Wide-Awake Wednesday

Post by bittersweet »

So...here I am at 3:30am - wide awake :? The repeated beeping of the power backup on DH's computer woke me over an hour ago, and when I couldn't figure out what was making it happen, I woke him up to deal with it. It seems that one of the kittens knocked a plug partway out. Anyways...by the time that was solved, I had a bit of heartburn, so came downstairs for some T*ms. Then I went back to bed at 2:55am. When I wasn't asleep by 3:30, I figured I might as well get up and do something. I'm hoping to get a bit more sleep...working a 10 hour shift on 4 hours of sleep could be a bit tricky.

While I'm up, I might as well set out the breakfast buffet for the village - pastries, muffins, biscuits, fruit of all kinds (strawberries, blueberries, bananas, melons, pineapples...it's all in season for a cyber-buffet!), and let's not forget the coffee, tea, iced water and juice in the fridge. Help yourselves! :D

Thanks for the eats, Bsweet!

I will be heading out the door in a minute to a day-long CPE (continuing professional education) seminar, followed by temple bd meeting this evening.

bittersweet, I have been having a lot of wide-awake nights lately. Once I wake up in the night, my mind is just running in overtime and I can't seem to get back to sleep.

I moved 1 carload of things yesterday. Once dd2 showed up with the little ones, I decided on a new plan. I could tell that her heart is just not in it and that she would rather be home unpacking. So I told her if she would get her refrigerator items moved and clean the bathrooms plus get the rest of her stuff out, we would call it good. She loaded the items out of the fridge, then we picked up lunch and went to her new house to eat. I was able to see her new furniture and the tumbleweeds while there. We went back to the house and I cleaned the fridge. Her idea of clean would have been to wipe at the shelves. My idea of clean was to remove every shelf and drawer. She worked really hard in the master bath and it looks nice. Then she ran out of steam and time. She didn't get her stuff moved so will be back today. Oh well, after 10 am tomorrow, it will be mine and she can help me by staying home and doing her own things.

This weekend dh will paint ceilings and I can concentrate on moving. I need to vaccum the ceilings and clean the ceiling fans before he starts.

Today is supposed to be high 50's so I have an outside project to work on. The house has a covered outside entry area that is 11 x 21 and is ceramic tile. At the outside corner there is an arch on the west side and one on the north. Anyway leaves, etc. blow in there. Dh loaded his electric blower for me to use on it. Keep in mind, I have never used a blower. Then I will wipe up the spills and then mop. The reason I am being so anal is that with the guys cleaning the ductwork and then the carpet, they will have hoses etc. drug thru there and into the house and I want that area as clean as possible.

Dh has to go out of town today to a managers meeting. I am hoping he can get that furnace vaccumed out tonight. It is back and around in a corner and my claustrophobia gives me fits even thinking of messing with it.

Well I better head upstairs and get started. Sorry I haven't been commenting but I do in my head as I read the posts.

It's now 5:15am, and no signs of sleepiness in sight *sigh* However...the dishes are all done, downstairs critter care dealt with, indoor plants watered, trash out, email inbox decluttered, and worm bin maintenance done.

Next up will be a bit of "desk day" stuff - paying bills. Believe it or not, I actually have all the current month's bills here so I know what needs to be paid! :o After that, I'll answer a couple of emails, do the upstairs critters, and then have a shower and start getting ready for work.

I know that the new pills the doc put me on the other day (more about that in H & F later) can cause one to feel "a bit more energetic" and "a bit more focused", but this is a level of productivity I never expected!

High 50s would be lovely, Lilac! What we've got here is right around the freezing mark with periods of light snow

Thanks for the cyber buffet, bsweet!

Have a good day at CPE, Twins.

Good luck with the leaf blower, Lilac!

We got a dusting of snow last night, maybe an inch. It is very pretty!

I am not sleeping well with dh out of town. :|

Yesterday, I ended up feeling like I resembled a tumbleweed, being tossed back and forth by the winds of various urgent issues that resulted in too many emails, some phone calls, and a trip to Office max to replace our printer cartridge. I was mostly working on moms group chair issues related to the upcoming Cmas potluck and gifts for the child care workers, but there was also a previously unknown to me (or dd16!) sleepover plan for dd16 and friends fraught with planning problems; and a neighbor called, concerned about someone "disposing" of their yard waste in a nearby wooded area, which another neighbor then claimed was their property and first neighbor claims it is not. I don't think it is said neighbors property, but I'll stay out of that one. Both these neighbors are of Chinese background, so it is interesting to hear the dynamics. They're a bit more blunt than I would be, but I'm not known for being particularly outspoken either.

Harriet, I saw your question and though I don't know details, that certainly sounds like Hebrew, to the extent I now know it. It is amazing how many different shades of meaning in English one word in Hebrew can have. Some of them are idiomatic. If you had a reference, that would be most helpful. Off the top of my head, I know a word for "to take," and I'll look it up later today. I don't remember a word for "carry," though that doesn't mean I haven't come across it before.

Because of my tumbleweed imitation yesterday, my Hebrew studies suffered, but I may have been far enough ahead of where we're working to be OK today. Still, I'm off to translate more.

Have a great day all!

I'm really dragging this morning... had about 4 hours' sleep, too.
I just couldn't get into bed last night. I cannot seem to master the 15 minutes/use the timer/break the job down into small portions idea. OTOH, I am VERY glad the Christmas cards are addressed, the clothes are clean, and the school np stuff is organized & ready for today's tasks.

I only have to teach three classes today. I won a door decorating contest and the prize was 2 free periods to be taken at my choice. Another teacher is taking my last two classes so I'll have that time free for np or grading papers, etc. (Can't leave campus, prize just means time w/out students underfoot.)
* No praise is necessary for the door decorating. Students did all the work, and we used another teacher's idea for the slogan! I offered to share the 1/2 day prize with her -- gave her two periods and I took two periods. She's a good friend.
I asked to take my part today b/c we are supposed to have a LONG faculty meeting this afternoon. Could have saved the afternoon by attending morning session @ 6:30  but as you can see -- I was definitely not prepared for THAT.

I better get in the shower or I won't be prepared for 7:30 sign in, either.

Oh -- we have a 7 period day, in case anyone is wondering. Besides my 3 classes of English today, I'll have my newspaper staff period & my planning period.
Tomorrow is another day.

BWTG Lucylee on the Christmas Cards!!!!

I'm very impressed. And a bit disappointed you've finished because your posts have been my reminders to do things. Our newsletter is a big production, two legal pages, double sided. So far, I've printed off 10 of one side and 20 of another. Then the black ink gave out on the printer (and my other two printers are both out of toner.) Your posts on Monday helped me get the printing started and I remembered to try and pick up toner (could only get the black ink for the inkjet printer) and your post last night reminded me to order the toner online.

I have added printing the newsletters to my to-do list for the day. I kind of have to be beside the printer while it is going to make sure all is well and that printer is in my creative room so I'll have to find another task to take there with me. Hemming my jeans springs to mind.

My only outside the house event today is choir. Dh will do the snow tires. I'll focus on getting caught up at home. I know what I'm to do, now I just have to do it.

I'm really dragging today, I'm 15 minutes into my treadmill routine and want to quit it now. All the work yesterday was mainly standing, bending over a table slightly which is the worst possible position for my back. I tried to mix it up as much as possible but I'm still sore today. Slept well last night, though.

I hate losing posts, Indiana!!

I've done everything I intended to, and then made the bed and started a load of laundry! DH and DS are both a bit mystified by my energy level (as am I!), but I'm not complaining  We'll see how long this lasts...but while it does, I'm going to get as much done as possible!

My hair is almost dry enough to take out of the towel (it'll probably still be wet when I head to work, but oh well...frozen hair is a fact of life here in the winter :P ), and then I need to get my lunch together and head out the door - hopefully a few minutes early, cause there's snow on my car!

I do believe I need to get my Christmas cards done in the next week or so, Kathryn...so I'll help you keep on track with yours :P

Thank you Bittersweet. It will be good to have a Christmas Card partner to keep me accountable!

Dh is off to get the snow tires on. Snow may come this afternoon. I'm skeptical about it, it doesn't feel snowy to me.

I've exercised including doing most of my floor exercises. I'm not as sore as I expected to be and think the squats and other balance exercises I'm doing might have something to do with that so I was motivated to do them this morning.

I'm s2s, the bedroom tidied, the dishwasher unloaded and the hot water pot on reboil since I forgot to refill it last night. I did have enough to make my tea so I'm having tea and chocolate and sitting under my SAD light right now.
