We had breakfast on the deck, it's a brisk 61* outside this morning.
I've picked up apples and made coffee.
Looking at the free ads paper there are a couple yd. sales close by this weekend so I'll be checking them out.

Thanks for opening the thread this morning, Nancy.

I don't really have a favorite tv show, though I record several and watch them when I get the chance. I like fast-forwarding through the commercials and boring parts.

Thursday night is for Project Runway, which is interesting when they actually show the designers doing things related to sewing the clothes. Unfortunately, the majority of the show (as is the case with the majority of many tv shows these days) concentrates on personal drama between the contestants.

I'll be enjoying another Apron Day today. There are a couple of loads of laundry. I'm planning to declutter a particularly stubborn storage space.

I can't decide whether or not to run errands in The Big City this afternoon. We finally have a quite cool day (upper 70s) so I might be able to make real progress with cleaning, hate to interrupt that. I'll take another look at the list and if none of the errands is urgent, I'll do them tomorrow instead.

My sister gave me a basket of zucchini from their garden. I found a recipe to try that will use 2 or 3 of them.

I sure hope everything goes better today for our villagers who were having tough challenges yesterday.

I don't normally watch tv either and the commercials are driving me nuts over this past week.

I did turn on the Canada/France Bronze medal game and watched the whole thing this morning. Canada won in the last 30 seconds, just as they lost in the last 30 seconds against the US. Was it worth watching all 95 minutes of soccer? Maybe not, although I did get the sense that France was the better team and luck was a definite extra player for the Canadians. I feel sorry for the French but putting the ball in the net is the purpose of the game and the Canadians did it so they deserve the medal.

No headache this morning (thankfully), tummy hurts. Had a rough hour in the middle of the night when my pain level was a 4 spiking to a 6 and it took a long time for me to get control of it. Threw up a lot last evening before dh came home so went to bed feeling pretty lousy and then the rough hour at 2 made things worse.

I've had about 2.5 glasses of liquid, some applesauce and two crackers so far today.

I've been watching the Olympics some this and last week. I frankly don't know how to operate the TV, but if someone else turns it on, I'll watch.

I'm at work today. Need to leave to meet with Rabbi at 1:30 and Moe is at the vet for a bath today. Shelves in garage are being installed today, I hope. Original word was that they would be there at 9:30 (which was why I rescheduled the rabbi, so I could stay at home until arrival) but yesterday dh was informed it would be later in the day, so I've left dkids in charge.

Not wanting to be at work and looking forward to the day I can "retire" with Cowinkie and Lucy!

Good morning!

I rarely watch TV. I keep up with the local news through FB feeds. I've hear the Olympia games are going on, but I only know that because our neighbor flew to London to watch the horses jump.

I enjoy watching old episodes of TV shows without any advertisements. I'm currently watching West Wing. Sometimes it takes me a week to watch a 45 minute episode, so I'm thankful Kindle Fire is good about keeping track of where I hit the pause button.

I need to GMAT. Yesterday afternoon I reminded DH that I'm good during a crisis, but I tend to fall apart after it is over. I needed some time to fall apart voluntarily before my body demanded it happen. He took over LO care for the rest of the day and I just mentally tuned the world out. I'm feeling better today....although I'm tempted to take a few more hours. However the clock is ticking, the world continues to spin..... so i just need to "pull my big girl panties on" and get back into the ball game. I'm behind in everything. I really don't want to leave the house in this state.

We are leaving in the morning to help DSon & family for a few days. We will also be celebrating DGS5 turning 6 years old. DDIL puts lots of time & effort into planning kids birthday parties, so it will be fun to see what she has planned for this one.

Nancy--Like you topic for today. Other than "The Middle", I don't have any favorite shows. DH likes "American Pickers" and "Pass Time" (I think that's what it's called). We have cable TV for the first time ever. Only got 1-3 channels here, depending on which way the wind was blowing, without it! Used to be a news junkie, but have not gotten attached to the TV news people here. When DS was little, a friend at school asked him if we were poor, since we didn't have cable. DS summed us up perfectly when he answered "No, we're not poor, just cheap!"

Emptynester--appreciated your advice to work according to the weather. With that in mind, I'm off to finish cleaning the decks with OxiClean.

Except for waiting with baited breath for Howard to come safely down out of the heavens in the next season premiere of Big Bang Theory, I guess I don't get too excited about recent tv. Yes, American Pickers is compelling, and as I commented with Harmony, Duck Dynasty has been fun, wholesome (which is probably why it won't be aired long). I continue to try to enjoy those parts of hoarding shows that actually have to do with the surroundings rather than somebody's bad temper - better if they are recorded to fast-forward through. HRH is a history-channel, science-channel type of guy, wondering about tsunamis and such, although he likes car repair shows and thinks dd should watch All Girls Garage. I wish we could get BBC, especially to see the new Horizon series (health), but we can at least find it on YouTube.

That doesn't mean the tv screen is not also at work here on higher and better purposes. Old shows from Stooges to Keeping Up Appearances, to The Munsters to Perry Mason are often appreciated. And how can I forget - all my workouts require the tv screen!

Oh, one more of note - HRH watched the entire Mars landing the other night while I slept and also recorded the broadcast for dd.

Glad to hear OKay and Kathryn both feel better in some ways at least, today.

Very hopeful we'll hear good news for Indiana, too.

HRH made a steak breakfast this morning, with hash browns. Very unusual for us, but nice.

I've done a lot of general straitening and pick up so far.

Good Morning Dear Ladies,

Started with a cool morning in the 70's but now it headed up to the 100 mark. Enjoyed the cool while it was here.

Last night was hectic in prep for inventory today. Trying to re-assemble items that people had torn apart and needed to be put back out, I cut my finger. It was my right ring finger and seems to get in the way a lot today.

TV shows, I record several on the DVR and fast forward through the commercials. Suits, Burn Notice, Army Wives, Leverage, Rizzoli and Isles comes to mind. Some are more guy related for family viewing and some are gal shows I watch by myself. Usually watch a couple when I come home from work.

Have done dishes, done the vinyl put some lunch together.

Good morning!

I have walked this morning and then mowed. Need to get a shower and get busy.

Dd2 is still painting and hopes to be done today. I have went twice and pulled F rog tape off for her. I might try to go later this afternoon, since she is trying to finish today.

When dd2 walked in the door at home last night she realized the a/c wasn't working, again. It was 86 in there and this is the 3rd time since Father's Day that they have had trouble. The guy came out last night and he needed a part that he couldn't get until this morning. He is back working on it.

Tuesday I had a dentist appt for a 6 month cleaning and when I came home, dh was home sick. He said he felt groggy. Dd1 came over and took his blood pressure, listened to his heart and took his pulse. Everything was fine. He rested all day and went back to work yesterday and is fine.

Last Thursday one of the school nurses that dd1 works with, had been involved in interviews for a new school nurse. When she went home she felt tired and took a nap. When she woke up, she was clammy and her lips felt numb. She called one of the other school nurses to come and check on her. She lives by herself, several miles from town. When that nurse took one look at her, she called for an ambulance. She had had a heart attack. She had one artery that was 100% blocked. They were able to keep her here and they put a stent in. She is one of those people that does everything right to be healthy, so it is very scary that it happened to her. I am sure her sons are getting a wakeup call. Their ddad and her xh, had a massive heart attack 13 years ago and he was gone. She is out of the hospital and on the road to to recovery.

Tuesday afternoon the libraries automated system called to notify me that a book on hold was available. I picked it up, came home and started reading it. I read yesterday morning until I finished it. The I took a shower and started my day. Once I start a book, I have a hard time doing anything else.

We are cool today too, in the 70s with a gentle rain falling. It is wonderful! We really needed rain!! We're hoping that our ground cover and flowers will perk up now.

We have a TV, a gift from my parents when ds was born. That makes it 18 years old!! We don't watch it regularly, though. We watched a couple evenings of Olympics last week, mostly to see the gymnastics. And we use it for DVDs and dkids use it with the wii. If there is a 3rd? season of Downton Abbey, I wouldn't mind watching that on TV.

I am taking a break for some lunch. I need to leave in 15 minutes to take dd16 to her mentor meeting. She got to insert DNA into some cells yesterday and will find out today if it took -- or something. Despite this experience, she is talking more about art as a possible Univ. major; she is young and doesn't need to make such a decision yet. We'll support her whichever direction she decides to go. I wonder if those 2 could be combined, though?
