Friday Flip

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

What do you need to flip today?

Twin's need to flip into thinking of the new house as her home.

I need to flip the productivity switch.

Lucy and Harmony need to not flip on the 'comment on grandkids' switch! (You are doing great guys, keep venting here!)

I'm sure a number of you are looking for the 'normal' setting to flip on.

Have a great flipping Friday!

I was up at 5 for a pee break and went back to sleep. Woke up at 7:55 having slept through hours of the radio.

So I'm a bit behind.

I might have to go into Presbytery today, depending on when the recycle bin gets emptied. The resource person will be there so she's calling to let me know if there is room in the bin for me to get back to work on emptying the shelves of unbound material.

I have to practice my sermon another dozen times (I timed it last night and it is just right in length and OK in content, the ending is a bit weak.) I might pop into the other church today while it is open and practice it once from the pulpit there so I can see my 'sight' lines (at points in the sermon I should be looking up and knowing where my eyes should go is helpful - I can imagine that at my churches but this one is slightly different than my primary church (same architect and style but over the last 117 years the additions there have changed it a bit.)

My house needs vacuuming and mopping, too.

At least my exercise is done for the day.

AAUAUUGGHGHGH!!!!!!

I wish I could FLIP on a switch that would make my old computer work right again!!!!
I do NOT like this new one -- and get this -- it is just as slow as the old one was!!!! It seems like it takes FOREVER for a page to load.
We are using aol as our home page, accessed through internet explorer, and we HATE the way our mail appears, etc... We'd love to have our OLD aol page back but don't know how to get it.
Also, I cannot get signed in to my at&t account through mozilla, which is how I used to surf the net, and I liked that better, too.
I haven't even opened the Office 2010 stuff yet. I'll probably just cry when I see it.
But mainly, why is everything still sooo SLOW???
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've got to go s2s and get to the dentist. fun fun fun.
Tomorrow is another day.

Good Morning!

(((LucyLee)))) Sorry about the PC woes. I know your DH doesn't want to hear this........but AOL admits it slows computers down to a crawl. Maybe some of their suggestions will help.

I'm up and going strong this morning. When i walked to the road to get the newspaper, they were loading up ATV and horses so chatted with them while they finished the process. Yesterday one of the steers got through the fence and went exploring in the new housing development. UGgh! Country and city ways don't combine sometimes. People who work hard to keep a manicured yard do NOT want cattle/horses walking across them.

I'm doing normal daily AM cards while watching the clock.....will call for LO tests results soon.

I definitely need to flip out of the funk that I have been in. I haven't posted since the 2nd but I have kept up on all the posts. So much is going on here and of course IRL.

Dd2 dd turned 16 last week. DD1 dd15 is constantly causing drama. It just never seems to end.

The daycare will be able to get both little girls in starting the 23rd. Dd2 has been home since dgdalmost15mos was born. I have spent so much time with them and I will miss being able to see them anytime I want. I hate change and this will be a big change. I am proud of dd2 wanting to have her own business but I wish she would have waited at least another year. With 5 kids and a new business, she will meet herself coming and going. I have always pitched in and helped her out, but this is her dream not mine. She asked me to work for her but I know better than to do that. She will be closed on Mondays and then open Tuesday thru Saturday plus Sunday afternoons. I haven't asked what she intends to do with 2-4 kids every weekend while she has her studio open. Her and my dh each think the other expects too much of me. We will soon be starting on our list of home projects and they will be done on weekends. I won't be able to help him and watch 2-4 kids. Dd2 spends a lot of time "entertaining" her kids on the weeks the boys are home. I don't know how she thinks she will have time to do that and have a paint your own pottery studio. Plus her xdh has the boys play every sport and she doesn't want to miss any games. Then she talks about her "staff" running the business so she can be at the kids events. :o I am sitting here thinking that it will take a little while to have enough resources for a staff and until then it is a 1 or 2 person operation. I am going to try my hardest to stay out of it because I have no intention of doing all the work for nothing or money, especially since this is not my vision.

Last week I had a phone message from my dcousins dd who will be a senior. She is coming to our town for a 2 1/2 day seminar at our jr. college and wanted to know if she could stay with us. I wanted to say yes but don't tell your aunt/my dm or she will want to come with you. Anyway I called her back and told her yes. She said she would talk to her coach and get back to me. The next thing I heard was dm and both of her sisters plan to bring her out. :o   I heard this from dm. She said they would all stay in a hotel and that my cousins dd will be staying at the dorms. It started out that they were coming on Sunday and leaving Wednesday afternoon. On Sunday they planned to leave early and then after they arrive here, they want to go to a small town almost 2 hours west of us and go out to where their dgrandparents had homesteaded to show dcousins dd. Then they decided that was too much for 1 day so now they are coming on Saturday. They may be staying in a hotel but I will be responsible for their meals or most of them anyway. It just irritates me that when I go to dms town and stay in a hotel, I cannot even go to her house and we don't depend on her for our meals either. Last but not least I can not imagine dm and her 2 sisters together for that long. I guess they did go on the cruise but they had 7 other female relatives as buffers. Dm gets so bossy and no one wants to put up with that. Dm will turn 75 next month. I had intended to go back and go to her paternal family reunion dinner and then also have a family birthday party. Since they are coming here I decided that I will just have a party for her here, so that my dds and families will be there and call it good. My dds would not be able to go there for a party and would have been left out. But I really don't want to mess with any of it...............

I had a 3 month diabetes checkup and my A1C is too high. It is no wonder, I always feel stressed for some reason and that doesn't help my bs control at all. I am suppose to go back in 6 weeks. I really need to buckle down or those numbers won't go down.

And these are just some of the reasons that I need to flip out of this funk!

The A/C woke me up this morning so I flipped it off until eightish went for a walk and mowed doing the out side stuff while it was cool nice to get that out of the way. Now for the inside stuff kitchen duty mostly. So I need to flip my mojo to doing inside stuff. No yd. sales around today.

H. & I were fussing at each other this morning made me wish I'd waited until he left to get up need to flip my attitude as well! H. did fill the mower before he left. My mood had been in a funk this week so that needs to be flipped as well.

I also turned on the switch for the coffee maker. Deviled eggs and sausage for breakfast were great also had a cookie so I would not have to worry about being to low for mowing.

Done presbytery volunteering (filled 3 large recycle bins and still have 4 shelves of magazines to get rid of.)

Heading to lunch and then to this Sunday's church where I'll have a chance to get a feel for the sanctuary and pulpit.

It is hot here for us. Normally we only have 10 days over 86F (corrected, I converted 30C wrong) each year. We are up to 15 so far and another 5 in a row for us coming up. So keeping cool is on everyone's minds right now. We've also had only 1.5mm of rain over the past month so everything is over dry, the lawns are all dormant and crops are withering. Something for me to add to prayers on Sunday.

Edited to add: I can't believe we only average 10 days over 86 a year. Over 90 sounds about right but I'm sure high 80s are more common than 3 - 4 a month during the summer. Yes, Canada is cold, but not that cold!
