The tomato (US: /təˈmeɪtoʊ/, UK: /təˈmɑːtoʊ/; Solanum lycopersicum) is a plant whose fruit is an edible berry that is eaten as a vegetable. The tomato is a member of the nightshade family that includes tobacco, potato, and chili peppers. It originated from western South America, and may have been domesticated there, in Mexico, or in Central America. The Spanish introduced tomatoes to Eurasia in the Columbian exchange in the 16th century.

Tomato plants are vines, largely annual, and vulnerable to frost, though sometimes living longer in greenhouses. The flowers can self-fertilize. Modern varieties have been bred to ripen uniformly red, in a process that has often impaired the fruit's sweetness and flavor. There are thousands of cultivars, varying in size, color, shape, and flavour. Tomatoes are attacked by many insect pests and nematodes and are subject to diseases caused by viruses, mildew, and blight fungi.

The tomato has a strong savory umami flavor and is an important ingredient in cuisines around the world. Tomatoes are widely used in sauces for pasta and pizza, in soups such as gazpacho and tomato soup, in salads and condiments like salsa and ketchup, and in various curries. Tomatoes are also consumed as juice and in beverages such as the Bloody Mary cocktail.

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!

Trissie,.were were supposed to be having the start of another heatwave, but there was quite a strong cool breeze yesterday, which actually brought the temperature.down to quite a.reasonable.level.

The art garden sounded fun,.L.Ann. When does Little.Bit start school?

WTG.on.yoir.steps,. KitKat. I finally finished cleaning the windows yesterday.

Laura,.I have the Dyson small.ball animal upright for cleaning downstairs (lots of carpet) andy.cylder Dyson for upstairs (mostly hard.floor,.but it.came.with the power head which is useful on carpet when the downstairs one breaks!). I'm tall,.so the upright is better for my back, but it's also quite heavy, hence the cylinder der for upstairs, so I'm not constantly lugging.a heavy hoover upstairs and downstairs..Oh,.and I have a little Shark cordless.for the car and to do the stairs.I think of I was looking.to.replaxe I would look I to the stick vacuum.

Dogged, I'm glad Germane is feeling better.

Gma, you're a good faithful friend.to your DF BS. And how very kind (and also astute!) of you to offer one of the dolls.to each of the you.g.people. I'm sure they will be treasured in their new homes.

Yesterday I finally finished cleaning the windows! Other achievements were to water the roses in my front .garden and to clean the kitchen..

Today is going to be busy with church.and weight loss clinic for Jude in the afternoon,.so hopefully.Ill BBL!

Thank you for a delicious start, Kittykatt. Who doesn't love tomatoes?
I went to bed early because of my poor sleep the night before, but am constantly on guard to rescue Germane. She has already moved the air conditioner's hose, pooped under my bed and gotten trapped under my table. At some point I will get tired enough to just sleep through the sounds of Germane sundowning and deal with the consequences in the morning. Aaaaand she has just pooped on another spot. BBL

Oh, Dogged, I'm.sorry Germane is having difficulties again. Would crating her help her feel more secure (and give you a bit of a break,) or would it just make her feel more distressed and disoriented?

I've made it to church. Mica presented herself at our, patio doors, which were open on tilt this morning. Jude was not amused, and puffed up her tail, but Matilda.wasmthrilled.to have a new playmate (so they're running.true to form). She then went round to the front.of the house when I took Fred for his walk. And we had quick nose runs,. before they got confused. (Fred has never met an intact female cat before, so he needed Mum's lap when we got.back inside. ) But despite.some.half hearted hissing from both sides, ( to be expected!) there was no real sign of aggression.from.eitjer of them, so in the possible event we do end up adopting Mica, I think long term, with correct and gradual introductions, they would all get on reasonably well.

My next task is to hoover the car and see if I have time to attend to the outside as well.

That is definitely a hopeful sign that Micah could fit in with your feline set, Kittykatt. :D

I'm not really up. I just got up to go to the bathroom and clean the poop I found there

I have been considering shutting Germane in her pen when I go out as I used to. I haven't decided, because it will upset her so much.
