Motivational Monday

Post by bittersweet »

Today begins the last week of March...the end of the first quarter of the year. It's also the first day of National Cleaning Week, or Make Your Own Holiday Day.

I had a less than stellar start to my morning - it seems the fridge isn't working properly at all. The freezer part seems fine, but I took the milk out for my coffee, and and entire gallon of milk - just opened yesterday with a best before date of April 9 - is allllll lumpy and warm :x I thought it seemed a bit warm yesterday, so turned it to coldest...but apparently that didn't help, so this morning will include a call to the resident manager to get it replaced. Hopefully, they don't think a several day turnaround on this maintenance request will be a satisfactory response!

I'm enjoying the sight of my completely cleaned off dining room table this morning!! The only things on it are my blaster & audio book, and a folded fleece blanket for the cats to lay on by the window. That was pretty much our project yesterday before heading over to DD's where we bagged up trash, recycling, and returnables, folded a couple of loads of laundry, got more started, emptied the dishwasher, and got it refilled and running. Not a huge amount, but it made quite a difference, and wasn't bad for a couple of hours work. Then we headed off for the crafting get together, and had a wonderful time. :D

Well, rats, I started a post from home but apparently didn't post it.

Already have a "ta-da" in that I wrote for the temple bulletin and emailed it. So that's done.

It is Monday, right? Almost 7am? Wow! The village is soooooo quiet today! :o

I've done the critter care stuff, s&s the bathroom, and decided to take a short break before getting dressed for work. Only one day, then I'm off for three, work two, off for one, work three (or four-depends on a co-worker's holiday plans), then off for four or five.

My schedule is thrown off a bit with the fridge happenings...breakfast plans nixed, and I'll have to bring up the cooler, add some ice packs, and put some of the most perishable stuff in there for the day *sigh* Ah well...I guess it's a good opportunity to give the fridge a thorough cleaning!

SOOOOOO happy to see Indiana back and posting!! :D :D :D

Well, bittersweet, I know where Harriet has been, lol.

I was up in the night with my ddad about 2. Despite my fretting over various ways in which his evening routine wasn't on track, and trying to figure out what to do, he still slept in his clothes. Not a big deal on some levels but it worries me.

At 6:30 a.m. I was still so sleepy, so I rapped "shave and a haircut, 2 bits" on the wall between our bedroom and dd13's, got a 2-rap response and laid back down again. I was slightly aware of noises that let me know she was washing her hair. Now with school run done, chickens out into the world, and my ddad's morning chores attended, I'm still sleepy and feeling bla. I had a 2-egg veggie omelet but that didn't "wake" me.

Depressing machine phone call from dd's school. A boy in the class younger than her died last evening of natural causes, but a surprise - so sad for this family. Counselors are at the school today. I won't know until she gets home if she knew the boy, but as a general rule the grade levels are separated by architecture.

I want to be on task, I really do. The spirit is willing but the eyelids rebel and the body demands a power nap. I've shown my ddad that I've left a change of clothes across his bed but so far he is ignoring this. I'm going to try the power nap with one ear open and do a day-re-start.

Harriet good luck rebooting your day. Rain rain rain it's a good day to start a pot of chili in the crock pot that's my meal plan for today! I have unloaded dishes and rinsed the ones we used last night and gotten them loaded. I'm so glad I raked up the last of the leaves on the front fence line yesterday afternoon. We have rain in the forecast all week here. Looks like it's not snowing around us and the last of the snow in some areas at least is leaving. And we got the unstaging is done. [So we can live here! LOL!] With rain in the forecast had to put away lawn and garden furniture or at least tuck it under the eves & carport.

I need to wash my hair. I've had coffee and granola bar so far this morning and egg is next maybe some cheese I've not decided yet! Then journaling and QT.

Our neighbor had a guy over they are out in the rain trying to play fetch with a ball w/ the dogs next door I'm so hoping it's a dog whisperer to help with that noisy bunch of yappers! That's encouraging.

Yesterday I found test strips when I was cleaning a cupboard; after I'd already bought a new box! Go figure.

For all the folks that were out fertilizing the lawn yesterday hoping for a dry 24 hrs. they did not get it but if they did it on Sat. mission accomplished!

I have to hunt up the other oar there are flood warnings in the forecast! LOL! {We live on a hill.} H. got all ready to put out grass seed today but it's raining don't know if he will put on a slicker to do this or not.

Last night we finely got to see the Blind Side movie and enjoyed it that one never made it to the cheap theater or we missed it. We enjoyed it I saw the end of it last night and caught the part I missed Sunday.

I'm posting from the library.

Good start to the day/week for me.

Got up, not too late, exercised and then stripped and remade the bed. Got dressed and had breakfast without having to rush. Unlike yesterday.

Picked up my neighbour, early, and dropped her off, way early. Because we didn't leave the village until 9:55, the drive was easy - no traffic at all, so she got there 30 minutes early. I'll go back at 2 (or earlier) to pick her up.

Drove to the library in my childhood neighbourhood, rather than one by the hospital since I know all the stores and restaurants here. It is also where Presbytery is located and I'd go there to work except they are closed on Mondays. So I'll do a bit of bookkeeping here at the library and then have a leisurely lunch, Co stco run and maybe pick up some groceries as well.

While at the library, I grabbed two books on public speaking, one specifically for women - I want to learn to modulate my voice better to make me more effective. Not that I have time to read more books - my to read pile is getting rather high - one leftover from the ship (an easy read), The Third Jesus (also an easy read but one that makes me want to take notes), then two more dense books on current societal and economic problems (from dd's Godfather) and now these two. Plus my daily bible reading and any ready I need to do for preaching. I'm going to have to get more efficient about doing housework and perhaps stay off the internet except for a limited time a day in order to free up time for this reading.

Good morning all! I had a good weekend. Friday, I sprayed weeds and took a long walk. Saturday, I went to a fun center with DD10 and her friend and his father. They played laser tag, rode go carts, played laser frenzy, and a simulator game with robots. We had originally planned the zoo, but the other kid did not want to go there and talked DD into the fun center. Kind of a bummer because we have a membership to the zoo and that would have been cheaper! Saturday and Sunday I spend 15 minutes desealing the bathtub. Eventually I will have it done so I can reseal it. Sunday I made church and stuck around for the fellowship time after service and was glad I did. Cat adoption clinic was different with only one foster cat instead of two. Leo, the one that died, was always very vocal in the car and the drive was eerily quiet, even with the radio on. My Russian visa application is nearly done. They ask as many questions as a prospective employer! This coming weekend, DD will be with XDH in Alabama, so I have a child-free weekend. I am trying to set up a meeting with friends. The week after that XDH will be on a business trip, so I will have several days of extra DD time. At payroll the flowcharts are done and I am working on a set of instructions on how to use script commands to write out RTF files.
