Ok, we warmed up with 3 by 3 yesterday. Can we make it to 5 by 5 today? My day is shaping up to easily meet that I think.

Supposed to go walking at 8 (Mon, Wed, Fri) but it was so chilly, wet and windy that I opted not to go. Saw dfriend who orchestrated this walk, go by about 20 minutes ago. Called her to "bless your heart". She decided to go up in case anyone showed up. In talking we decided to go shopping (grocery) later on today. Her dh is going to our dneighbor's to work and it was going to mean a lot of back and forth for her. I need to go get a few things so it's a good outing for us. Though it's supposed to rain LOTS again in a short while for most of the day.

We have dance recital at 6:30 for 3 of our dgks today. (DGS12 (DS-A's); DSGD12 (DDIL/DS-A's) and DGD17 (our DShelley's dd). Will be a nice opportunity to see all 3 of them. DGD17 has been kind of laying back and not entirely rising to her end of the bargain, but hoping that will change in this last year of school for her. She's so 'capable' and I hate to see her going backwards. Know her dad got a letter last week that she was in danger of being removed from the National Honor Society. Wish her home situation was much different, but it is what it is. Sure could wish for dd to still be around to be the good mom she was to her dks.

Lucylee Here's my two cents worth - I'm wondering if ds and ddil probably don't want their baby to be one of those that takes $10K per year to raise. So they are trying to limit the amount of technology and consumerism around the baby. Embrace that. Tell your mom to give them a lovely photo frame, with a gift certificate for a session with a professional photographer and, if she wanted to give more, a cheque for them to spend money to buy what they need once they determine what they need. That way she gives them something to open, a memory and a practical gift.

Good morning, villagers ~

I'm satisfied with yesterday's conga. I got a lot of cleaning done, and tried a new recipe which DH approved.

All laundry is caught up. As soon as my jeans are dry, I can finish getting ready to go to the library's coffee club. Summer Reading Program starts this week and I want to ask about their activities.

I'm meeting a good friend for lunch in The Big City and will do some shopping after. I need to stop at the pet store for the indoor cat's food.

Elizabeth ~ Yes, we have outdoors cats neutered whenever we can coordinate being able to catch them with the veterinarian's surgery schedule. There is not an organization to help, so we have to pay for it all. We think it's worth it to stabilize the colony, otherwise as you say we would be overrun with cats.

A few years ago, DH located a veterinarian with a moble surgical RV and she was able to take care of 5 or 6 cats that day, both males and females. Unfortunately, shortly afterward the RV was destroyed in a fire and that vet has not been able to afford to replace it.

There is an animal clinic here in Tiny Town, but they are not terribly cooperative about neutering feral cats. For one thing, they only do surgery on 1 day of the week. For another, I think the office person is afraid of cats and really does not like them. The last time we took an injured boy cat to have his leg stitched (and be neutered as long as he was already under sedation), when I went to pick him up, I had to go back with her to get him out of their kennel because she didn't want to risk being scratched. It was not a big deal -- she opened the door, I held up the carrier and asked if he was ready to go home, and he walked right in.

So anyway, I leave most of the outdoors cat care to DH since he's the one who started feeding them in the first place.

I keep singing on the road again thinking of MT.

My take on kitchen towels. I use a dish towel for dishes only and change it daily. To dry my hands I use paper towels.

The ladies are here cleaning. Earlier all 3 were here just to chat and now the 2 are cleaning.

Hello everyone. I like today's theme as I was up early getting things done around here. So far I have 2 done:

Changed bed linens
1st load in washer. Rest of laundry sorted. All clean stuff folded and put away. I'm counting this as my 2nd of five.

Catch up day around here for me.

I have to make a meal for someone also and must take it around 4

We had a break from the rain and now it has started -again. Sure it's going to be all day now. (At least DS-A can use it -he was getting concerned about lawns not growing, thus having no work for his employees). DH was able to finish planting the plants he wanted to get done during the break. Now he's gone up to work (for himself) in the big barn. Seems strange with him only working 4 days a week. Unfortunately 2 of those days are weekends. Not sure how that's all going to pan out since there's so many things he does on the weekend. (Go to watch dgs12 & dsgd12 race on Saturday nights & dgs7 on Sunday afternoons, plus church on Sunday morning.) But it does seem good to see him able to spend time getting things done at our own place -things he WANTS to do and was usually irritated because he had no time.

I cleaned out our car enough to "invite guests in" Nees vacuuming really, really bad, but that's not happening today! I had switched doing dishes around with cleaning the car -glad I did since the rain started as I finished out there.

Have the heat on now -it was only 59 in here this morning. Broke down and turned it on. Warmed it up to 60 with the furnace, turned that off and now have the electric fireplace on low. I might as well turn it off while I'm gone -no one will be in here for a few hours.

Off to the dreaded dishes. I've been 'saving' them for about 3 days. Not so bad in an RV.

Well, scratch that plan. I waited too long after heating water and it was just past warm so I turned the heater back on for another 15-20 minutes. Switched with getting my hair washed (much easier for me one-handed over the sink). Water was warm enough for that.

Should l**t my 5 by 5 I reckon!
1) Wash hair
2) Clean out the car
3) Get the dishes done
4) Grocery shopping
5) Sweep through the RV

I'm up glad I worked on the kitchen last night while listening to hubby talk about the new job, the kit. looks good this morning!

Today I need to do some weeding it rained yesterday so don't know if it's dry enough to mow or not.

Sheets need to be washes as well. B.S. [blood sugar] is good today the extra walk I had after dinner must have helped.

Good News H. said when he got back in to the yard after work three of the folks from the office grinning came out to tell him some good news. Hubby had gotten a good report they said that their pickiest client had called to say that h. was a "keeper" and he would not have known he was a 'trainee' if hubby had not told him he was and did every thing perfectly!

Dee it sounds like you are getting our rain from yesterday. It was a gentle rain. Today our skies are overcast with occasional rain and when it isn't raining then drizzle.

I mended one of the girls slacks and told her if she brings them back I'll do them on the machine instead of by hand.

I insisted my ddad get a walk in, so we just got back. Not only will it storm today, it will be hot and we might get some lawn mowing done before the rain. So this was the right moment.

I'd better start acting as if I'm about to have a visit from dd32's family. HRH insisted we concentrate on my bday yesterday, since we will belatedly celebrate DangerBoy's bday while they are here. So I have a "FIVE", but general categories right now.

4 - groceries
5 - Desk Day finish

This post didn't make it here last night:

My bday present is the smallish tv set for the bedroom area that we've now set aside for privacy. This is not exactly a surprise, of course, but fun to get today. I know that my favorite use for this will be exercising! Now I need to clear the low dresser as a place for it ... ... it's a bit cluttered! But that job will definitely be worth it.

The card from the 3 grandboys is one with punch-out paper dolls, lol - great fun to save until they come visit. And DangerBoy's printing is coming along wonderfully. The one from HRH has several verses but the first talks about, " a woman who's not afraid to speak her mind or take a side." Of course after finding that one, he would have had no further card shopping to do - it had to be the one!

Sorry to hear about those very serious moments, Kathryn. Hopefully, the rest of his trip will be downright commonplace compared to earthquake jitters.
