SIMPLE SATURDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

I'll start, though I know Kathryn may be also. If we both do I have no problem scratching mine.

I was in the recliner most of the night. Every little while I'd get up and heat my micro bag and put it on the upper part of my chest. Think it helped some. Not sure I'm going to the Memorial Service for Virginia this afternoon. Though I'm figuring I'll feel better as the day moves on, I know I need to take it easy and 'socializing' might not be on that calendar. Know Virginia will forgive me and I don't want to expose others to this -whatever it is! I'll get my potatoes cooking in a little bit for the German potato salad -for dinner after the service. Also need to get dh's better clothes out.

Not planning to do much today. Think I'll 'focus' on getting the table and the surrounding 'debris' cleaned out/up. That will probably be enough for the day. Already made the bed.

Probably the other item today will be to clean off the kitchen counter(s). That's one nice thing about this park model -we have quite a lot of counter space. Most RV's do not. Think I'll go veg again for a little while and sip my cup of coffee while it's still hot. Hot things feel very good to me right now. At least it was easier taking my meds today -yesterday I could barely swallow & it hurt a lot to do even that.

I've made the bed, tested (101), taken meds & sipped my cup of caffeine. Have the heat 'cranked' in here. Decided it's not worth my being cold, if I only have to turn that into medical expenses. (Not that I'm usually too cold -dh makes sure of that). It was 29 this morning and 61 in here with the fireplace (electric) going. turned the heat to 69 & at 71 it still felt chilly to me, so turned it to 73. :|

Don't feel like 'getting going' yet, but don't feel like going back to lie down either. Dreamed about a very dear old friend last night. They moved away from here to NC, near the ocean, about 15 years ago. I was so happy to see her, I jumped out of my seat and ran over to her. But, unfortunately we didn't get much chance to chat. Wonder today about calling/writing her.

DH left the water dripping last night, hoping the line wouldn't freeze. Unfortunately with lots of RVers not here for the weekend, I'm sure their water was still on and froze at the outside source. This will usually break the "Y" at the faucet, because most of them are vinyl. It was well below freezing for several hours. At least all the golden rod should be killed now. No more gardens around here!

Off to l&&t my PODA and start just chipping away at it.

Good Morning!

Vegetable garden after freeze is possible. I learned from reading 4 season gardening book and have been experimenting with their methods. It works! This is my first year growing Brussels Sprouts and I was surprised to learn the recommended time to harvest is AFTER the first freeze. I watched a youtube video of them doing commercial harvest in the snow. They would shake the snow off the plant before harvesting. Many other plants survive & grow in cold weather with very little help. I find this fascinating. :)

Today is a relax day for us. No extra activities scheduled. Just normal doings. There is a college football game on around noon time with our state university and one of its biggest rivalry. We had the opportunity to attend the game, but both DSon and DH turned the tickets down. They both said they didn't want to spend the energy/time it would take to fight the crowds. ANYway, this is a perfect time to pamper DH a bit with tailgating type food at home. I'm not much on sitting and watching games, but I might watch it with DH while doing some paperwork.

Good morning, Dee. Was your throat sore?

With menfolk away, Kathryn will probably check in more often.

Amused at Harmony's electronics-loving granddaughter. Anyone would be impressed with lights and sounds but I'm sure grandparents are vastly more entertaining!

Electronics working well at Elizabeth's house too, I see.

Sunny got to watch (on tv) Elizabeth's neighboring balloon fest.

Safe travels to lucylee.

Today is funeral visitation, then home to allow dd to leave with her friend's mother, then back to graveside service. I'll need to get there early and choose my parking space very carefully to be able to exit when needed.

I'm finishing up a dryer load from last evening. My ddad's breakfast is on the table for him. Deciding what I'll do with my hair. I may wet the ends and use the product OKay and I like, to "scrunch" in some curls. Dd needs to hop in that shower! Where is that child?

A quick post and run. . . .Dh and I have enjoyed our brief stay in Toronto! I've been thinking of you a LOT, Kathryn. I'm thinking you live sort of near here? Maybe we should have tried to get together -- but I know you're still not 100% and I think dh doesn't realize I'm posting here. Sort of. . . .I know I am not the most regular poster.

Anyhow, we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, saw only a tiny fraction of what there is to see. We ate at a marvelous restaurant last night, Sotto Sotto. This is a very nice hotel, great location w/ the nicest spa dh says he has ever seen in a hotel. Park Hyatt near Yorkville neighborhood. We were able to work out last night. Now, we are off to get bfast and then pack up and catch a taxi to the airport. We should be home around 3 pm. Dh and I will then need to gather/buy props for our skit and practice. This is a silly skit w/ a deeper message for the 5th/6th SS class tomorrow. I also need to make lots of progress on Hebrew; I'm hoping to do some on the plane. It is a very short flight, though. I have figured out a direction/focus for my teaching on Thursday which is helpful.

I hope you all have a wonderful simple Saturday!

I'm afraid it's more of a busy Saturday here. I need to do some clean up at home, get groceries and pick up ddog's thyroid meds, make a salad to take tonight and a kugel for dd to take back to school tomorrow. We are going to dfriends for dinner tonight - the friends that were in town on Tuesday night are still here (or coming back through here on their way to FL?) so other friends have asked us over for dinner with them. Should be a nice dinner.

I've been up about an hour - 56 degrees here but very foggy right now. I turned the gas logs on while I read the paper and drank coffee and I hate the gassy smell. I'm hoping that once they're "broken in" it's less noticeable. Newest dneighbors are laying their backyard sod today so ddogs are wound up and I'm hearing neighbors outside constantly.

First round:
-change clothes, brush teeth, clean up
-walk the ddogs, who are no longer concealing their impatience
-clear kitchen counters
-start dishwasher
-try to connect to work email

Tomorrow I will need to head to work in the a.m. to clear review pts and finish our own tax return. Some ill feelings at work - most of the returns that folks still are working on are from one partner, who appears to procrastinate or perhaps not delegate well. Same situation for the Sept 15 returns, when he had to work long hours and all weekend before the Monday deadline. IMHO he doesn't push clients enough to get work in earlier and then the staff suffers along with him.

Excitement here - yard guys are in our backyard today running the sprinkler system, in anticipation of sodding next week. They also just cut the ddog invisible fence line so the alarm in the garage is going.

Got into online office email with no problems, and updated my bookmark. Also ate breakfast and did meds/vitamins for me and ddogs. Next round:

-clear kitchen table
-straighten great room
-clear "hot" breakfast counter
-start a lol
-make the bed

A quiet morning in the village. The fog is finally lifting here. Dh went out to Torah study, don't know when he will be back, ddogs asleep and dd still asleep. We had a nice dinner out last night with dd. She sure is easier to love when she doesn't live here all the time. :D

I am going to head out to vets' then to grocery. I don't think I mentioned that I went to W almart last time I needed groceries, and it nearly drove me crazy after going to a smaller, mostly grocery store. Too many people, too big.

Throat was very sore yesterday, Harriet. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to attempt the memorial service. Just coughing & sniffling too much. Throat isn't so bad today but still have some congestion -if I can get over this fairly quickly I'll feel pretty good about that. Trying to take care of myself enough that I don't get really down & out sick. Don't have time.

DH has come in soaked twice now. People whose water lines froze and spouted! Hope he comes in soon to take his shower/shave, etc. Hoping to talk him into showering in the RV, but probably not. I noticed it was up to about 39 a while ago. Stayed right around 29 this morning. Have potatoes cooking for meal after the service. I'll just have dh take them up. Hmmm...microwave just 'dinged'. They've been cooking 90 minutes on level 1. .....put them back in for another hour.

I've been resting most of the morning and just doing a little puttering in between.
She sure is easier to love when she doesn't live here all the time.
That's a very true statement, Twins. :D
