FUN FRIDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

Good morning, Villagers! Whatever you're doing today -make it FUN! Any job done with a smile, makes for an easy job!

I awoke at 5:22 for a bathroom break. I slept all night??? Wow! Went back to bed but only for a few minutes -started sneezing. DH soon got up and so did I. He was surprised to see me up. (My comment was: "I'm UP -not UP and at 'EM". Now have had breakfast and meds. Going to sip a cup of coffee while I do my PODA.

Have to call to set up dh's first appointment with the pulmonologist. So will wait till about 8:30 to do that -possibly 9.

Very sunny this morning. Supposed to be a perfect weekend sun and 80's.

DH told me I'd need to move things this morning so he can put in the living room slide -he wants to paint the deck in this section. We have used stain for several years and had to re-do it every year. This year he's trying a deck paint. Perhaps when he gets it all done I'll try to post a picture.

First up is to shower, etc. I still have 2 containers of clean (folded) clothes to be put away in the bedroom. Absolutely need to do it this morning. DH will be putting the steps over to the bedroom door.

Harriet, to answer your question (and a very good one!) -dh's Vit. D level was said to be on the 'low' side. Not sure yet what that number is. But do know the Dr. will give dh the printout from his tests when he sees them. Think I'll ask the Dr. to test my level when I go too. It's not something this dr's office usually does but he did because of the suggestions from the cardiologist. Glad to know those numbers =will give me a good guideline.

When I visited dfriend yesterday she asked if she could recommend a pulmomologist and did. LOL -when Dr. called with his suggestion -same Dr.

My own "victory" with vitamin D seems to be a much better control over my blood sugar. It's the only change I made and the level is normal or nearly normal every day. That makes me a very happy camper. And I'm looking forward to a much better A1C number when that's tested.

Hummmm, my vitamin D was also low last Nov. I've been supplementing with 2000 mg daily. I pretty much avoid the sun except when driving a convertible. :D

Ds just headed out to meet with employer to fill out paperwork, get oriented, etc. I mentioned last night that his out-of-town trip is off - it turns out that they realized that he's 19 and there are liability issues related to his not being 21 in a plant environment.

I have an appointment with dermatologist this morning and need to get s2s and shaved.

early start for you Dee. I do hope you got some more sleep or rest at least.

Last night I found some helpful info on line and will order a couple of royal prince alfred hospital books - one needs a doc's name for the order - so was encouraged by pdoc to do that today. He also wants me to do some more work on the elimination and challenge/testing side of things. Whats interesting is seeing some chemicals in common of things that seem disagreeable . Why the last elimination test left me feeling sick, and the differences in cows and other animals milk.
It will be interesting to see what else contains these things.

Made a new gp doc appointment today for monday. Fingers crossed she is ok. Neighbouring town where last gp practiced before moving away. have a breast clinic dx check the following monday.
I count that and pdoc appointment as only positives of today. Also a ph call w a friend.

re Vit D and sunlight - I think you need the natural body oils on the skin to help with this, so if you have just showered that might make it more difficult. Sry - I have nothing ( no source ) to back that claim up. I think a tv show at some stage.
Just begin.

I'm up have had a cup of tea and worked on unloading dw. I don't like this dw; it often blows tiny bits of food particles into the glasses in the top rack which I then need to wash out every time I unload the dw. Sometimes you can't see it - but you can feel it. Yuck! I've become very sensitive to this now.

Dh is safely home. He'd like to spend some time catching up with me; but we're not sure how/when that could happen. The next 3 evenings are full. We are having a family celebration (tonight) - hoping S and R can make it, small group (tomorrow night), friends S and R over for dinner (Sunday). I'd like to go to WW this morning at 9:30 but he has a meeting at 11. Maybe I'll just weigh in and skip the meeting part and meet him for coffee instead.

I enjoyed book club last night, even though I was only there for an hour. These women are so real and non-pretentious and funny. No one is trying to impress the others with their smarts or morality, etc. Nice! We talk about the oddest things and end up laughing a lot! :) One dfriend who was there last night is in one of our small groups; she is of Taiwanese heritage so it was interesting to hear her take on the book, Hunger, which is written by a Chinese-American woman.

Today is Sr. skip day so ds is home. He will go in last hour to band, since the band director explicitly said he wanted all students present. They have an outdoor concert tomorrow. Then, he is going to the movies with a friend.

I'll be doing some shopping this afternoon in preparation for ds' family bday party tonight. He has requested a simple meal, so that is nice. He finally posted a list of gift ideas last night.

Twins - and others - what are some good gift ideas for dorm rooms? We're not sure what he'll need. I'm wondering about a lamp, an electric kettle, etc. If they want a microwave in their room, do they rent that? Or does this all depend on the dorm and the Univ.?

Ds hasn't heard back re: the summer internship. Maybe it is a no-go. We know they hired some Univ. students, so maybe they don't have space/resources for a high school intern too. . . .We'll see.

Off to the adventures!

Good Morning!

Thinking of DIndiana - wondering if she already knows the names of all the nursing staff and has become their favorite patient. :) Waiting....waiting for her to return to the village!

Kally - Good to see you posting! I've missed you!

Harriet - Your DS27 sounds very wise. DMom asked the doctor about DDad wanting to eat so many sweets and Doc said "let him enjoy them"!! DDad went through cookie phase, cake phase, dingdong phase, etc. Now he seems to be over it and eating "normal".
Ds27 says at 94 he has earned the right to have some dessert

I woke up with a huge pain in my back. It only hurts if I breathe, move, twist, bend...... I've take an advil and am waiting in hope that whatever is hurting decides to stop.

Hello Dear Ladies,

Another sunny day here.

I'm off to work early today for a full 8 hour shift.

Yes got all the toilets replaced. Started with one needing to be replaced and DH said they are all the same age so rather than wait for an unplanned situation, best to replace all now. They are a bit higher than the old ones and use less water.

Harriet I agree with Dson27.

DH and Dsons are still working on vehicle today. DH is stressed about it of course. Has to go to several job sites on Tuesday with it so hope it is all fixed and fine by then.

Going to enjoy a little sunshine before showering and heading out.

Harriet, only thing you could do about the sweet tooth is try sweet things that have some redeeming quality, like fruit on the cake, raisins, nuts (can he do those) in the cookies, etc. I hope when I'm his age I can indulge a little.

I've cuop but feeling a little burned out with replying to everybody. Feeling a little tired today all around. Busy week, with a lot of mental stress, I guess.

Dailies and morning desk chores done. That's about it so far. I'm sure glad tomorrow's Saturday.

I took care of the clean & folded clothes -finally. In that process I found I needed to 'stash' away some of dh's socks & undershorts. Cleaned out his shelves in the bathroom so there was more room. Then I re-did the shelving in the big bathroom closet.

Think dh is back. I called and made his first appointment with the pumonary dr -June 7th. He has to go a little earlier for a breathing test. He had one at the Dr on Wednesday but this will be more extensive.
