Wonderful Wednesday

Since it is almost 3:00 a.m., I thought I would surprise y'all and start the new day!
One or both of the dgrands has been with me every minute since I last posted. That should explain my absence. SMH. I love them so much, but I am exhausted. DGD and I played 25 games of UNO today. I am not thrilled to admit, she won 20 of those games.
After I picked up DGS at football practice, I took them both swimming, and then we ate at Subway, picked up a Walmart order, and finally, I took them home.

They start school tomorrow. We had a little bit of excitement after practice -- the guidance counselor called ddil and wanted to know if dgs wanted to take computer science instead of vo-ag. There had been a mistake on his schedule that caused them to start looking at what he requested last spring. Well -- she called the football coach, but they were out on the practice field and he didn't answer. At that point, the principal walked out to the practice field, which was quite a hike, to tell dgs that the teacher of the computer science class would allow him to take it, even though it is normally a 10th grade or above class. DGS told her if he was going to be the only ninth grader, he would just stay with vo-ag.
After all this, ddil got pretty upset with DGS, and she and DS thought dgs was making the wrong decision, because everyone seemed to be making such an effort to get him into the upper level class.
I took dgs around to the office and we found out that the guidance counselor had left for the day, but we talked to the principal and she reassured dgs that it was not that big a deal, that he wasn't acting ungrateful or rude, that he would have time to take it later. She understood that he might prefer not to be the only ninth grader in a class with mostly 11th and 12th graders. She told dgs, "Just think about it overnight, and if you want to switch, just let us know tomorrow. No one thinks you're being rude if you don't take computer science this year.We just want you to be happy."
That was so nice of her, and I told her we all appreciated it very much.
DGS said when he put it down as one of his electives, he wasn't really sure about it -- he just had to put another option. I think DS convinced ddil that vo-ag might be more useful than computer anyway.
The principal is a former student of mine and dh's and I worked with the guidance counselor for many years, and I was just really impressed that they were going to this much trouble (principal walking out to the practice field on such a hot afternoon -- "feels like" temp was 101!!! She is a very petite, very beautiful lady, a little bit older than DS. She is a former elementary teacher, but I think she is doing a really good job with the high school.

I am NOT impressed with the job I am doing with the house. MAYBE tomorrow I can get myself back into more of a routine as well.
Yesterday, the washing machine leaked during the first load -- a large load of towels. Then with a smaller load, it did not leak, so I am hoping this was some kind of fluke. I didn't have the energy to deal with it today.

I've been outside looking for the meteor shower, but I didn't see much. Maybe two little streaks.

Hi LucyLee! Thank you for starting us off today!

I have NO idea what vo-ag is. (Vocational agriculture?)

I was exhausted after doing Costco yesterday. I sat and watched the entire baseball game with the Blue Jays beating the Red Sox for the second game in a row!

All I have to do all day today is catch up an a few dishes. Mostly large utensils. Dh wants to know why I don't just put them in the dishwasher. I think I will do that today. Other than that, I get to choose from reading, stitching or resting. There is another Blue Jays Vs. Red Sox game tonight at 7 p.m.

We have a 75% chance of rain today. Our tiny town is still under a state of emergency from the flooding 10 days ago. We are okay but a lot of houses got flooded basements and some still haven't been seen by their insurance company.

Mom was up all night - even though cute/sweet - it was exhausting it was a baby up all night wanting to play.
yesterday was a furosemide day. dd older got up when mom was up again at 3 and told me she would take care of her.
it was constant and now she is sleeping - lol go figure.
dog Gracie slept next to her all night - she is such a kind patient dog and is very loving to mom!

CI I slept well up at 4 not sure if I saw shooting stars but I was happy to see the others.
With out smoke over head is a blessing.

Spent a lot of time on new journal stack.
Faith Planner took some time I added notes from yesterday in it.
I have another one to do but maybe tomorrow in a diff. planner on other topics aka goals.
Bs was good .
We have walked.
Cooler today yea!

I am praying for back to school prep. routines, teachers, admin. students, families etc.

there was a level 3 evacuation notice for those in the path of that fire.
But not for me. I did check for alerts on the TV before going to bed.

Today's Highlight:
Herded a doe and two fawns out of the road today.
Her fawns were lollygagging behind.

We had a storm overnight - I heard thunder rolling, not very close if I remember, but persistent. Don't know how much rain came down. High going back up today and humidity feels oppressive already.

I've been up since 7. Trying to get myself into a better place as far as getting up, in hope that I sleep better. I did remember, when I woke up, that quote for 10K for the restoration of the two cemetery plots. Need to see if there's something we can skip on this. I hate to pay that kind of money for two plots when the families aren't even here? OTOH, that's why we have endowment money too.

Thank you Lucy for getting us started! Such a treat to see you so early in the day, lol.

OH no, bw2. So sorry that your dmom and you had a rough overnight. I hope you can catch a nap today?

Nancy, our ddog had a tiny standoff with a doe and fawns the other day. I remember her unusual bark but didn't look out - dneighbors saw the fawns take off and the doe gave Millie the stink-eye before taking off herself. The fire is worrisome!

LucyLee - Thanks for opening our SHE village today. I have been missing your CI.

My day didn't start off the best but somehow, we are getting through it minute by minute. At 2:18am DH experienced another seizure amnesia episode. The symptoms are progressing like previous episodes, so it feels somewhat normal in that regard but is scares me to the point that I find myself coping by constantly praying and quoting scriptures while refusing to give in to the fear. I don't have time to curl up into a fetal position and cry from what is happening to DH, but I want to.

I'm on the second load of laundry from cleaning up from DH episode. I can anticipate some of the symptoms and be ready so the clean up is easier. It isn't easy....but easier.

I texted DD50 around 5:30am and requested that she come help me. She was eager to do it and showed up in time to take DD15 to school......then DD50 left and went back to her home. I thought she would stay for a few hours but maybe we didn't communicate well enough? I'm sleep deprived, scared and just coping the best I can.

If we had been able to keep the EEG electrodes on DH it would have been amazing to capture what the seizures were doing to his brain. Instead, the EEG equipment and electrodes are sitting on the dining room table waiting for the traveling nurse to show back up. It was a missed opportunity for sure.

((LadyM)), joining you now in quoting, and in calming, prayerful activities as I think of you. So happy to hear tech is on his way. Who else could come to be with you? I know school and work is so important. Perhaps ds' girlfriend... .. A friend from church?

Twins', you need another bid on that job.

Nancy, very kind of you to think of that, because today is the first day of school for ds' children. They were over last evening, and I can tell dgsW is full of mixed emotions, preoccupied. He was very short with his sister, which is unusual.

We had a long visit with ds' children, partially because the weather kicked up badly just as they were getting ready to leave. DgsW had a phone call on his cell from his Daddy saying sit tight, don't come back out in this storm. So, they stayed longer. I think he was happy with the shiny new vehicle emblem.

DangerBoy moved back in yesterday to his shared apt. near his campus. Have not had family members so "far flung" in a long time. DangerBoy is about 3 or 3.5 hours away, WonderBoy now about 1.5 or 2 hours in the opposite direction. In October, ddolder gives a lecture at his univ., so they are looking forward to that first time ever for having a visitor and planning lunch at a nearby old landmark restaurant.

lucylee, thanks for starting us. It does sound as if you have been busy.

Cathy, the games were a big subject with my dgs last evening.
Utensils - there are some that worry me a bit for the dishwasher, like serrated edges or very lightweight (paring knife), small, etc.
And my old pans with handles that never saw a dishwasher in the past - I wash those by hand. So, really, most pans are just washed by hand whether there's a good reason these days or not.

blessed, maybe as you get more experience with the med's effects and timing, you can time the dosage so that her sleepless hours are more through the day? So glad your dd is there to take a shift!

Here, groceries are finally underway.
Plants getting attention outside and in.
Tomorrow, HRH has bloodwork so we're planning Errand Day then.

Good afternoon!

Having a little trouble concentrating here; the kids are playing a fairly loud game. I suppose I could ask them to turn it down.

Therapized this morning -- had several good things to report: DC's driver's license, progress in getting the old car one more step towards being repaired, contacting the roofer now that the raccoons have been expelled, doing a bit more delegating, making progress on my embroidery project. DC is making progress on installing the new smoke detectors; they did not realize I wanted one on each floor, despite us having gotten four. So they still have the basement and attic to do.

Need to have lunch. I should have a talk with the offspring once they're done with their game. I need to know what sort of morning routine DC intends to have once classes start, and I need to set up regular driving with DD -- if we go out daily, they may be more comfortable and get over their anxiety. I also need to get a grocery list together; we've got stuff for tonight, but I'm not sure we can scrape together another dinner with what's in the house.

lucylee, I hope now that the grandkids are headed back to school, you can find a new routine that lets you take care of yourself better. (Much as I like to play games, I think 25 games of Uno in one day is a bit excessive. Of course, if it's a matter of getting all the playtime in with Grandma before school starts back up, it may be understandable. )

I envy you the winning ways of the Jays, Cathy. The Guards have been dismal.

Oh, goodness, the cemetery job isn't easy, is it, Twins?

Oh, that would have been good to get a recording of the seizure, LadyM. Such a shame. I hope you get some good help from the EEG man. Know that we are right by your side, even if circumstances are such that you can't come see us. (Feeling the same way about Rose, should she get the chance to peek in.)

I'm glad your storms had a silver lining in that you got to spend a little more time with the family, Harriet.

Ack! I have missed my chance to talk to the kids together; they are done, and DC has slipped upstairs. Separately it will have to be, then. But lunch first. Have a great day!

12 hours after seizure and DH is about 90% back to his normal.
** Big Sigh of relief **

96 hour EEG is going to be rescheduled.

It appears our normal routine is going to be resumed. I am thankful.
