Re: Mandolin Monday
A mandolin (Italian: mandolino, pronounced [mandoˈliːno]; literally "small mandola") is a stringed musical instrument in the lute family and is generally plucked with a pick. It most commonly has four courses of doubled strings tuned in unison, thus giving a total of eight strings. A variety of string types are used, with steel strings being the most common and usually the least expensive. The courses are typically tuned in an interval of perfect fifths, with the same tuning as a violin (G3, D4, A4, E5). Also, like the violin, it is the soprano member of a family that includes the mandola, octave mandolin, mandocello and mandobass.
Mandolins evolved from lutes, a family of instruments in Europe. Predecessors include the gittern and mandore or mandola in Italy during the 17th and 18th centuries. There were a variety of regional variants, but the two most widespread ones were the Neapolitan mandolin and the Lombard mandolin. The Neapolitan style has spread worldwide.

Re: Mandolin Monday
Good morning, everyone, and happy Monday!
Today is a bank holiday, so a slower start. It also means it will almost certainly rain!
If it's dry, I would like to spend some time in my garden and maybe go for a walk. if it is indeed wet, or otherwise inclement, then there's plenty to do around the house!
Have a good day, everyone!

Re: Mandolin Monday
It's just after 10 am, and we've already had a mixture of sun, showers and a strong breeze. I've taken Fred out during a sunny spell, and I think I'll have a session in my front garden during the next sunny spell, as I can easily dash back inside if it rains again. Depending how successful that is, I may then tackle the back!

Re: Mandolin Monday
More great SHEMs Kitty! Did the weather stay dry so you could work in your front garden?
That was a clever cocker spaniel, Doggedly.
Nice to see you trissie. Summer vacation is over here too.
I'm up later than I'd wanted -- but I went to bed a bit later, so it makes sense. I said good bye to the girls. Dh is going to do the school drop offs and I'll do the pick ups. Today is a short day, so they'll be done by 11 a.m.
My legs were very sore by yesterday afternoon. I think I'm going to take a break from jogging and see if I can get them to heal. I'm not really sure exactly what is going on, but I still think it's probably strained muscles or something like that. Could be sciatica? I'm not sure how I will prevent a lot of weight gain while I take a break from jogging. . . I'll try to eat less, although I do enjoy eating, and go for more short walks - though, they should be on the flat so I'll need to drive to find flat ground.
Today, I need to pick up the girls at 11 a.m. I also need to go in to payroll 12 - 1:45-ish to offer teacher support and to lead the teacher meeting. I might get some groceries, though our fridge is currently very full with leftovers, which we're going to eat tonight. Walking, trying to confirm and finalize details with the window washer and the carpet cleaner would be good. I also now have baby gifts, so it would be good to start the process of wrapping them and getting them in the mail. And I have 2 snail mail bills to pay.
Next:
- some qt
- finish reclaiming the kitchen
- back exercises; hold off stretches for my hamstrings
Later:
- s2s and self care
- squeegee and wipe down shower
- make the bed
- call carpet cleaner
- pay snail mail bills
- 10:15ish go walk in the park across from the school
- 11 pick up the girls
- eat part of lunch
- otd again at 11:40
- 12-1 payroll: teacher support; work on S8 PD slides
- send out reminder for teacher meeting
- 1-1:40ish lead teacher meeting
- home; finish lunch
- menu plan for the week
- get groceries for dinner tomorrow? Or make a Kroger order for tomorrow?
