SIDETRACKED HOMEMAKERS SATURDAY

As our title suggests -yes, I'm definitely sidetracked this morning. Been up for over 2 hours and only have managed to monkey around on my laptop, take meds and drink a cup of coffee. Now it's time to get UN-sidetracked and get ON-task!

I awoke to BRIGHT sunshine -now, it's very gray and rumbling. Rained just about all day yesterday. Think it's only supposed to rain a little today. DD has spoken about all the rain down there, Harmony. Know it's needed, but does it have to come in buckets?

DH is working this weekend. He's supposed to be working Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues now -so I guess we'll see how that works. I can't imagine it since Sat and Sun are his busiest days for 'social' things -like racing with dgks and church. Sunday is already pretty well taken up.

Thursday is dh's appointment with pulmonary Dr. Hoping he'll have some helps for dh.

I saw Dee's title and felt so warm and included!

Dd32's family arrived safely about 8:30 last evening. Ds27's family arrives at 12:00 noon and we'll all have a bday party for DangerBoy.

Inside voices! - Amused at Kathryn's house story - true, true, true, we all need to be aware of our "inside voices" even when we do not have close neighbors. "Hands" on the farm here a generation ago used to say it was a toss-up which of 2 of my dear uncle's wives yelled the loudest, because neither of them realized that their voices were carrying from their homes across the fields! So my dear uncles would go to the barns in the mornings not knowing they'd already been the butt of a few jokes. Thankfully, my ddad was spared this gossip. People would often have to ask my dmother to speak up because she was extremely soft spoken (even when she yelled, and of course sometimes she did), plus she was at school working some of the days.

An interesting point, btw, is that it is the evening and morning hours that noises of all types carry best, because of the moisture in the air.

Harmony good for you on carrying the meal. About staff, it would be appropriate if
1) this is an appreciation for staff and they don't get appreciation any other time of year
2) or if the staff has never been invited to learn about the kitchen and feels uninvited to do so.

Good Morning all.

We are sitting today as planned. Yesterday was a very long day so we could get away from the winds in Northern AZ. What we didn't count on was long delays for road construction. So DH was very tired last night. So today is a day of rest.

My goals today are to get some re-arranging done and to work on some stitchery for DGD#5. It is a mat for pictures from 1st grade to 12th. I have made one for all of her big sisters so it is now her turn. Then I have one to make for DGD#6 who starts 1st grade this fall. I have all the materials plus the frame for both of them with us.

Harmony: That was one of the things I disliked about our old church. The Deacons were thought to be the "cookie makers and meal takers". They never elected a man to the Deacons nor a women to the Trustees (the maintenance people). While it was true that the Deacons were to see to the people - it was meant to be to see to their spiritual well being - not feed them. Off soap box now.

I have refilled the vitamin containers for the next two weeks. Plus my nighttime vitamin container.

And I put away the pipe wrench.

I've done devotions (and I had three days worth to do) and practiced the three anthems for June 10. There's a choir practice this afternoon with whoever shows up (but including the minister since she'll be there with her son for the Sunday School closing practice.

I've also made my bed and laid out clothes for today. My lunch for today is also planned. Dinner might be too, we'll see.

My goal is a major house cleaning. Goodness knows if I'll achieve that. I keep turning off my computer in order to limit my temptation to waste another day.

Finally found my UN-sidetracked self and got down to business. I'm almost dressed to shoes -they're still a bit damp from yesterday. So I've placed them back in front of the heater (which is now turned down since it's plenty warm in here).

I've gotten a lot done once I decided to "Move it, move it, move it!" Think the only thing left on my l**t right now at least is to sweep through.

Good Morning Dear Ladies,

We got sunshine.

Yesterday at work we had a sale in the front of store, after moving out tons of stuff, it started to rain and everyone was scrambling to get it quickly.

More of dealing DH and anxieties here at home. Dson24 has said he wants to move to NC. He's going to save money for now toward that. Who knows Harriet maybe we'll meet one day for a real life chat in a cafe? But this left DH dealing with issues that bother him.

56 days until our trip.

Got to finish up and get ready for work.

Good morning. I have had a busy morning.

I had to talk to a few people about some things and finally finished those conversations. Jake and I took a long walk with a friend too.

It is a beautiful day here.

morning Ya'll.

I was up early this morning, but not by choice. The workers appeared on the build site next to house and by a little after 5am were banging away. at 5:45 they decided to turn their radio on and UP. Now I'm pretty easy going but not with that kind of stuff. I didn't sleep well last night and had enough banging going on in my own head, thank you very much, and they didn't need to add to it.

I call the non-emergency police and made a complaint. Wasn't sure about the working hours cause here in the valley those times get pushed back in the morning a bit cause of the heat. However the guys singing to their boom box or whatever isn't part of the deal. Anyway someone must have shown up cause the site is much quieter with only the banging going on.

Usually I love to hear the ...this isn't meant in a bias way....Mexican guys singing when they are up on the roof. Sometimes they sing to music and sometime they sing archipelago, but NOT at 6am and definitely not before I get my fill of coffee.

Yesterday I was overcome by whatever was in the winds. I sneezed and sneezed for hours and finally took something that stop the sneezing and itchy eyes but made me very sleepy. I've already been outside with Willis. We played Frisbee. Then Willis went swimming. Perfect exercise to get some of Willis' energy out of him. Watered all my plants while I was out. All my dailies are done so I think I will read some.

Tonight I am the honored guest at my retirement party. I'm looking forward to this one as it will be held at my bf's house and all the gals I worked side to side with for years will be there. We always have a blast when we get together.

It is sunny now and not too hot. I have a full day. I shouldn't be here right now, probably - except I'm eating b/c I'm hungry.

x dd14's field hockey game; they lost but the game was well-played by both sides
x hotel reservations for our trip next weekend to my parents anniversary party; I told Mom we would stay in a hotel. She didn't argue so that is good. Both she and Dad are recovering from some minor health issues, and she doesn't need to prep rooms for us. It's also nice to have your own space; my parents are very quiet reserved people and appreciate their space too.

still to come:
- pick up race packets at local high school
- dd14 to oboe teacher after 2 pm to try out the oboes
- groc. store
- take dd16 to the library for books for a history project
- get the house spiffed; it is pretty tidy right now
- small group here 6 - 9:30-ish
- take a car to somewhere near the end of the racecourse (downtown) to park overnight; it will be a zoo there tomorrow morning.

I'm up slept in today it's raining here so did not hear the neighbors dogs. Inside stuff is going.
Does any one know how to apply for a grant for back yard chickens?
[This morning I got a letter e-mail from my congresswoman so replied with a question if there were funds for back yard chickens for some one trying to get off food stamps for our county figured it couldn't hurt.]
