment when I realized DH doesn't know how to use the weed eater anymore. it is more than not knowing how to start it (battery so just press one button). He has the "want to" but not the mental ability. Instead of using the weed eater on the fence line, I see he is pulling the grass along the fenceline by hand. He is happy and safe doing it. Those are my 2 basic guidelines for him.
>>>skippable rant<<<<<
A ridiculous (IMHO) requirement for DD15 appt with oral surgery is that we have to bring her original adoption papers. They did the same thing with DS17 last year. How do they even know the kids are adopted? And why does it matter to them? They don't ask for birth certificate, but they want adoption papers. They can see that the kids are on my health insurance so that should be enough information for them IMHO. This oral surgery isn't even covered by health insurance so I pay out of pocket for it ($4k). They have proof that I paid in full for DS17 surgery on the same day with zero problems. It feels like an invasion of privacy. I can either do it or find another oral surgeon (good luck with that). So....I have the adoption papers ready to take and show them even though IT IS NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS.
I've never had any other medical people request the adoption papers.
