Harriet, sounds like you have things at your house under control at the moment!
I've been up since 5. DH snore woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep so figured I might as well be up and working. Unfortunately it's the kind of work that is not betraying visible progress. This is the kind of day when I pull out the card box so that at the end of the day I will at least have a stack of cards in the "completed" section, even if it doesn't look like I've done anything all day.
Luckily I don't need to be anywhere today, so I can go take a nap with the cats any time.
Did a bit of shopping yesterday. I deliberately did not go Monday because I figured there would be big crowds at the after-Easter sales. Apparently lots of people thought the same and waited with me, since both Goodwill and Aldi were super busy and shopping took a long time. It wasn't that people were being inconsiderate blocking the aisles with their cards, there were just so many people that there were no open aisles.
At Goodwill I found a good name brand silk blouse and a rayon tank top for $3.38 each. Both still had the store tags attached. Keeping to my goal of building a wardrobe of basic pieces to which I can add details inspired by a book of 1930s fashions.
When I'm shopping at Goodwill or a consignment shop, I'm very careful to inspect clothing and even if it's only a couple of dollars, I will only buy it if it looks new. Usually I don't find anything to fit my criteria and I come out empty handed, but I've been lucky the past couple of times.
Also found a pair of "Nick & Nora" pajamas, new with the tags and extra button still attached, too small for me but a very pretty 100% heavy cotton fabric. Bright pink & white stripe with colorful fruits. That looks like an apron to me! or maybe placemats. $3.38 which is a great price for that quality of cotton.
I've actually been stopping at Goodwill more often lately because I'm trying to find a metal cheese grater to use to make laundry detergent. All of the recipes I've found online start with a bar of soap (I bought Fels Naptha) which needs to be finely grated. I think I'm going to have to break down and pay full price for a grater at WM.
, my personal routines are accomplished, early outdoor chores done, the school run with dd is accomplished and now I'm in the middle of my Morning Daily Card, which I know from experience takes one hour. I usually manage it from 9 to 10 these days, since on the recent schedule I get home from the school run at about 9. That makes 10:00 a.m. a pretty good Crossroads to aim toward for me. Today my ddad needed more help during the hour, but that's okay, I still know where I was and can go back after interruption.
