SUPER SUNDAY

Hoping you all have a super day. It looks stellar outside this morning. We managed about 1.10" of rain Thurs -Sat this week. Guess that's enough to end our drought for now. Hoping the rest of you get rain -those who so badly need it.

Got to bed very late last night. DH was waiting for the Christmas in July judges to make their last swing (after dark) so he could turn off the lights. We finally decided to turn in about 11:15. There were some very nicely decorated sites -some with obvious great thought put into it. One that I'm pretty sure will take the 1st prize for "electric" sites had a "Santa's 'Camping' Cabin", with a Santa coming out of an outhouse and then a full-size row boat in lights pulled by a reindeer. The cabin was very artfully designed and they had their campfire behind it, making it look like there was a fireplace going inside the cabin.

Trying out a new 1-cup coffee maker today. Dawned on me after dh had gone out that I probably didn't put enough coffee grounds in his.

Guess I'd better get around & get ready for church. 9am will be here before I know it. Then we go to dniece's for a graduation party. Looking forward to seeing db & everyone.

I typed as fast as I could but couldn't beat Dee's post so if you saw a post disappear, that's why!

No rain here. There was a great, soaking, rain on Thursday while we ate just 50 miles from here but at home the gauge showed only 2 mm (less than a 10th of an inch) higher than Monday night and since getting back home - no rain for us. So our drought continues. Some of trees are now dropping leaves and was listening to the branches crackle as a squirrel when through the oak this morning. It sounded like kindling popping in a fire.

It is cooler and more cloud cover so it doesn't feel as much like an oven these days.

I'm up. Headache again for the 4th or 5th day in a row. Period is due but not yet here, weight is up the 2 lbs and my patience has long left the building.

My computer lost its ability to connect to the internet yesterday which meant it took every bit of my operating system know-how to connect - each and every time my computer was suspended (which was happening a lot since I was out and about with my laptop. Once at home, I was able to take the time to temporarily cure this but this is the 6th time it has happened in the past 6 weeks (and the worst for not responding.) I'm guessing a Windows Update is not playing nice with my Lenovo software because this time I had to actually go to the Windows connect options since Lenovo could not see that I had any internet capability.

Every website offering video of the parts of the Olympic opening ceremonies I wanted to watch is blocked in Canada and CTV who is offering online coverage here is both slow and stupid. For instance their highlight reel from the ceremony has the winter Olympic theme song playing overtop of the video so you don't hear the audio - no explanation of what is happening, just a few seconds - not even enough to register what is happening since one has to figure it out from the visual but 3 seconds is not enough. Most frustrating is I can see people singing (the part I was told to watch) but I can't hear them. Seriously, CTV, why bother putting that video up?

For some reason I was able to watch the Mr. Bean section on a UK website but the 'Queen' arriving by helicopter was blocked so I was just able to watch the film they played with Bond taking the Queen to the helicopter. The actual, in the stadium, special effect was blocked.

I will not spend any time watching the Olympics and since the news is completely dominated by that, we aren't watching news at night and are finding ourselves shutting off the radio or just having it on for the few minutes of the newscast. We really don't care. We went camping for a week of the Atlanta Olympics and it was glorious - no coverage at all for a week!

Anyway, you can see my crankiness in the above post. So life is feeling oppressive here and it isn't just the heat and humidity.

Good Morning!

I visited my colorist this morning. I'm almost out of supplies and resist taking a three year old into the beauty supply store to shop. Hum....maybe I can find them online? Yup! I think that would be a solution.

I just checked the drought monitor condition to find we are still classified as extreme. Which is bad, but not as bad as last year. DParents are greatly concerned they will lose the big trees in their yard and are watering several times a day. They know they are fighting a losing battle because water restriction are soon to come. I talked/see DParents a couple times daily and that is their main topic of conversation. Isn't it a good thing when weather is a main topic of conversation?

59*-94* Today's temps. it was not quite so bad yesterday maybe we are adjusting to it a bit.

H. left for work an hour earlier today than yesterday. Hubby made the coffee for me today. He is glad for the work as am I, but it's not a super Sunday for him. Verdict is still out for if I am having a super Sun. or not yet. I'm up have picked up the apples.

We are out of cocoa and creamer both. But no worries not drinking so much coffee in the summer. I need to do a store run & pet chores today at some point. I've had breakfast.
Next up make the bed.

K in C I hear you! I had a hard time staying interested in Olympic coverage after seeing some results on Yahoo but h. filled me in about the swimming one I guess he heard it on the radio had a better grasp as to what was going on than I did from the bit I read. Went to bed early so did not see the opening much except just a bit w/the countries marching in that was boring in a word!

We had several inches of rain the week before this week that just ended, but none in a week now. The back yard has dried up now (except for runoff from the sprinklers in front) and the soil is cracking.

Racing hearts moment just now - was watering ferns on the back patio and my dogs went out when dneighbors dogs were off the leash next door. Their dogs darted over to our yard to see my dogs and I was afraid Macs would hurt the little one before we got there, but dneighbor got to them quickly. I was running for all I was worth. Moses played nice and did some friendly sniffing with the bigger of the two - a rescued very docile non aggressive pit bull mix once I had Macs corralled. Yesterday my two went through the invisible fence on the driveway to go for a little stroll so hopefully it will keep them in in the future.

Hope Jake is feeling better and eating and drinking today. Poor little guy.

Today dh and I are going to buy the little chest and need a trip to Petsmart. He has an engagement out of the house this afternoon, and then we will both go to a dfriends to see off their grown daughter who will be teaching in Spain this year.

I'm feeling overwhelmed again with all the stuff that dh and I brought in from the garage. I hate to have it so cluttered up that the dcleaning lady can't do her magic.

Twin's does your invisible fence come with a portable shocker? The one across the street does, so if she can get close enough to the loose dog, she can shock even once past the perimeter. That takes the benefit of short term pain for long term gain out of the equation. I'm glad I took the time to talk to her because Sasha hasn't been back on our property since.

I don't mind the dog out, much, but I do mind that Sasha thinks we have no right to be here and is very aggressive at trying to herd us away from our property when she gets out (barking threatening at us and lunging.) The adults in the house are not irresponsible, she gets out by the 3 year old opening the back door and saying "Go to the Park, Sasha!"

Back from church. It turned out to be an hymn sing which isn't good for me. The last thing I need is more singing right now.

I did a load of laundry and got it on the line before church and the second load is on the line now (the first was dry when I got home.)

I recorded the last half of my friend's church service. He's away this week so they had a retired minister fill in and the service ran long. I'm looking forward to hearing the sermon, my friend's are always within 14 seconds of 10 minutes (it is easy to time when it is on my mp3 player!)

I read, cold, the moment for mission reading this morning and was pleased with myself. It was word perfect and proper enunciation and intonation. I can see myself getting much, much, better at this stuff.

Posted a couple of pictures of ds on the members only board. No particular reason, just bursting with pride over him these days.

Hello, villagers ~

DH just got out of bed (he stayed up all night watching movies) and now he's trying to decide whether or not he wants to walk to the truck stop. It has been so blazing hot for weeks that he hasn't been able to walk, and he misses it. Today it's only in the 80s so he might walk at least 1 way.

Harriet ~ Brilliant idea for shaping a circus tent cake. "It's all good!"

DH's niece posted a photo on fb this morning of a reusable water bottle that is glass, with a screw top and encased in some sort of padded holder. I asked where she found it, and she said Target by the water filter supplies. That may be worth a special trip. It looks like the top is a wide mouth, so it would be much easier to clean, as well as add ice cubes.

No portable shocker here. In fact, as you've observed once the dog is outside the fence they won't come back in because they get shocked again. This morning dneighbors dogs had their collars on and neighbor started to carry the little one back over with the collar still on, and that was the issue with my dogs when they got out yesterday. DMacs will hardly look at the driveway now when walking by, even without the collar; I had to get my sunglasses out of the car earlier and he wouldn't let me take him up the driveway to my car while on the leash.

I think I have plantar fascitis starting up in my left foot. Pain under the heel and it's getting worse rapidly. I switched to more supportive shoes - almost hiking boots - several days ago and that hasn't helped.

Dh and I made the trip to get the little chest for our entry hall from garage, also got dog food and some things at Petsmart and at Lowes. I really need to get busy - dh has gone out so I have some time w/o him underfoot.
-clear kitchen counters, etc.
-dust the new little chest of drawers
-straighten great room
-start a lol
-clean up the packing materials in the DR - I went from there yesterday to cleaning up the garage and never got back to the DR

Ready, set.......GO!

BTW, Bookie, I got a water bottle like that maybe last year and I love it. The casing stuff is a soft plasticy material so it's protected. The trouble is, when ds is home he considers it to be his exclusive water bottle and only brings it downstairs for refilling and occasional washing.

Dh has left so it is movie time for me! I'll bring down the ironing and at least do that while watching the movie.
