Monday Mayhem

Post by scattered »

Wow! I can't believe nobody has started the thread yet this morning, Ya'll must be busy bees already.

I was up until 3:30 am and then woke up at 8:30 when the Healing Oil Company came to make our delivery.

Somehow my DS13's window was broken last night... He swears he doesn't know how it happened. Will have to deal with that later. Also noticed that his room is at absolute DISASTER! I let him stay home today since he was up until 1:00 am because of the Ddog who was going nuts about the window, he will be cleaning his room. I have taken away his laptop until it is clean.

See ya'll in a few hours.

Mayhem? Oh no! But that might be applicable for today -here at least. Know we have to fit in an 'emergency' dentist visit for dh and car has a 'rumble' that has to be looked at. Our patio door started making strange rumbling noises last night -hope is that it's something in the trac and NOT a roller. AND I have to run up to the laundry room and see if there's any 'vacancy'. This is the last day, so chances are -it's BUSY! Although the numbers of residents here is declining pretty quickly.

I'm better -not great, but definitely better. Started the night in bed and progressed to the recliner. Woke up a couple of times coughing a lot. But even that seems a little better this morning.

Kathryn, where did I miss that you're going on a cruise -or didn't I? Knew you had cancelled one?

Had dh lift the bed for me last night and put some things away under there -while looking for that elusive jewelry.

Ate breakfast really early (for me) -6am. BS was at 69 and I was feeling it. Wish I knew why it was so high(ish) for a spell.

BBL when the laundry is done. Off to strip our bed.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Monday Mayhem here as well - I lost some sleep when a storm rolled through in the middle of the night and I was awake with dMacs. We have a vet appt at 4:30 today, I am going to ask about other meds for him, also.

I'm always tired on Mondays because of the early wake up - 5:30 a.m. I usually need to get rolling to finish straightening up for the dcleaning lady - this morning I found her message from 6:30 last night that she was coming on Tuesday instead. I had already emptied dishwasher and cleared counters and straightened up.

I still have a tax return that hasn't even been reviewed yet. Our personal return is being efiled this morning.

Good morning, scattered! You beat me to the punch, but you were kinder than I -- rather than figure everybody was busy already, I thought maybe folks were uncharacteristically drowsy this morning! ;)

Good luck to you -- sounds like you're already having a day of it!

I had the morning run today and will have the afternoon run as well -- the dad who usually drives the mornings is on his way back from a charity bike event in his native Maine. Drat! Good thing I have the afternoon run -- the envelope I specifically asked DD if she could be trusted to take (due today for tickets to an event this coming weekend) is still sitting at her place at table!

The other family we carpool with is one we've known since our kids were in preschool together -- they have two boys the same ages as my girls, and they have a younger daughter in 2d grade. So with 5 kids between us, we're the only ones in this carpool. (We could add somebody with one, but who's going to have a minivan with only one kid?) The dad does a lot of the traditional mom stuff, as he is a consultant and largely on his own schedule, while his wife works for an engineering firm. He had other carpoolers last year -- whether he lost them b/c he was known for cutting it close in the mornings or because of his generally gruff demeanor, I don't know. His natural gruffness is amplified by the remaining traces of Maine accent which clip his speech a bit, making him sound impatient to Northern Ohio ears. At any rate, I've known him long enough to know that he is a mensch despite his rough exterior, and as far as I know, he's been running on time this year, though his middle child is driving me a bit nuts with his incessant need to talk cars!

Good morning to Dee, Twins and all who follow! Timer has gone off -- must get to work! I redid my cards a bit this weekend and now have 27 where I had had 24.

Current count: 5/27
Next up:
• lights/blinds
• clean up breakfast
• crockpot?
• tidy bathroom
• make bed
• start wash

That should take me to, if not past, next TOTH! See you then!

Thanks for being brave and starting us out, scattered. I had just decided to come back and start a thread when lo and behold. . . . there you were! So sorry about the broken window. That sounds potentially scary. . . .

Hope the dentist appt. goes well for dh, Dee and that the car and door problems are simple and easy to fix.

Wow, Twins and others -- some of you get up very early!

Sounds like you're off to a good start, Mystery.

I got up with the girls. Dd14 was not happy b/c she had to ride her bike to school. I have checked online bills, paid one which I had to do via a phone call b/c the cc company was bought out? or something by another bank and is switching websites, which I didn't know -- b/c I didn't read the letter they sent in July b/c I probably thought the letter was junk mail and threw it out w/ out reading it first. I have also called the dentist to let them know that dd17 can't make her appt. today since she has an exam in an AP class right during the appt. She didn't tell me about this until Saturday -- but then, we were out of town Th - Sat. I have also s2s-ed and had some bfast - tea and a banana. I have also started unloading the dw.

I need to leave in 45 minutes to pick up dd14 and then ds for the dentist appt. It feels kind of weird to be bringing ds, but it just happens to work out. . . . .
Before then:
-devo time
-teeth care
-unload and reload dw
-make MBR bed

I'm debating going to Hebrew class tonight or not; dh thinks I shouldn't and should concentrate on my teaching for Thursday instead since I need to do a lot of background reading for it. I'm basing it on a passage in Nehemiah, and some of my points are based on the historical-political state of Jerusalem at the time, and I need to make sure I have that correct. Anyhow, I may go to Hebrew class without having gotten far enough in the translation. I can read, and the teacher will likely let me go first if I request that, so i can contribute a little to the translation work. . . . It really goes against my grain to show up in class not completely prepared, though. . .

Anyhow, off I go. . . .

PC time is taking a back seat to IRL happenings. I'm trying to make the most of each time slot opportunity

DDad had a very serious "melt down" last night. He can't be loaded into car to go with us. He can't be left alone at home. DSis & DBro are not available to help today, so I've recruited DH to sit with DDad while I take DMom for her stress test and a stop by the pharmacy.

I have a 2 page PODA (not a li$t) to get the MH cleaned out and stuff put away in the house.

House was a bit dusty but didn't even smell stale. I need to get moving with a walk first and then S2S and get moving on the MH.

First in will be the printer so I can print off the PODA so DH can see what to do.

Good to be home - ice cream last night was packed - had to add more tables. Lots of people coming home early. The whole US was hot so we might as well be back in the desert.

The only mayhem here is outside - it is unseasonably warm (60) but high winds so the house shudders from time to time and each time I look out the window I see leaves blowing by in mid-air.

I'm doing a load of laundry and given the last experience with the washer, I have a timer on and am checking it every 5 - 10 minutes. I'm also using a different cycle in the hopes that if the mechanism that advances the process is broken, it is only broken on the cycle I use all the time. There's faulty logic or hopeful logic, you decide!

I did 2 miles on the treadmill and my floor exercises. S2s (including washing my hair) and got the bed stripped and remade. Also put away the laundry from the drying rack so the upstairs is ready to vacuum.

I still haven't had my cereal but did have my tea and chocolate plus 2 tea biscuits. I'm liking them more and more, the more I have. And I'm only eating them with butter, no jam so that's not why. Or maybe it is....

I smiled when I saw "Mayhem". Yes it was the busy bee answer for me. I got in 45 mins Zumba this am while I had the chance after my ddad went back to bed at 7.

((OKay and Mr. OKay)) what would caregivers do without our spouses? When my dear aunt's visitation and funeral were both scheduled on Sat afternoon and someone needed to stay with my ddad, HRH said, "That's all right. I don't need a Saturday." Hope your trip with your dmother goes well.

Welcome back, lucylee.

Elizabeth, you got so much done last evening.

Best card count wishes, Mystery!

Best finding-whats-lost wishes, Dee.

Glad you are home safe, Emptynester.

cats, hello!

I have so many errands! (yuck) My ddad is out of cookies (a big shock to him) because I opened the Chewy Chips Ahoy and there was a coating of white over them. I set out a banana for him, but he is displeased. Unacceptable.

I got a second load of laundry in this morning. So the red "egg" in the laundry basket nest is done. Only 4 more to go.

Well, didn't get as much done as I'd hoped....
MysteryWoman wrote:Next up:

• clean up breakfast (Done)
• crockpot? (Done as far as I can -- waiting for meat to defrost in microwave)
• tidy bathroom (Done)
• make bed (Done)
• start wash (Not even started)

Crockpot prep took longer than expected, not because of the meat defrosting, but because the crock itself was still in the fridge with about half a serving of soup in it. Would like to blame DH, but it's really my fault -- it's been there through at least one garbage day. Between that and the bathroom taking longer than usual -- needed to swap out towels -- I didn't even get to the wash.

Good luck with the laundry and all the unexpecteds, Dee!

 Oh, well, at least you're ahead of the game, Twins! Quarterly tax return?

helia, I think I might agree with your DH -- it sounds like you might have the choice between either going to one class (the one you teach) prepared and the other (the one you take) not at all, or going to both not fully prepared. Will you be so far behind if you skip the Hebrew class? You're so diligent!

(((OKay)))

Sounds like you're settling well into your winter digs, MT.

Good luck with the washer, Kathryn! Sounds like you're getting our winds from yesterday -- still windy today, but not nearly so much. I saw a treadmill desk online the other day and thought of you.

Red egg in the laundry basket, Harriet?

Well, it's past QATH -- I'd better get moving again. Microwave has beeped, so I'll get the crock going, then on to laundry. If there's any more time between then and TOTH, I'll start excavating the dining table. Still at 5/27. (Though thanks for the wishes, Harriet!)
