It is barely after midnight, but since I am still up and it is officially Sunday in my time zone, I want to wish a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to OKAY!

Editing this to add that my time is wrong but it is so close to Daylight Saving Time changing that I won't mess with changing my time.

Harmony, my hat is off to you. Those kids wore me out and I CAN NOT imagine watching 1 of them for the amount of time that you will have had your dgd. They are high maintenance kids. None of the 4 little ones will listen to you. They just ignore you and keep asking for/ doing whatever. Dd1 and I get on to them but when they don't get a consistent regime of it, it doesn't make much impact. Dgs8 and I had a go around. He didn't think he needed to mind me. I was giving him a piece of my mind about how they won't listen and told him that his mother listened to me and I would not have put with what she does. He told me they were good at their dads. I told him that it wasn't fair to their mother that they can behave for their dad and were brats for her. He told me that that was offensive. I told him that his behavior is offensive. He then told me I was acting like grandma C, which is my dm. The boys just cringe when they hear she is coming to visit. I just left it at that after that comment. Once the boys started spending half their time with their dad, then dd2 felt bad that they weren't with her and when they were, she let them get by with more than she would have otherwise. So when the 2 girls came along that was status quo and they all do it.

Guess I better get to bed.

That is difficut for you as a grandparent. I know I was helped a lot in my young single parent days by attending a parenting course. I hope the children can get over their whatever and learn to respect others. Hoping theres a tactic dd can learn to use that helps. Divorce dynamics can be oddly worked out by children.

Harmony (((((big hugs)))))) to you for taking on this long stint at grandma duty. I'm sorry it had to come at a time when you were unwell - as someone wrote - hard enough when to care for a 2yo full time when you are well.

Lucylee - Maybe just to mention to ds & ddil that having someone else as extra backup for babysitting would let them start to think of alternatives.

Today was special here. A sunny beach day with dd1 , dsil, dgs13 and dgd10. Another day with lots of time to talk to dd. We braved the waves for a bit with dgd. Water was lovely. Got some Christmas gift ideas.
Sunday afternoon - visited with friend - a regular time slot.
home to walk dog 3k.
Dinner was cold beef, veg and black rice casserole cooked last week. Rather yummy cold to my slightly odd taste buds.

A very special day indeed! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OKAY! How are you doing with your birthday present of "cement blocks"?

Feeling pretty good so far this morning. Want to make it to church this morning as I know we probably won't next week. DGS13 has a hockey game at 11:20 and it's our only chance to go see him before we leave that week. Always hated it when our boys were young and games were slated for the same time as church! But it is, what it is.

Going to take dh's fire gear out of the car later today (if it's nice) and start packing a few things that I have ready. That will motivate me to get some more partially filled things, done and outta here.

Promised dh I'd make him some hash and eggs if he meandered back down here around 8-9. I have to leave shortly after 10. Want to stop with a bunch of stuff for ddil#2. We're all getting together tonight for tacos (postponed from last Sunday).

I was trying to buy a new package of underwear to put in our travel bag -think I could find any (the kind that I buy anyway) in my size? None, notta, nothing! Have to stop at W mart again today for dryer sheets & coffee so thought I'd look again (but it's the same store). I'd go to a different one, but that's within 5 miles of church and it would make the other one about 30 miles from there. Oh well, if I don't find them, I can get some on the way (she says hopefully).

DH has several things he has to do today so won't be accompanying me to church.

Dfriend who likes to cook brought dh Italian Wedding soup yesterday (THat's one soup I don't really care for, for some reason). Think I'll put it in a container of my own, so I can wash that one and get it back to them today. I'm sure they'll be closing real soon. Most everyone we know is leaving either tomorrow or Tuesday. It's gotten dark & quiet as it is -it will be way more so by mid-week. Then we have about a week before we leave, hopefully.

I'm almost 'afraid' to go to FL as I know things there will be entirely different than last year. For one, DSonIL will be home and I have no idea what stage gd14's at. Don't ask really.

On to the day's PODA and get myself ready for church -that's another 3 hours, but it has a way of just plain evaporating!

Haven't cuop yet from yesterday and am heading off to breakfast now so won't post about yesterday either. My down time today is in the car but I will have to try to nap when I would normally be composing.

I'm fine, just really busy and still having to carve 2 hours into each day for a nap. Today I will miss that nap so am a bit worried about how the day will go. Hope to energy from the people and the scenery to carry me through (plus my pillow will be in the back seat with me.)

The library quilt show / book & fabric sale went really well yesterday. I worked the event all day, then came home and cooked a quick & easy supper. After doing some chores that could not wait any longer, I tried to read Emails. I was so exhausted, though, that I couldn't remember anything I read, so I just went up to bed at 10. That's the earliest I've gone to sleep in a long time.

Of course, I woke up at 4. Actually, almost 6 hours of sleep is a really good night.

Knowing that everyone was anxious to hear numbers, I didn't even try to go back to sleep. I got up to count money and start the bookkeeping for the event. I would have preferred to have another person count the money with me yesterday, but they all refused, and some even left before the sale was over so they wouldn't have to help put away and clean up.

The man who donated all of the fabric and books from his wife's estate said there is a lot more to donate. Sounds like we will be scheduling another sale in January or February. After that, though, I want to stop. It only made sense for the library to have a quilt show & fabric/book sale when half of the merchandise was books and it all came from library board members.

Several people who came to buy fabric yesterday said they had some they would be willing to donate. Knowing what unusable supplies people donate to my sewing group, I foresee a possible nightmare situation at the library that must be prevented. It does not make sense to me to do a fabric sale without the books, and it's waaaaay too much volunteer time involved for 2 of us to do, which is how this one ended up.

At least with the annual book sale, other library volunteers are willing to help do the work to set it up!


Alrighty then, I think I've done enough work this morning that I can go back to bed for awhile. We are going to meet some of my family for supper tonight and I don't want to fall asleep on the long drive there.

This afternoon is dgs6s last football game. Dd2 was hoping for a short break of taking kids to practice. xsil is thrilled that dgs8 can play in both rec and YMCA basketball leagues this year and the practice for whichever league starts first is starting this week.

It is suppose to be 80's for most of the next week. Glad that I haven't switched out clothes yet.

Dd2 and I are thinking that we will take a trip to the next town tomorrow, since she will be closed. There are some things that she needs from H obby L obby. I need to go to their H allmark store and pick up my ornaments.

Speaking of ornaments, M iles K imball catalog has an angel ornament that can be engraved with a babies name, date and time of birth and weight. I always buy them for my grandkids and all of our nieces and nephews babies. I order 2, one for the parents and one for the grandparents. Last year I waited for a baby that was due in late Oct. to order one for dgd18mos. They were out of stock, so this year I had those 2 plus another 1 to order. They also had a Santa and Mrs. Santa ornament holding packages that they put names on. I ordered one for us with the 7 grandkids names. I also ordered 1 for dd1 with their names and the 2 kids names and one for dd2 with their names and the 5 kids names. They are even nicer than I expected, which always a pleasant surprise.

Yesterday I painted both dgds toenails and fingernails. I told them they had to sit still until they dried and wonder of wonders, they did. They were so excited to show mom and dad.

Better get some breakfast.

I don't know how all of you get so much done all the time. Yesterday I was so busy that I didn't even get time to turn on the computer.

Today I have to track down a white half slip in my size. I've been to 4 different W marts and the largest any of them have is large. I need a 2x. I've been to Sears, The Bay and the last remaining Zellers in our area. No, no and no.

Today we are going to check Winners. We have to drive to Downsview to pick up dd's car and drive it back to here. It's $100. a month for her to park at her place.

Other than that, not much.
