SATURDAY SIMPLICITY

Just keep it simple today. Do what you have to and enjoy the day.
I'm sipping my last cup of coffee for a week. Have my mammogram scheduled for Friday and can't have the caffeine (as I'm sure you all know) for 5 days before. I usually can take it or leave it, but KNOWING I can't have it, I'll probably want it.
I found the discussion of sleep apnea interesting. As many of you know I'm a great proponent of getting it checked out and treated (for newbies this is what our dShelley died from 3 years ago). Never realized before that how serious it can be. With her, it had been going on for years and she no longer used her cpap. We can only surmise that she felt she didn't need it after losing so much weight. It was discovered later that her brain had suffered some very adverse affects. That at least explained some of her behavior changes over her last couple of years.
I'll tell my one 'rooster story'. I still remember today -I was only about 3 when we visited my great grandmother and great grandfather. Their rooster chased and pecked at me and I can only remember dgg immediately giving that ol' rooster its last rites. Had nightmares for a long time so never went near those fowl if I could help it!
Slept fairly well last night until 2a.m. Was awake till 3 and then woke back up at 5:15. That's all she wrote. I'm up, s2s and meds done. Have a bunch of things I want to do today. Considerably cooler today. Have a pig roast here tonight. Just about the last big day here except next Saturday is "Halloween" here. That used to be a big production, but is no longer. Just trick or treat, wagon rides, cider & donuts, pumpkin carving. Tonight there's the pig roast, then a band (which I rarely go down for -too loud!), and fireworks at dark. Actually the fireworks are left over from the 4th of July -the weather turned and he didn't get them all in. Guess the manufacturer is sending in a crew to do it all. DH likes that!

5x5
1. Cut out coupon pages from last Sunday (dh brought me 11 extra of 3 booklets of coupon pages -so should be able to find some for me or dd or both)
2. Do dishes
3. Do LOL
4. Go to farm market to see if they have Cortland apples yet & spaghetti squash (1 orchard has a big article in this week's paper that for the first time since 1945 they have no apple crop -due to the weather early spring)
5. Go to bank to deposit checks from 2 weeks for dh
Goal for today for self: get in 10,000 steps!

3,000 at 1p.m. Got a lot to go before the day is done!

Good Morning Dee and all the ladies still to come.
I have reserves today and tomorrow and am up d2socks (don't want to put my boots on til the last minute) Just need to grab my coffee and head out. Thankfully I live about 1.5 miles from the reserve center so I could keep hitting the snooze this morning.
Have a great day all.

Scattered, no wonder you feel so scattered, you're a busy person going in lots of different directions! School, reserves, work, home....
I also recall being cautious of roosters as a child - early on my grandmother who lived next to us had chickens, and my other grandparents also had chickens so there was plenty of exposure. Seems like lots of other relatives were in a rural environment also.
Today's PODA
-write my "speech" for Rosh Hashanah services on Monday a.m.
-pick up suit at alternations place
-make sweets for Rosh Hashanah reception at temple tomorrow night
-watch some of TN/FL football tonight.
I was thinking of trying to get a pedicure today, but I think I may just plop a coat of polish on myself and call it good.

Rough night. Napping in the evening meant I didn't turn out the light until 1. Then dh was twitchy and his moving around bugged me. I finally made him take an advil at 2:30 and got to sleep around 3 myself. Woke up at 7:30. But just getting out of bed now.
First challenge, start the crock pot.
Second, s2s, eat breakfast, run dishwasher
Third, Sunday School prep
Fourth, watch the last 2 episodes of Monk
Anything else will be gravy today.

Good morning! Lots of rooster stories.
My grandma had lots of hens but no roosters that I can recall.
I hope your wounds are healing, Elizabeth.
Smiling at Cicely. Our hen Iris went broody once.
My mom recently had her sleep apnea diagnosed and now sleeps with a machine. She is finally enjoying feeling rested after a night's sleep for the first time in her adult life. At age 71.
I'm the only one up at 9:30. Dd16's friend ended up sleeping over.
I went out a little earlier this a.m. to shush Pepper's barking only to find her happily playing with the lab (retriever) of my GP, who happens to live in our neighborhood and apparently walks his dog and lets him play with Pepper regularly. So, I chatted with him for a while. It felt slightly odd since he knows so much about me. . . .
but he is a really nice guy. I like the fact that he is older than me.
6x6
1. make banana bread; I think ds is stopping by to use the car and I promised him some when he first moved out. He loves banana anything. "Nana" for banana was his very first word! Yes, before "Mama" or "Papa." Now that he is out of the house, we can't eat our bananas fast enough -- hence, a steady supply of overripe bananas for bread.
2. groc. store - sundry items to prep for small group here tonight
3. tidy flower gardens at the end of the driveway
4. trim crabapple sprouts
5. make spinach lasagne pasta casserole for tonight
6. make sure house is clean for tonight -- but it is already in decent shape, so this will be details
I have decided that my regular routines should not be on my 6x6 lists.
Small group ramblings: Dh will do the soup kitchen this afternoon. Small group will be here at 6. I think this small group will be disbanding. 2 of the families involved have bowed out. One, our friends S and R, have simply switched to our other younger more Univ. related small group. My best friend B and her dh are OK with the group disbanding since they have another group. She and I will just step up our efforts to get together outside of the group. As for dh and myself, we would be sad to see it break apart -- but would love to not have meetings every single Saturday night. The possibility of having regularly occurring free Saturday nights makes me feel positively gleeful!!
This leaves one family and one single who may be left out. . . . So, we will have conversations tonight. Yes, we started up both groups. We thought the Univ. related one would disband a year ago after 2 families, with the dhs earning doctorates, would graduate and leave. However, the group took on a life of its own. It is a really fun group; dh and I are by far the old fuddy duddies in the group; the other couples are in their 30s. This is the group with 6 kids, ages 1 - 7 for whom dd16 babysits.
Have we lost Bernice?

Still have our room, the livingroom, kitchen, laundry and storage areas in the garage, it all will get done
For Room Mom..I am planning the Fall Festival for 8's class and the Holiday Party for the twins, so have my thinking cap on and getting busy on those.
That is about it, today we have a soccer game at 1, tomorrow twins have a Birthday party to attend.
Hope you all are doing good, sending prayers, hugs and WTG's to you all.

and sending Sweet Dreams to Lynlee
Today is a free day! Nothing on the schedule and no burning
need to do anything. I'm loving the simplicity of it!
I do have extra energy and a desire to do a slew of things, but will try to keep things simple as possible. Focus on the 3D's and let the rest happen....or not.
