Re: Friday Flying...
Ds and I are both apparently fully oriented now, as of 20 minutes ago when I picked up ds. . . .So, I don't need to be driving to and from campus today.
I am tired; I've been getting 6 - 6.5 hours sleep/night this week. Well, it is probably a good idea to be tired when one starts a camping trip to help one sleep well in the tent. LOL! If I think I'm tired today, just wait until next Friday.
I have not done too much so far today, even though I got up at 7:15. I have:
-had bfast
-checked email, took care of one
-taken 2 (or 3?) phone calls from dermo. MD re: dd14; I am glad I called yesterday b/c she had fallen through the cracks. I'm wondering if this is the downside of taking her to the Univ. hospital; she is under a resident's care -- though, he is supervised by an established MD who sees her every visit as well. And he is very nice, if very young. It is possible she can go in today, take the test, and get registered.
-made phone call re: a medical bill. Check and bill had crossed in the mail so all is OK there.
-picked up ds
Today we will be prepping to leave tomorrow! Dh will be home later this afternoon. S and R are coming over tonight to finish packing their backpacks; dh lined up everything in 7 rows/piles before he left. We pretty much just need to pack our clothes, toiletries, hotel bag, and split the meals and supplies (tents, burners, dishes, fuel cells, etc.) across the 7 packs. Hmm.... that sounds like more than I thought. I'm thinking of just ordering pizza for us all.
I might try to go buy myself some tevas w/ straps; my tevas are sturdy flip flops, which I love, but strapped sandals are better for walking in water (so I can maybe "bathe" in Lake Superior).
Oh- hotel reservations! Egads - I had forgotten. I'll get on that next. Then, finish the a.m. routine.

Re: Friday Flying...
Good luck with your reservations, Helia!
this.
DD was just here with dgs7 to pick up dh's metal detector. They're going "treausre hunting" on the beach.
It's really fairly cool here today. I had to put on sweatshirt/jacket. Going for a walk as soon as I finish this. That will make 2 days in a row!
So, to stay accountable, I guess I best post when I come back.
Quiet here this morning.
We had just turned off the TV last night and dh got a fire call for a vehicle roll-over & driver ejected, not too far from here. DWI -but the worst part was evidently she was conscious and babbling about a passenger. They spent some time looking for "Rob". Turned out she was the only one. So it was wee hours before we got to sleep. Just when I thought I could sleep somewhat well.
Do pray for her that this that 'wake-up' call. Wonder if she knows how fortunate she is to even be alive.
Praying and thinking about all the people connected to the Colorado tragedy today. We're making sure the TV isn't on when dgs7 is around.
Going to go do that walk now. I've rambled enough.

Re: Friday Flying...
Just posting for accountability -took that walk -3,000 steps toward my goal of 10,000 today. I had probably gotten 500 or so in before I realized I hadn't reset my pedometer this morning. So started from here at zero.
We had all of 2/100ths of an inch of rain in the last day and a half. Keeps looking like rain today -only (like so many of us) can hope.
Going to force myself to be a social butterfly and go see my dneighbor. I find it hard to push myself out of here. DH on the otherhand is publc relation expert #1 here.
There is no way he can leave and be back in 5 or 10 minutes for a 2-minute mission. Usually it's more like an hour.

Re: Friday Flying...
Quiet morning in the village! I was up at 4:30 when a thunderstorm approached and Macs got me up. I tried sleeping on the couch for awhile but could never drift off. Did some computer time and read the paper and had my coffee before ds and dh were up. Because of the rain, ds wanted me to drive him to work today.
And I finally gave in. Got him to work, then went and got my chest X-ray and was done there by 8:15. Back home, ddogs got a walk around the circle to do their business. It was raining when I took them out early so we only stayed out long enough for them to pee. And then....I took a mega nap.
Now I have to pick ds up in an hour - he's working a short day and he said he'd treat me to lunch at least. Thankfully, it's not as far as it was from the mountain.
I haven't done anything toward a.m. routine. Going to try for some straightening up. I am really feeling low still.

Re: Friday Flying...
WTG getting that x ray done, Twins! Enjoy lunch with ds.
WTG with the walk, Dee!
It is cooler here too, but sunny.
Moving slowly. I did get the reservations made, emptied the dw, laid out my hiking clothes, and have s2s-ed and had some lunch.
Off to finish the a.m. routine.

Re: Friday Flying...
Gentle start to the day for me. I was out of bed earlier than usual because I wanted to turn off the radio - the news from Colorado was just too upsetting and I didn't need to hear it over and over.
Exercised fully, s2s and had my tea and breakfast. Unloaded the dishwasher, did devotions but am still 4 days behind, and then came inside (was on the porch) and chilled for a bit. I'll catch up quicker on the devotions in a couple a days since those readings are the ones I've been studying for this week's service. So I've actually read 3 of the next 5 in depth.
Went back outside and weeded while listening to the choir songs. I need to nail down the notes before tomorrow so I won't get lost when the other parts are surrounding me.

Re: Friday Flying...
Good morning, villagers ~
Errand day today. I've already s2s, washed and braided my hair and put on makeup. First errands were to the library and post office. Now I need to finish a couple reports and eat leftovers for lunch.
Then this afternoon I have a meeting with sewing group treasurer. After that I'm going to my favorite clothing store's half off sale and look for things they rarely have on sale, like socks and camisoles. Might stop at the used book store in the same strip mall. Also need to put gas in the car. And stop at Sam's for a few things, maybe they'll have a card for my prepaid phone.
Lucylee ~ You don't give yourself enough credit for all the things you do every day.
WTG Dee with 1/3 of your steps already walked!
Helia ~ Hope your camping trip is fun.
Twins' Mom ~ Moving and unpacking pains, ugh.
Nancy, thanks for starting the thread this morning. Glad your temps are cooler and hope you don't have a bad storm.
Hi, Kathryn.
, my watch is running slow again. Must run!

Re: Friday Flying...
I'm not flying today. I'm crawling. Figuratively and really - crawling around on the floor putting the quilt together. I had to take a break as I'm very stiff all over. This isn't aerobic exercise, but it's exercise nonetheless. Like a series of stretches I guess.
I'd allocated a couple hours this morning for this, and I need to get it done so I can get it off the floor and furniture pushed back into place. I had to start sweeping the floor and mopping, so that was good. I found a melted piece of candy under the loveseat...
Up very very late last night. Was making lunches for today and found what I thought was pepper sprinkled into a white bin...nope, some kind of tiny tiny little ants so small I couldn't even see them, just specks that moved. So in the wee hours I had to empty half the shelves of the pantry, rinse and clean everything...only one thing had them inside, my half filled container of rolled oats. Those cardboard canisters don't have much tightness to their lids. So out that went...and it looks very nice this morning and appears I got them all.
Helia, have fun on your camping trip.
Dee, I'm glad ddil is feeling better. Too bad about the accident, could have been prevented.
Booksaver, you reminded me my book arrived but I haven't had a chance to open the padded envelope.
Hello everybody. Anxious to hear from Sunny that she's arrived home safely.
So horrible in Colorado. What is wrong with this world.

Re: Friday Flying...
Back home without ds. I was almost there when he called and said his boss wanted him to finish something before he left today.
I took it well for his sake and told him I was glad he was doing the responsible thing and getting his work done. So he'll call when he's ready later.
Meanwhile, I am going to try to get something, anything done.
-clear kitchen counters
-make the bed
-fold two loads of laundry from yesterday
-what else?
