Mysterious Monday

Post by bittersweet »

And....the mystery of the day is......... where da heck IS everyone this morning? I know it's brutally cold here (almost -40 with the windchill), but surely it isn't this bad everywhere!

I've actually been semi-productive so far this morning - over half of the dishes are washed, and all the litter boxes have been cleaned. Next, I think I'll mix up some chocolate chip banana bread, and clean the bathroom while that bakes. If there's any extra time, I'll start a load of laundry. DH was doing some last week, and he doesn't always bring it up when it's clean, so I really have no idea where I'm starting with that task

Wow, is everybody out shoveling snow this morning? It's cold here but I imagine most of you would relish our 50's and 60's temps!

Been a morning of interruptions so far. Got DH out the door with much assistance (loaded a chair in truck as he will be just supervising today) amongst other things.

About the past couple days' discussion of diabetes, there is one interesting thing I know. In the early 2000's they had isolated a virus which they thought caused the disease. One of my family members was included in the study, and she was tested for the virus. She was picked because of direct family member who had the disease. She tested negative for this. I don't know if she had tested positive whether they had a cure for the virus or they just knew to watch...and supposedly she was supposed to be followed in years to come, but I don't know if anyone has been in touch.

Fielding a lot of phone calls today; sort of spinning my wheels here. Need to get something done. Some of what I need to do I can't because of the holiday.

Odd nobody is around yet but us, bittersweet.

No holiday here. But we are cold! I'm just sitting here, shivering. Of course, if I got moving, I wouldn't feel so cold.

I did do the proud mama thing and posted some more pictures of my son rock climbing. His friend strung together a few of the shots Not-the-Girlfriend took this past weekend and posted them as proof ds has been bitten by a radioactive mountain goat!

I'm actually very impressed (when I'm not scared for him.) Up until now, all shots I'd seen showed him holding onto the wall with at least 2 limbs. Now I see that that isn't always the norm.

Thanks for all the discussion on the Diab. topic! bs was close to my normal range today so I'm happy I got breakfast! I'm having coffee now. Good news I'm down one pound starting off the week on a good note yippie!!!

I was in bed this morning later than usual b/c of the snow out side dreading getting up to face the cold again! It's white and bright outside this morning. We have new snow here less than an inch. H. is doing snow removal today. I did it yesterday.

My back hurt less yesterday when I got up than it does today but I"m thinking the kinks will be gone as I move and am more active today. Dgkids will be here in a few all except the #1 dgd.

Good morning everyone. I had a surprisingly pleasant and productive night last night. My friend who was to come over for dinner cancelled on me and I was unable to get anyone else to join me. As I have written before, dinners alone are the hardest for my newly single self. However, I fed myself leftover turkey and rice and made the black eyed peas I was going to serve my guest. Then, I cleared the kitchen table hot spot and ACTUALLY GOT SOME SEWING DONE, the first sewing since my move. I also figured out how to get the pictures off my camera and hung a picture.

This morning was also productive: I ordered a part for a Christmas present that had been missing, closed a checking account, tracked down someone who had moved and made an appointment. I need to check the document modifications that have been made, and make sure all the comments have been incorporated. Tonight, I think I will do some more sewing, update Quicken, and pay some bills.

I got the vitamins dispenser refilled for 2 weeks. And then counted out what dh will/might need for his trip this week (it might be extended so I added 4 more days.) Then I counted out 34 days worth for our trip.

Dh just looked out the window and chuckled: "Why walk on the road when you can walk knee deep in the snow?!" The little one at the end of the street is on his way to the school bus and everyone knows it is more fun to walk through the snow or on top of the snowbank, than on the road. (The bus is having to wait for him to make his way through my side yard.) One of the nicest parts of having the bus stop on my corner is finding snow angels or snowmen on the corner lot as we drive by (we don't have windows that overlook the lot so what the boys while waiting for the bus is always a surprise to us.)

Well, it's 62F in our bedroom -does that count, BSweet?

Spent about an hour looking for my phone. Finally located it 1 hour and 20 minutes from here. It evidently fell out of my pocket while I semi-snoozed in a chair yesterday. This particular coat has horrible pockets & I evidently slid it in 1 earlier in the afternoon. We're all meeting for lunch on Thursday so will get it back then (that's about 2 hours from here).

DH wants to go to Plant City this afternoon for strawberries and ice cream -brrrrrrr. Not sure dd is enjoying her day off from school -dgd manages to drive us all a little crazy after she's been off school for a day and this is 3.

DH & DSIL went to a large flea market about an hour from here today and are back already.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!
