lifting up our best selves Sunday

Gifting ourselves with our best selves today. - (it's not about perfection, which is unattainable, its about being kind to others and yourself) peace to you in your day and may it be joyous

I started out my morning by watching Doves video from yesterday... what a lovely start of the day.

Good morning, Blessed! (and all who come through our village today).

I got up for a potty break shortly after 6 when dh got up. Went back to bed, but after a long succession of sneezes I was up. :x Have had meds and coffee. Now time to start thinking of getting ready for church.

Our Christmas party at church was a very nice respite yesterday. Ended up having to take gd with us. She spent the night with a friend and the Mom preferred that dd pick her up before the party as the girls were getting along great to that point and she wanted it to remain that way. Sad when best friends can really 'get into it' and don't speak for weeks. But they both suffer from similar disorders.

DD talked to DS-R for a while late yesterday. To this point they have not said anything to DGS8 about CT so he knows nothing -YET. I'm sure he will hear it from some source before much more time passes. On a good note: DDIL saw her oncologist this week, after her 'scan' and is doing very well. (For those who don't know, she was diagnosed with stage 3, aggressive breast cancer 3 years ago now. She had a double mastectomy and several lymph nodes removed -1/2 of which were cancerous). Know it's always a breath-holding time when she comes up to these regular exams. (For all of us!)

Going to be sunny today I think and it's time to get out clothing for the 2 of us for church. I'm off for now..............

DD is singing "One Small Child" as a solo in church this morning. Praying that it goes well for her, especially this week.

Thank you so much for this opening, Blessed.

This morning, I'm feeling the pressure of the season, the headlines, and dd's break-in, and am having a cry before I start my day.

I do have to lift up my best this morning since others are turning to the church service I'm leading to comfort them.

It is nice to know that you all will be doing the same as I am. In numbers, we can find strength and with strength we can be inspirational to others and give them strength.

Dee:
let your dd know that we are all offering up our strength to her as she sings this morning. I have a friend who is a professional opera singer and on Friday she was commented on Facebook that she wasn't sure how she would make in through 4 performances of the Messiah this weekend. Her singer friends were all feeling the same way.

Good morning, villagers ~

Thanks for the lovely opening to the thread, Blessedw2.

Friday errands went well, although I ended up in a spontaneous meeting at the library. That took enough time to require deleting the stops at the hardware store and Goodwill, but no big deal. Added a stop at WM after Sam's. Both places had normal Friday afternoon craziness, but I was in such a good mood from sunshine and unexpectedly finding gas price under $3 that the crowds didn't bother me.

Yesterday we had so many leftovers in the fridge that we didn't do our normal lunch at the diner. DH was fine with it. Just after sunset we went to pick up a few things from a local store. I noticed some Christmas lights on the way, and after shopping DH took a long, winding route home so we could see some decorated houses and yard lights. That was cozy and nice, a few quiet minutes together in the car with no distractions.

I just placed an online order for DH's and DMIL's gifts. The site claims to still have 3 days to order and guarantee arrival by Christmas.

DH told me last night that he's going to use up some vacation days by taking off the whole week of the 24th. That will be fun. I'll need to do some advance planning for lunches and such.

DSis Emailed last night asking if I thought it would be ok to just order a 6 ft sub sandwich for Christmas Eve instead of doing a big complicated pot luck meal. I told her yes, I can bring tomato soup and we can make the whole thing kid-friendly.

Good morning dear Kathryn! I will be saying my prayers for you as you lift others up in comfort. It's true that all of us (everyone) gives peace and comfort. Also a good cry to start the day will release the pain. It's not a bad thing at all, now you can move forward in your day because of the release you needed to give yourself... it will give you strength.

Glad you were able to have that 'cry', Kathryn. It's cathartic!

DD received a phone call a few minutes ago from a member of our congregation. He was a pastor and went to school, surprisingly, 6 miles from our home up north. Seems our pastor is not feeling well (no surprise -he's going through cancer treatments & he and his dwife returned from a 5-day cruise on Friday, he attended the party yesterday). Two of our deacons talked him into staying home today. At any rate this fill-in called dd and asked if she would help with the sermon which will be a dialogue of a conversation between God and Mary. So she will be talking as Mary this morning as well as her solo.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, Kathryn, and the rest of you. I know she will do well.

Not sure if gd is going to church with us or not. Probably. Not very often that she's left alone with dsonil. Tuesday she goes to her pediatrician to discuss hormone pills (which equates to birth control). Her bio sister has been treated with this and there's been a world of difference in her behaviors. She suffers from many of the same maladies as gd -all from being 'drug babies'.

Better get on with readying for church. The day's going fast!

Good morning to the village. I woke up to a T-storm which dMacs was protesting. I need to go out in the rain and get the paper so I can read it.

Last night dd and I cooked - chicken marsala, butternut squash risotto and mashed potatoes, for the non risotto eaters. Very, very nice evening. She's good company now - at least for a few days.

Today we having nothing planned except a memorial service at 5 p.m. for the father of a dfriend who passed away out of town last month.
