Sunrise Saturday

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

There is one thing about an ice storm: when the sun finally comes out, the world looks magical!

This morning, it was a pink sunrise. I stared at it too long before getting off the treadmill and grabbing the camera, but I'll post a couple of pics once I'm done working out. Not as dramatic as when I first got up, but pretty, none-the-less.

So what magic have you seen come from something negative?

The sun will help activate all the salt on the roads. Our street has been plowed so looks ok and I'm sure the main roads will be bare. I'll take the freeway on my errand this morning, though, because it will be in the best shape.

It will get windy this afternoon but with all the ice on top of the snow, blowing snow won't be a big issue. Of course, another inch is to fall later today so I might be wrong.

Dh's flight is delayed 1.5 hours. So far. Not because of the snow we'll be getting but because of the freezing rain last night. That delayed the flight from here to London and the same plane then becomes his ride home. They were almost 3 hours late. Dh was told that his flight would take off an hour late, but since they didn't arrive until 15 minutes before the revised take off time, he's now taking off 1:45 late. So, in actual fact, he hasn't taken off yet. I'll expect him when I expect him - I'll keep an eye on the website later in the day.

There's a Tim Horton's by the airport so I might have an early supper while waiting for him and then a bowl of soup when we get home. He's just having soup and toast with cheese and bacon but I can't eat those because of my jaw (toast and most bread is a no-go for me.)

Our sunrise won't happen until 8:27am, and that's 77 minutes from now. Today is my last day of payroll before 4 days off :D I need to take in all the kittycat blankets that I've been crocheting, as the rescue lady will be in today to pick up a cat. (Just took a short break to get them all together). Since I need to be out the door in half an hour, I'd better get off this thing and get ready for work!

Tomorrow I should be posting lots, cause there's LOTS to get done around here...including taking six kittens to the pet store to be put up for adoption.

I'm done breakfast and the washer is finished so I'm going to quickly hang up the clothes to dry (inside) and then head off to the printers.

Negatives into magic?
I think it may be magical that animals become our friends at all, but even more so for unwanted ones. Sammie is a great-hearted force, a fierce friend, who started life as an unwanted hungry puppy with no prospects. And it was neg-a-TIVE that Tobias and 3 sisters were born at all, and a lot of work to handle that. But this morning he was so loving and did his usual appreciation ritual after food, so that I couldn't get away from him until properly thanked, purred to, snuggled ( and likely marked with scent ). Others, I truly hope, are caring well for his sisters this morning and maybe having the same thought as they try to get away, too. Magic? Well... ..in the same way that a hoe is a magic wand in a garden... ..yes.

TaDa of Desk Day completion for both household yesterday, although again this doesn't include kitchen, like menus. Possibly have found a reason that Desk Days should not be placed on Fridays ?? :? DPCs, if not completely resolved Friday, usually can't be continued or followed up the next day, pushing things back to the next week and undermining "off my mind" goals. So, I may be changing Basic Weekly Plan up again.

I have made honey-do lists this Saturday morning for both dd and HRH. My ddad is eating his breakfast and seemed much more alert, but topics of conversation are depressing. Maybe television.

There is a hold on a book dd13 has out of the library, so I want to get that back there. I had assumed we would renew, but couldn't for this one because of the hold. I don't care about fines, but I do care that some other dd out there needs a certain book. I need to call and make sure a script is ready at pharmacy #1, and maybe I'll feel better about an errand run with 2 objectives. Did it, it is, so there's an errand run for HRH and I to fight over - not, lol.

Gooooood Morning!

Love the sunrise theme today. A few days ago I decided to take a picture of the sunrise each day. I usually glance at the sky as I'm going about my doings, but stopping and taking a picture helps me to really "see" just how beautiful the sunrise is.

I'm sooo excited!! Yesterday I bought onion sets, planting potatoes and seeds to plant in the vegetable garden. I've been working on my garden plan this week, so I knew the end result I am hoping for (exactly what I want to can/freeze/dehydrate), which told me what to grow this year. I developed a list of what seeds I had on hand and what seeds I needed to purchase to meet my harvest goals. I have soooo enjoyed looking through my favorite garden books and taking notes. I always feel like a novice because there is just so much more to learn and try!

I was up before 6, and stayed up for a couple hours. I went back to bed at 8 and got 2 more hours of much needed sleep. I feel better now! In an hour we are having an early steak dinner with relatives to celebrate my husband's new job.

We've had a little snow and the world looks magical again! Not more than an inch, probably, but it is still lightly falling.

TaDa! I was out the door with dd13 at 7:15 to take her to her first performance at the solo/ensemble festival. Her ensemble (2 flutes + 1 oboe) played very nicely, had a very nice blend and lightness to their playing. The judge was impressed by their blend and asked if they had played together before. Yes, 3 times. They got a 1 rating, so they were happy. The girls put their instruments away so quickly afterward, I couldn't take a photo. I'll know better with dd13's 2nd trio performance - at 3:15. We'll leave here around 2. .

Between now and 2, I hope to:
-pick up book on CD on hold for me at the library (Harriet's post reminded me of this)
-buy candles for dh's bday cake, which I baked last night. We will share with small group tonight. I requested dessert for the potluck portion of small group.
-glaze the cake
-work out since I didn't get to this last night
-a.m. routine + laundry

Later:
2 - leave for solo ensemble; likely give a ride to another oboist and her mom
3:15 - if on time, dd13's oboe trio performance
4:30 - hopefully, we'll be home by this time
5 - 8:30-ish small group

This sat here for a while. I had bfast with dd13 and dh. I'm off now to finish the a.m. routine and then run my 2 short errands (library and candles).

Good morning!!!
Hmmm... looking for magic this morning... I'll have to get back to you on that.
Well... it will be MAGICAL if I can stop worrying about being a bad mother-in-law last night. * sigh * (If you're interested, it's all in my post from last night. Thank you, Harmony, for reassurance.)

It is kinda magical that I am even getting to be HOME this weekend!!! BIG HOORAY for THAT!!!

Congratulations to helia's dd & the ensemble! I know the afternoon performance will go just as well!
Congratulations to Mr. Cathyy on the new job!
Waving to OKay... bsweet... Indiana... and Kathryn...
Hope ddad has a better day, Harriet...
Tomorrow is another day.
