Working Wednesday

Post by scattered »

WooHoo! - I start my new job today!

I had to get up at 6:25 to beat DS13 to the shower. ;) So I am now s2s and working on my coffee. As soon as he is down I need to make him breakfast and then iron his shirt for tonights band concert. Then I need to put on a bit of make-up, fill my cups and get out the door by 8am.

I am so excited. Unfortunately I will not be able to check in until I get home... maybe not even until I get home from the concert.

ToDo/TaDa's
:D s2s
:D coffee
Make breakfast for DS13
Iron DS13's shirt
make-up
fill coffee cups
work 8-)

YEAH Scattered!! YGG!

Keeping Lilac and DGD in thoughts and prayers today.
What is the Gin Raisin treatment?
It is a home remedy for arthritis pain. You take golden raisins and spread them out in shallow dish then pour gin over them, then you let them sit for week (or so) until the liquid evaporates. Then you eat 9 gin soaked raisins a day and supposedly the arthritis pain disappears. There are a high amount of success stories using this recipe. I'm surprised DMom wanted to try it because she NEVER EVER drinks anything with alcohol . The thought of being pain free has to be a big factor in DMom willingness to consider it. I had to smile while DSon and I were preparing the gin/raisin for DMom. DMom was in different room telling everyone that it only cost pennies a day to do this. What she didn't know was that DSon had bought her the best gin in the world (supposedly) which meant it wasn't cheap to do this experiment.

Yesterday I boxed up all the gifts that i bought for DGD1 and LO wrote her a note. Since DGD1 can't read, LO's 4 year old penmanship should make perfect sense to her. Everything was taken to post office and mailed. Whether DD will allow DGD1 to receive the gifts is unknown, but all we can do is try.

Last night I prepared LO party things for today's Christmas party at school. I already had book wrapped for gift exchange between classmate and a case of drinks for the party, but I didn't have anything for his teacher. I hadn't forgot her but couldn't make up my mind what to get her. However with limited time and options the decision because easy. I ran to Sonic and bought gift card and wrapped it.

I'll attend LO Christmas party at school (1:00pm) then bring him home afterwards. That will be the end of his schooling for the year 2012. I'm sure the teachers everywhere will heave a big sigh of relief for the break!

Scattered: Hope you have a GREAT first day at work!

I'm up. Didn't work out. I walked 8500 steps yesterday without the treadmill (a trip to IKEA will do that for a person!) and I have more shopping today so decided to hope for the best and save the treadmill time.

Spent it looking for my red 'performance' blouse (it is rather flamboyant so works well when I'm in front of people singing.) I think I only need it for Christmas day - tonight is lower key, tomorrow is really low key and Sunday is still Advent colours. Christmas Eve I have another top that I can wear. As is always the case, it was in the last place I looked - dh's closet.

I need a white outfit for the Easter and Christmas season when preaching because I'm getting tired of wearing my ivory blazer in those seasons. As a lay person, under the rules of our church, I cannot wear gowns or stoles. But I am expected to wear the liturgical colours. For an ordained minister, it is just a matter of changing their stoles. For me, it becomes an issue, especially during the 20+ weeks when the colour is green. Some day, I'm going to buy myself a knit black dress with 3/4 length sleeves (mine is sleeveless) and then I can just swap out scarves in the right colours. But first I have to earn enough to cover all I've spent on courses.

Need to keep an eye on the time because I have an appointment at the hospital with the specialist. Dh booked a conference call at the same time so I'm on my own. Hope it goes well.

I'm planning to do his shopping after. And other errands, like getting milk.

We have a Christmas Dinner tonight at the senior's non-profit housing building. I'm attending in my role as board member but we'll also lead the sing-along after dinner. And I have to say grace (so have to get cracking on writing that.)

Good morning! I will keep Lilac's dgd16 in prayer today . . . . .

OOh, first day at the new job, scattered! I hope it is a fantastic day!! Enjoy the band concert too.

I love that LO wrote dgd1 a note, OK! :) I do hope DD lets her open the packages.

You must have a large wardrobe, Kathryn! --Or maybe well chosen pieces. I cannot wear red. Or a dark purple.

I am up, have driven the girls to school, have had bfast, have fed the critters -- b/c the girls didn't do it before they left. In fact, I asked dd17, and she isn't sure when she last gave the g pigs their pellets. Grrr...... I gave them hay yesterday b/c they were starving, but they need the pellets and vitamin C tabs every day, something that doesn't seem to be getting into this child's head. It is her chore to feed them. I just went ahead and fed them everything this morning.

I drove the girls to school so ds can use the "kid car" to go to the bd party of a friend this afternoon. With another driver back in the house, there is going to be some car shuffling and more chauffeuring for me. Ds did pick up dd14 from synch. practice last night, so that was helpful.

Today:
-I MUST go to the groc. store; with ds home, we have about 1/2 gallon of milk less than we did 24 hours ago. I'll need to buy more milk while he's here.
-garden clean up
-exercise?
-continue laundry catch up
-library: pick up a book on hold
-dd17 to Dr. appt. at 2
-dd14 to and from synch. swimming
-supper: pork in wine and cream sauce, rice, steamed veggie, perhaps a bread item
-Cmas shopping progress?

Good morning, villagers ~
I thought I was doing ok with holiday prep. However, this morning on the radio the weather forecast is for a blizzard that will start this evening. The good thing is that the really bad stuff is not supposed to start until after DH gets home from work.

We're ok for groceries. I need to find where DH left the snow shovel. This afternoon I need to return DVDs to the library and go to the post office. Not much else I can do to prepare.

Received an Email from DSisIL that DMIL wants everyone at her house for supper Friday. I want to go but it will depend on road conditions, how quickly the plows get everything cleared.

I slept a little late this morning. Board meeting with the sewing group was fun last night, just a social get-together at a restaurant and a little gift exchange. I only ate half of my grilled salmon and veg, so I can have the rest for lunch today.

Ah, it's time to make the coffee! :) Oatmeal sounds good for breakfast this morning.

Same deal here, Helia, except with two big-time milk drinkers here. Ds called dd last night while she was out to pick up *another* gallon of milk, as we were down to the last 1/2 gallon. I need to pick up more of Indiana's evaporated milk as I expect there may be mornings we're out of milk for coffee.

I have a temple bd meeting tonight and I need to do up the agenda and make plans. Other than that, some follow up stuff on my dsis to do, and the usual stuff. Haven't walked ddogs yet because I've been lollygagging and they are complaining of course.

So.....
-change clothes and walk ddogs
-get recycling out to the street
-refill meds containers
-meds + vitamins for me and ddogs

We had another rain in the night. I haven't checked the rain gauge yet. This will be the snow and storms headed toward other people.

DH has to get up and check the gutters by the bedroom. After it rains the gutters drip, drip, drip for hours. I'm sure there is something in them so all the water doesn't go down the downspout and just drips. It sounds like it is right by my head all night.

Off to paint. Catch up with you all later.

Things I wanted to say yesterday..

Bad dream at 3 a.m. had me awake yesterday and I realized I was so alert that I was thinking of things I needed to write down. So I just got up. Along with planning and an extra load of laundry, I deep cleaned the front bathroom. I got to the powdered cleanser stage on the toilet and realized while letting it set that I could not find my pumice stone. So I had to quit without finishing that. I suppose I left it at my parents' house last time I cleaned those toilets.

I had been able to post it was a dr's appt day for my ddad. Dr was unhappy with ddad's sudden loss of appetite. Ordered chest xrays and blood and urine tests because an infection or respiratory problem could be possible hidden or "silent" causes at age 94. Don't know when we'll hear back from those. Also froze a skin tag on his face right near his eye, yikes.

Small world - New young nurse (25 ? ) introduced herself as just arriving from Louisiana. I said some of her former neighbors were certainly popular on the airwaves in our area. She was delighted I brought them up, saying she's from the same county, and her family has known the Robertson (Duck Commander) family for decades. She says they are exactly the same as they appear on tv and neighbors there are happy about the program, which shows the community in a good light.

Later found add-on small gifts for 3 of the children Saturday, so I'm satisfied all 7 of those gifts are even-steven in value and appearance. LOL. Found more boxes and tissue. Found the plastic tac. Could not find the Pigma Micron Pen I wanted to add to a book gift. Sigh. I'm thinking I'll need to go to a craft store for that, and there isn't one close.

BookSaver, I feel behind on preparations, too, but you trump me with a blizzard headed in! Be careful!

Always said Nancy and I have similar weather, 3,000 or so miles apart. But to think our hens start back into lay at the same time, too!

Scarves - that's also what I was thinking about colors. Some scarves are quite wide and make quite a color impact.

Payroll wishes to everyone working today, with stresses of season and confusing clients and learning new things.

All best get-well wishes to Lilac's granddaughter.

Oh carp, I just remembered the neighbor we've had problems with in past years. He tells his guys who plow driveways to push the snow from the whole block into our yard. I have to try to find a phone number and call this afternoon to remind him that we have asked several times to stop.

We normally put the trash and recycle bins on the curb Wednesday nights. With a foot of snow and also high winds expected, I'm going to make it easier for the trash collectors by leaving the bins in the garage. They can skip us this week.

I've been working the past few weeks to get out the extra trash I found when I cleaned the yard and garage. We're almost back to normal, which for us is 1 bag of trash from the house plus whatever goes in the recycle bin. I would rather save it until next week than have to go out and pick up trash that has blown all over the street in a blizzard.

Harriet ~ I'm glad to hear the Duck Dynasty family are good people IRL. I do enjoy that silly show. I haven't watched the Christmas episode yet, hmm maybe I'll get to that tomorrow when I'm snowed in.

Dd2 and dgd16 were to be at the hospital at 6:50. I was going to offer to help out but she said dsonil was going to get the boys to school and the girls to daycare. Her ex had wanted the boys to go home with his wife last night so she could take them to school with her this morning. Plus every Wednesday night they have them. Dd2 didn't want to give up an evening with them and had already made her plans, so I stayed out of it. I had thought about going to the hospital for the surgery but I really don't want to be around her ex and all the tension that creates. I seen dsonil drop the boys off. Dd2 just called and they have just taken her in. He ex has meetings at 11:30 but he is going to cancel them. She needs to go to the shop to get an order for new bisque done. She wanted to know if I can stay with dgd16 while she goes to the shop, if her ex won't. So I guess I better get a shower, so I can do that. She said that they told them the only way she can go home tonight is if the pain is under control. They did not say that in front of dgd16.

Will ci when I can.
