PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION TUESDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

LucyLee made this statement last night. A good title I thought -just what we all need to see "Progress" but it doesn't need to be "Perfection" to move forward. Perfection for me would be to have everything organized and packed by this next week. But, realistically, Progress in that direction is far better.

I've been awake since before 4:30 -wish I could go back to sleep at that point in the day. Opened up a couple of small shades -the windows are so steamed I can't see out of them, but at least the sun is shining in one of them. I can't manage to get the bigger shades open with only one arm. DH may open up another for me when he stops by. I can't stand being this closed in.

I've tested BS -good # this morning -98. It's a struggle but I'm getting there at least. I've also lost 13# since we came home in the spring -most of that in the last couple of months. I'm sure my BS #'s and my knees will both thank me for every pound lost. To say nothing of my Dr. being a bit happier with me. Just finished my coffee and have had breakfast. Water is hot for dishes. Wanted to do them last night but it was nearly 10pm by the time we got home (I had church council & it went the latest it has in years.) Nothing earth shaking, just some discussions took longer. My last 'physical' meeting until spring.

Have to go to church tomorrow night for dh to attend an informational meeting on a mission trip to New Orleans 9th ward this coming February. He's thinking about driving there from dd's in FL. She's also expressed interest in taking off from school for a week -something she never does! I would feel better about them going together I think. I figure it's going to be almost as far as driving from here to FL.

Dee - Your resident RN is very proud of you! Great job on the BS and weight loss! *5 *5 two high fives for that.

I am home to sleep fast, have to be back in at 3pm!!! UGHHHHHH!!!!! at least I will be off at 11:30 pm and get to sleep in in the morning. Have checked the bank accounts and email, now time to head to bed. Took some tylenol and half my regular dose of melatonin, hopefully I can get 5 hrs of sleep and not be groggy. This evening is my 1st night with the new batch of orientees, they are both techs so I only have them for this week.

Have a great day Villagers!

I'm up and at it with gusto this morning. Will fail soon, I suspect but I worked out on the treadmill, did my floor exercises, s2s (including straightening hair), put away the dishes in the drainer, put away the last of the china from Thanksgiving dinner, and wiped down the kitchen cupboards.

Having my tea now.

My first meeting today is at 10 so I need to eat soon. No sign of dh downstairs but I think I heard water running so he's probably getting dressed. He was out of bed at 6:40 but gets on the exercise bike and gets distracted doing email and then it is only his computer running low on battery that gets him moving.

Ivy The prestuffed turkeys take way longer to cook so be prepared for that. The gravy is also really easy because of all the seasoning in the stuffing and basting injected into the turkey. All you do is add water and flour and stir until it is the right consistency. No figuring out how much seasoning to add.

Harriet If dd has ds' old room (I think your dad is in dd's old room, right?) then it might be a bit tight to do a diagonal from the wall. I was going to suggest thrift store shopping for a triangle tv stand since everyone is handing in those old stands and moving up to large flat screen tvs. But that would push the bed farther out into the room and I'm not sure that will work. Do I recall correctly that there's only one corner for it to go in? (I can't recall if the closet went across all one wall or only part way.)

Aside from my concerns, if you can make it work, go for it. Making a bed against a wall is a real pain. Of course, you could just pull it 10" from the wall and make dd help you change the linens each time. She's tiny enough to fit in there.

Good morning!

Sleep well, scattered.
Thank you for starting us off, Dee. WTG with the weight loss and BS #s!
Interesting that you straighten your hair, Kathryn. Mine is already straight, though I do believe that it has gotten thicker and slightly wavier as I have gotten older, perhaps after 3 pregnancies?

I woke up early but didn't do much upon waking other than some easier sudoku puzzles. Dh left early this morning. He has a very odd travel schedule this week: out this morning, back tomorrow a.m. Leaving again Th. a.m. - I will join him Thursday afternoon in Toronto! - and then we return Saturday afternoon. Then, he leaves again Sunday afternoon and returns Tuesday afternoon/evening. He keeps his trips as short as possible.

Now, I have:
-s2sed
-tidied kitchen, dw unloaded and reloaded
-folded lol; only partially put away, though
-had bfast: a banana and tea.

I will leave soon for a haircut appt. and to run errands:
1. 10 - haircut appt.
2. pet store: g. pigs need more hay since their last batch started producing moths.
3. groc. store - I have a pretty long list this time

That will be my morning!

Later todos for today:
-work on Hebrew
-towels and bedding washed - not sure if it is to be ours or the girls.
-yard work -- it looks like a gorgeous fall day here!
-dd14 to oboe lesson
-dinner: egg and sausage casserole for the girls; I'll have a lean cuisine.

Band meeting re: trip to France is this evening. Dd14 is now saying she doesn't want to go on the trip, which is OK.

Have a great morning everyone!

great theme

met with friends. lunch.
looked around some shops.
library for fresh lot of books
bin day
walked dog
dinner
walked 10074 steps today - just need get ready for bed now.

Ivy - volunteer work is with support group office.
dog was a groomer yesterday - at vets. Annual check up and jabs are next month.
Seems like some upset with clippers has left my lhasa with naked ears. Or may have been too unruly. So odd. I must not give him a complex about this. Probably not as bad as the bad haircuts I have given him.

goodnight all
Just begin.

Good Morning!

Thinking of Sadie this morning. Hoping her family owies are doing better. Inspired by her to start the habit of combining walking & listen to Bible.

RE: Diagonal Bed - I tend to move our bedroom furniture around every 3 months (during bedroom focus). About 1/2 of the year the beds are diagonal and the other time they are in the middle of the walls. When they are diagonal, I put a square table surface that is same height as the bed in the triangle shape between the head of the bed and corner. We don't use headboards or foot boards on our beds, so that extra space at the head of the bed makes it seem as if the bed area is extended. Our bedrooms seem to be bigger than typically found in newer homes, so the diagonal bed arraignment might not work for newer homes/smaller rooms.

Yes to Progress!! This morning LO entered school building ALL BY HIMSELF! He gave me kiss/hugs in front of the school and walked in with a classmate. I noticed as he walked toward the door he carried himself with a swagger of confidence.

Yesterday I beat my best Monday CCC ever! I finished the day with 121 cards completed (I was still working them after 11:00pm!). I've already met my minimum goal (32) for today and now am working toward beating my personal Tuesday best of 123 CCC.

40 = CCC

On Friday I had errands and must have done too much, because I relapsed on the cold recovery front. Saturday dgs6 flag football game was cancelled due to much needed rain. Sunday afternoon was sunny and in the low 40's. I watched the 3 youngest dgks, so that dd2 could watch dgs8s game. Last night was dgd16 last JV home football game to be cheering at. I hated to miss it, but knew that sitting out in cool temps with the wind blowing would not speed my recovery.

Yesterday I went for my flu shot. Dhs work was giving them at their in town offices, so I went there. I could sure feel it going in. Then last night when I tried to sleep on my left side, I felt a slight discomfort. There was a young guy who was waiting in line behind me and he was so nervous about the shot. Seeing as how I give myself 4 injections a day, plus check my bs at least 6 times a day, a shot is no big deal. Dh had on a long sleeve shirt, so he used that as an excuse not to take his shot. Also, he said that he had one last year and was sick all winter, so he didn't want one. Grrr....., he pulled the same thing about 8 or 9 years ago.

I am so far behind on laundry. I started by washing towels and jeans yesterday. Today I will do clothes. I need to run to the grocery store but will probably do that this afternoon. I am also trying to progress on cleaning. Yesterday I was determined to clean 1 bathroom and mop the dining area and kitchen. Managed that, so today I need to do more. Need to get a handle on routine cleaning, so that I start on deep cleaning.

Yesterday dd2 was so discouraged about her business that I went down and kept her company while she loaded the kiln. A lady came in and dd2 said nothing to indicate that business was slow. The lady really liked the shop and told her to not get discouraged. That once the word was out in every form of advertising, that business would really take off. She also thought the gelato prices were on the money, considering that gelato is more expensive than ice cream. It was like she was an answer to a prayer with her encouraging advice and attitude. After she left dd2 felt better. I told her that I didn't pay that woman to come in and say those things. Then she received a phone call from a girl at the college wanting a tour and to offer her an advertising deal with the college newspaper. She just needs to be patient and believe me patience is not one of her strong suits. I think she is really questioning her decision to do this. I had played devils advocate till I was blue in the face when she first started talking about this in early March. There came a point that I realized she was going to do it one way or another, so I then chose to be supportive. This was one time that I wish her dh would not have been supportive. Without him being on board, she would not have done it. What's done is done and she has to deal with it. Saturday evening she called and said she was thinking of her exit strategy. :o I didn't say much to that. Then yesterday while I was there she commented that she was too far in and has to give it everything she has got, before she throws in the towel. I would hope so.

Guess I better get busy................

Helia: I spent years curling my hair but now I straighten it! Once I stopped colouring it, my hair took on more wave and the greys' curliness came through. At first they were like springs but as I got more, they have more wave than my non-grey hair and the two don't really mix well. So I use the straightener to encourage the two textures to blend together better.

My meeting hasn't started yet. Had I known I had more time, I might have made muffins.

Good morning, dear friends.

Progress is a wonderful goal for the day. I found some yesterday and will go looking for more today!

My grouped-chore cards are handled much as Ivy's but my TaDas are seldom recorded unless I do it here, and my To-Dos always make their way onto cards or within 5x5s.

Great job on steps, Lynlee! Awww.... .... your dear puppy may feel cold-headed now.

Hair - I noted that hormones changed dd32's hair from straight-fine to wavy-thick during puberty. So I can see how pregnancies affect it too.

Child's bed - I think Ivy's mention of space is going to be the issue - 14x12 room. And Kathryn, unless we move the desk from the light of the window over her shoulder (which I would rather not do), yes, there is only one corner available. I'm thinking she might not get much "room" from it. But, as much clever fun as the divided room has been as far as cozy cubbies that feel "separate" for deskwork and sleeping, it takes much less clutter to visually "disturb" the room than it would in a more normal room configuration. I was thinking we could hold off the excess normal ( :) ) by placing the bed diagonally a while. We might try it (and we might quickly find out it won't work.). Thanks for the report of positive experiences, OKay. Yes, a triangular (or any) table could serve as a behind-the-head nightstand. Also I've seen those artificial ficus trees used, but we are probably not that adventurous!

We were wrong that my ddad would want the larger bedroom here - he sleeps and dresses there and that's it. I don't think he has ever sat in the rocking chair HRH brought in there, or kept the tv on more than a few minutes. He doesn't like the large closet and chooses to sort his clothes into folded stacks because he wants to see them all and doesn't like working with hangars. But switching now would be awfully difficult for several reasons, not the least of which being he couldn't remember we'd done it.

HRH will be coming in about 1:30 or 2:00 today and plans to bring us a late lunch to share. Looking forward to that.
