Sunny or Snowy Sunday

We have glorious sun here but I'm hearing the other S word in forecasts more often these days so it is only a matter of time.

I happen to love snow as it puts me in the mood to plan for Christmas. What do you do to get in the mood to start preparations?

My senior friend is terrified of driving in bad weather so when dh first heard the talk of snow for today he acted and got the snow tires for our car. Not that it would have worked, she trusts us but would not have come and in a way I don't blame her because the highway between here and my friend's church has a well deserved reputation for being a killer road.

On the other hand, any time I've driven up to that church (2 hours away), I've had great weather and I've been 3x in winter. I always get sun and some of the scenery is breathtaking so I love the drive as much as the service. I was confident the sun would come out today and it has (yesterday we had several squalls but snow didn't stay.)

I'm up and on the treadmill. I heard ds through the night but he didn't come for me. It was funny because snow is so on my mind, I thought the noises were snow shedding from our roof!

We better get snow soon because I'm having a hard time getting in the mood for Christmas. Right now it just seems like way too much work for me to handle.

My week coming up is no picnic, either. I'm out for most of every day until Thursday.

Looks like sunny for me today, Kathryn. Yes, yay! I'm back on. Think a new modem/router (whatever it is) makes the difference.

Went to eldest dbil's for his birthday yesterday. Two dnieces from CA had flown in for the occasion. Was good to see them again. One I had seen a few times in the past 7-10 years, the other -it's been 44 years! Wow! DH has seen all of them in his travels while he still worked at Kodak.

DH & DSIL went to the flea market for just a little while this morning. Expect they'll be back at any moment.

Noticed that dd posted on FB last night -wondering if anyone knew of stores still hiring holiday help. Can't imagine her taking on yet another job. If I thought that it would help them for us to go somewhere else, I'd be looking. However, I know it would just compound things for her with gd14. So, we'll continue to help as much as we can and transport gd and be with her when dd is out. So afraid dd is almost to the breaking point. Especially since health care (or lack thereof) reared its ugly head this weekend. Seems dsil has been without any health insurance since Nov. 4th and their only option at this point is COBRA at almost $600/month. This when he's got no income. She researched putting him on hers through the school board -but it carries a 'no existing conditions' clause. Something will turn up I'm sure -at least keep praying.

Need to get ready for church -I'm halfway there. BBL

Putting the games back into boxes and searching for pieces under furniture, I discovered the focus cleaning I hadn't been doing...

BTDT Harmony, and suddenly thousands of OKay's BBs came to mind as well. The occasional spill does show us our corners and underneaths, doesn't it?

little britches and I had a "you are not the center of the universe moment" last night, too. He wanted a cookie. That is fine. Grandma had a baggie of cookies saved from his PawPaw's (my ddad's) stash just for the boys. But no, he wanted the whole baggie full, and now. Now! ... ... Grandma laid the cookie on the wooden stool where he could reach it, put the baggie up high and walked away, turning out the kitchen light. Wwwwaaaaiiiiilllll Amazing. She did not return. What a concept. He scurried out of the kitchen eating the cookie.

scattered, how did your towels turn out? Do you see a difference?

Kathryn, hearing the car is inclement-weather-readied is still valuable for your friend, though, because it reassures and eases thoughts. If urgent need arises, people are ready with safe vehicles, especially people she could call. So Ken's work was worthwhile.

I went to Children's Book Guide with Harmony's thought, and sitting there, trying to think what to type into "Search", I decided to type "Center of the Universe" and see what happened. Here's what came up! Not bad!

we had a great weekend and thanksgiving and so relaxing but also fruitful in present shopping.

yesterday we went to see the lights at a now museum - so nice dd's and I played Christmas music while enjoying all the lights

checked at some sleigh ride events (if we get snow)

today: hoping dd's and I can get tree before dd oldest goes to college again and keep it in the yard until 2 weeks from now

Have to say again that the mushroom risotto that dd and I made last night was wonderful. I still need to take care of kitchen clean up - we went right into watching the movie without completing clean up. I'm not sure what else is on the agenda for today - I need to write something for the temple bulletin, we were considering a hike with a Jewish group today but it will be pretty cool for that.

Dmacs is having a conniption about something, so I can't sit here any longer....
-meds for me and them
-load up dishwasher and start it
-kitchen clean up from last night
-change clothes
-walk the ddog

.....not necessarily in this order, but I'd like to put off the walk a bit and let it warm up outside.

I thought of Indiana yesterday when I was trying to trouble shoot the problem with the breadmaker challah....she would probably have suggested the yeast was bad right away.

Harriet - Just put the towels in Ernie I will let you know in an hour. Been thinking of how to cycle my towels through so they all get recharged without me having to rewash all of them, I just can't bring myself to waste the water and energy. Yes, to answer your next question I have a ton of towels. I think I will put the re-charged towels in the Linen closet since we pull from the shelves in the bathroom.

It's a sunny but cold Sunday here - 35* is very cold here in Virginia especially for November.

I am up 8 hours after I went to sleep although I had to set the alarm, DS13 is up because the DDog heard me and woke him up, he is now in doing the dishes.

I need to get going on the LR if we want to put Christmas up.

Need to pull the fat off the stock and get it frozen. Hopefully by that time DS13 will be done unloading/reloading Agnes, gonna need his help in the LR.

Well, DS13 and I got the kitchen tidied up. The turkey stock does not have the thick hard fat layer on it but the metal mesh steamer insert that I use to strain things with cheese cloth is in Agnes who is running so I will wait till later today to try straining. We strained it twice last night so there isn't much left on top any way.

Checked the towels but the website I got the re-charge instructions says to make sure they are completely dry so I turned Ernie back on for another 20 minutes. Did get the last lol from last night folded. After this break I'm going to go up and sweep upstairs.

I'm doing pretty well today. Got the blog done before breakfast, S2Boots and dressed for church. Love a place where I can wear jeans and boots to church. We are greeters today so I put a bit more time in on makeup and hair. Usually I just do wash and wear hair but I put some product in it this am.

I still have to put the roasted turkey necks in the crock pot with some water. When we come home I will put the veggies in and then the noodles (already cooked) in when it is time to eat.

Just wanted to say hi to all. Catch ya on the flip side.

Oh! Hoping to put the tree up this afternoon. Also lights outside after the sun goes to the west of the house. Sorry, but it is in the mid 80's again today. Tuff to live in the desert!
