FRIDAY FUN

Post by Emptynester »

It is time to have some fun. Life is too serious - stop and smell the roses and have some fun. What can you plan today?

Today we are going to go see some old friends from our old neighborhood. Then we are going to eat at an old favorite restaurant. Then we will spend two days at our son's house playing with DGD#6.

So to do that -- I must -- Eat breakfast and take morning meds, S2BF, pack a change of clothes and various charging devices for phones, Kindles and Nooks, wash dishes and pick up footsteps and be on the road in about 2 hours.

Not an insurmountable goal.

I will be checking in via the Kindle later in the day. Have a great one - and have some fun!!

Do you have a K indle F ire, MT? I hadn't even thought about getting on to the board from dh's Fire.

I fell asleep, woke up with an allergy issue and finally took a benadryl for that. Then, of course, I slept in this morning. I've not done anything yet, but am about to get up and start.

Dneighbor came over while we were gone last night and cleaned the outside of our dining room and living room windows. I had mentioned the other day that I wanted to do those but wasn't sure I could. Bless her heart. Sure wasn't asking for help. But she has to be busy. :D

Off to my PODA!

Ah, I like your theme for today, MT.

I have:
x s2s-ed
x fed ddogs
x checked emails
x cleaned eggs; I was behind in that
x started recharging my ipod
x made a cup of tea.

I like Harriet's wisdom of not getting on the computer until my morning card is done. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm not getting on first thing in the a.m.

FUN here will be tonight when I pick up dh and girls from the airport. :) I've loved my time alone, but I've really missed them too.

Dd16 decided to buy a Nook a while ago. I know she really likes it. From my point of view, it sure beats trying to find enough books for her, and then lugging them around in heavy suitcases when we travel with her.

I emailed Hank's owner re: past (and possibly still present) flea issues here, and she decided to leave Hank at his house. Myself and/or one of the girls will go over to care for him 2x/day. I'll go over early this evening before I head over to the airport.

I need to leave for WW in 20 minutes. In that time, I will finish the a.m. routine and get the chicken's feeder set back up.

While I'm out, I hope to go to WW, bank for cash, and gas the van.

BBL with much progress to report!

As usual, I'm out of step with others. I'm on the computer first, then will get up.

I'm working from bed this morning since I can do computer stuff lying down. This means I won't be wasting my 'up' time, sitting at the computer. Sitting does not count as resting time for me.

For the past few mornings, I haven't had any energy first thing in the morning. On the other hand, the days I was energetic followed nights when lights out was before 10. The past few nights have been well past 11.

As for planning, I've sent an email to our travel agent, cancelling our reservation for January. The final payment is due next Tuesday and there's no way I'll know by then if I can travel in Jan. As well, I have no idea what this is going to do to my travel medical insurance plan. I bought it when I thought I was well, but it goes into effect next week and, of course, I'm sick now so have a preexisting condition.

My goals for the day (aside from getting dressed and eating 3 healthy meals):

1. Clean bathrooms (15 minutes)
2. Vacuum upstairs (15 minutes)
3. Sweep kitchen floor (5 minutes)
4. Damp mop kitchen floor (15 minutes.)
5. Update quicken (15 minutes)
6. Pay bills (10 minutes)
7. Do payroll for August.(10 minutes.)
8. Phone the specialist (5 minutes.)

Dinner is Chinese food for dh, chicken fingers and sweet potato fries for me.

I'd also like to buy a smart phone today but I don't want to drive into the city unless I know for sure the store has the phone I want. So that means another phone call and to make arrangements for dh to take me into the city.

5x5

1. Clean our dresser top
2. Put away stainless 'shelf'
3. Clean 12 cup coffee pot
4. Strip our bed

5. Strip dd's bed in MH

this of course will demand more steps

1. Launder sheets
2. Make up our bed
3. Make up bed in dd's MH
4. Sweep through MH
5. Wipe up where needed in MH

It may get too hot today to finish all of the things in the MH, because it's parked in 'storage' with no power right now.

m up took my meds. B.S. is up today coffee is brewing having it black
for now that's all I can have.
I've made the bed.
Free day Friday for me.
I need to keep working on the current puppet project on the last of it now. Then it's back to the prayer shawls. I'm going to make up some pot holders to have on hand but I'll need more yarn before I do any.
I've been working on the groc. list.

Got my book from the library "the field guide to chickens" very interesting and I'm learning a lot just reading photo captions! It's answered some q.'s I had about the kind I chicken I saw up the road.

Ellyphant: My bday is Sun. I'm used to my bday being lost in the shuffly that weekend and usually plan alternate day for fam. stuff but this year dson & wife & kids were going to do a thing at R ed Lobster, then had to change the date b/c of a communication snafu with a bdayparty [70th] for dil's dad. I do better if it's not planned than to have a plan and have it changed for some reason. I have bday issues. But I"m better now! #1 Dgd waits till school starts some years to do things with her friends as they get out of touch in the summer. Dd's kids will be here and go to church w/ me as h. will have to work. Oldest Dgson [step] goes back to his mom's that weekend so he won't be there.

Today a solitude day. H's working a super long shift as they have that big pour today. Glad I have the chicken book LOL! That just sounds funny!

My I'm chatty must be time to journal. I'm reading a bizzillion posts on the Back Yard Chicken website.

Friday Fun will start for me late this afternoon, when we leave for dinner in Atlanta and vacation. Between now and then I have a full slate, in part because I slept in this morning.

Errands:
gas and wash car
old house to replace light bulbs
drop suit at alterations place
send care pkg to dd with Tanach
find candy or something else to put in the box to dd
P/u at drugstore
Buy dog food

Here at home:
water plants
get packed
laundry
leave house in decent condition
respond to an email from yesterday

What else?

First round:
-get dressed to head out for errands
-respond to email
-meds for me
-clear kitchen counters
-find a box for book to go to dd
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

Happy Anniversary Twins' Mom and Twins' Dad.

lucylee, of course you know I read your post from last evening with trepidation! No, long lists that just carry over are not our friends, and it gets worse if someone is not feeling well, like your dmother. Good idea to go over to small pieces of paper - I love 3x5s you know - and, like we so often do here, just think in terms of 5. This can be the 5 "up next" for that morning, or make another for the 5 to do by a certain event, like by next dr's appt. Divide and conquer by separating into time-frames or areas of life. I hope she has some relief from my long-time nemisis, the dreaded List Allergy. (shudder)

Happy trails, Emptynesters.

Good Morning!

Today is going smooth - AM routine done, LO delivered to his school classroom with no mishap. I had to make a second trip home/back to school to deliver the candy (to throw during the parade) & water bottles for the kids.

Parade = FUN!! This is a small town type of parade. All of the town police cars (2) and fire trucks (3) will lead the start of the parade with their sirens blowing. Each grade (aka every child) in school is in the parade plus the typical line of tractors, horses carriages and old cars. There will be twice as many people IN the parade as watching it. :)

Closet cleanse project - DH finished installing electricity in LO closet last last night so I can start putting things back in an organized manner. Yesterday I went through LO existing clothes plus 4 tubs of clothes that have been given to him and sorted them into categories. End result is I now know exactly what LO has/needs and have two 50 gallon size bags filled & ready to delivery to GW.

LO needs jeans but he can't button/snap the waist by himself. I'm working with him on developing this "skill" but until he can do it, he is wearing elastic waist type shorts to school. He is growing so fast that I don't want to buy jeans until the moment he is ready to wear them. Once he gets the ability to do his own jeans, then I can buy his jeans for the next couple of months (he has grown 4 sizes this summer!)
