Sunday Contemplation

Post by Harriet »

Good morning, dear friends!

What do you need to contemplate today in order to insure a better, more organized week?

How will slowing down to contemplate, or even sketch out some plans today give you more confidence tomorrow, and for the rest of your meaningful, important week?

Good Morning!

In the past, I have utilized Mind Mapping method of visualizing and contemplating various projects and areas of my life. I had forgotten about it until seeing the word sketch used with planning for the week. Thanks for the reminder!

LO and I are staying home from church. He woke up with a croupy sounding cough and is slightly warmer to the touch than normal. However, he is running around with typical high energy level and acts as if nothing is wrong so hopefully the croupy cough disappear as quickly as it came. :)

I visited my colorist first thing this morning then immediately started preparing/serving breakfast......so am late in getting AM routine done.

I will contemplate my week ahead and the goals I would like to accomplish each day.

I'll do my goals and Jake's goals. He has goals each day for training. Some of them he likes and some of them he isn't fond of but he will usually go along.

Winter temperatures are continuing. Today our high will be 60 and by Wednesday 80. So spring will return.

Another thing I need to contemplate today is how if possible a way to resolve a shouting match in writing I had earlier this week with someone. I know some of you saw it. It wasn't my finest hour and I'm very sorry I dropped to their level. I had reached the point of frustration where I felt I had to say something.

It wasn't good and now I'm not sure what can be done about it.

{{{Indiana}}} I missed that I guess.

Today h. said he over did it yesterday so I'll be going to church alone. First time I've done that in years! I'm thinking what to have for breakfast. Did any of you catch any of the humor from the Pres. press dinner?

House looks good still bs is up a bit today.

Cocoa - coffee is great today! w/ some country Gospel music in the back ground now.
I'll journal my contemplations in a bit. This week I was reminded mom's day is next mo. so will be thinking about that what to do for my mom letter to write etc.

Dm left on Wednesday. I cuop after she left but did not manage to post.

Now I need to contemplate a plan of action, so that I will be ready to leave for Baltimore on May 12.

While dm was here we hauled off the flattened boxes at the other house that we had used for moving. When I was done with them I took them over there in case whoever bought the house needed them. Turns out the buyer had been saving boxes for quite awhile. We also recycled magazines. The fall of 2008 I had boxed up all my magazines and put them in the garage. The plan was to go thru them and if I hadn't by April 1, 2009 then I was to get rid of them. I was diagnosed with diabetes that Feb. and from then on those magazines were invisible. Anyway we ripped off the front page and shredded those, after we had bagged and hauled all of those off.

The next day we worked on taking down the wall stuff at the other house and removing all the screws that had been used for that. Then we hauled the wall stuff here and it is in a corner in the sunroom. I will hang stuff after our trip.

I need to get dd2 in gear so that she can get her stuff out of the chest freezer here, so that I can bring my stuff over from the other house. When we leave here on the 12th, the other house has to be ready to turn over to the buyers when we get back. Supposedly they are to close on their sale the 22nd and buy ours the 25th. I will be so glad when the sale is final.

Dh took 2 days off this week and finished moving the garage items. He also moved everything from the yard except for a concrete bench that was a gift from dm and dstepdad. He needed help with that and I wasn't there. I need to haul off all the electronics to the recycle place for them. I also noticed some large pictures that were leaning against the wall in the basement that will need to be brought over. Once I can empty the freezer, I plan to vaccum, mop and clean the bathrooms. Then I will be done with that house. Dm asked me if I miss the house and I told her only when I am there. So I am ready to not miss it.

Yesterday I was at the other house weeding the flower beds. Reminded me why I don't want any here. I do plan to get starts from my ground covers and put them in pots. Dd1 also wants starts and so does dd2. She has plenty of room for them and I told her I would plant them, so that dd1 and I will be able to get some from her if ours don't make it. Dm finally conceded that I don't HAVE to move the peonies. I love them but don't want to kill them by moving them. I really don't have a place for them right now. Dh wants to replace the back fence which is where I would put them and they would get trampled in the process. I might ask the owner to be if I can get some starts in the fall.

With any luck I will only have to mow over there 2 more times, this week and next week. They offered to take it over while we are gone and they can be my guest. After that it is their yard!

With a lot of work before dm arrived, I managed to get the whole place presentable. It had been unless you looked in the 4 extra bedrooms. The one I call my library leaves something to be desired. Right now the floor is covered with baskets and other things to sit around. I need to decide where I am putting all that stuff and put it there, instead the middle of the floor.

After the trip I plan to deep clean one room at a time. While doing that I can declutter.

Yesterday it hit me like a ton of bricks, that if we would have put the difference in what we paid for this house and what we are getting from our sale, plus all the upgrades we are planning, we could have built a new house. Or I could have downsized "the stuff" and put the money for upgrades in that house. I don't usually second guess myself but I have on this. Dh is happy, so I won't bring him down by mentioning this to him, since we can't go back. But I really appreciate having a place to say this and not upset anyone.

((Lilac)) there are benefits to new construction, but drawbacks, too. You'll also never know how many pitfalls or delays you may have avoided, either. Having a happy dh is a very valuable perk!

((Indiana)) sorry you had a frustrating experience - no, don't know about it, but hope you will feel better and feel it's in the past soon.

Looking forward to hearing from Kathryn about how her special message went over!

Today dd went to SS but came home to her ddad, and they stayed with her grandfather while I went to church. It was such a nice service, the song leader so kindly told me a long experience she had had earlier in the week with ds (a fire alarm) and how happy she was to see him, lol. We sang THREE wonderful old hymns, yay. I took a bunch of notes on the interesting sermon. Just one little problem posted in J and C - nothing really. It was a good day.

Today is a rare sunny day, so I have dd outside enjoying the day!!! Lynlee had posted about children spending an hour playing/exercising for every hour they spend in front of screens! What a good idea! I also will get some sun today.

OKay, also I enlarged the link you gave the other day on forming routines and breaking or making habits and enjoyed following the path.

Dove, so nice to see you posting with us yesterday after busyness!

Harriet, you ALWAYS know the right thing to say to make someone feel better. That is a special trait that not everyone possesses.

Ditto that. :D

Lilac, Harriet IS right. New construction can bring all kinds of headaches, delays, frustrations... * whew *
Try not to second guess yourself.

(((Indiana))) I missed your episode also, but I know you could not have handled anything too badly, and I am extremely confident that you will have this straightened out and put behind you ASAP

Waving to Kathryn, Harriet, Lynlee, Dove, Nancy... and all who pop in later!

Contemplating... oh my... I'm just contemplating how glad I am that all societal obligations are (almost!) over for this weekend!!!
 Last night's party was... fine. It was certainly nothing to write home about, ;) but it wasn't HORRIBLE. There were a lot of people there we did not know, and a lot of people we had NOTHING in common with... but we did sorta congregate with some familiar faces and it was okay.
We got away by 9:00 pm and went to a movie.
 Today, 5th Sunday music was extremely well received, although dh was frustrated. After 3 hours' practice spread out over the last two weeks, they omitted certain songs and changed arrangements of others on the fly, so to speak... but as I said, congregation seemed to enjoy it very much.
However, dh had to be at church @ 8:00 a.m., so this day started an hour earlier than our Sundays usually do and we were pretty sleepy by the time we got home.
 I have just attended the 90th birthday celebration of fellow church-goer, which was also very crowded, but I got to visit a little with a former teacher, and some others in the church whom I don't speak to often enough, so that was good. The honoree is probably one of the few people living who remembers my late dgfather and his family from childhood, so it always does me good to talk with him -- and I really need to talk with him more. Dmom says I need to make time to visit him and have him tell me stories about my great-grandparents & my grandfather & his brothers & sisters. But... * sigh * ... things like that are always easier said than done, and there is never enough time. Plus, of course, I do not want to impose on him. He has not been in very good health lately. I'm glad he was able to be at the party, actually.
 One more thing to do... must go to administrative council meeting at church and then type minutes later tonight.

After THAT, I can contemplate the week ahead.
I MUST do laundry for ironing lady tomorrow...
I must get some addresses together for dcousins in prep for baby shower... PRAYING that they get the church reserved on one of the few Sundays we will be available between now and due date...
I really need to grade some papers...
And I REALLY need to GMAT re: exercise. Oh my... this weekend has been You-Know-What on my weight. * sigh *
