Thankful Thursday

What are you thankful for this morning?

It is 10 days into the new year, are you still working on your resolutions?

I have a lot to be thankful for; 1) a job that I love 2) I am back in school 3) My kids are happy and healthy 4) I am doing good with my resolutions 5) last but not least, I have found the kindest most supportive corner of the web.

I over slept this morning and was having trouble getting going until just now. I now have about 30 minutes to get my bum in gear. It is going to be a very busy and long day today. I have work today and then class tonight from 6:30-9:30. When I get home I need to pack for this weekend. I have to go out of town for reserves.

Good morning, villagers ~

Today I'm going to stick close to home and deal with desk work and laundry. We are still waiting on the part for the leaking shower faucet, so I am still trying to reclaim as much water as I can to do the cold water laundry, rather than letting it all go to waste down the drain. I was telling DH last night that I wish we had a big rain barrel outside that I could have been dumping some of it into. In addition to the cost, it feels so wrong to lose so much water after the summer's drought. Hopefully the part will be at the store today.

Oh and DH is not happy -- he stopped at the store after work yesterday and found out they had forgotten to order the part. They were supposed to have called their warehouse Monday morning.

I'll make it to the post office this afternoon, maybe the ATM, but probably not much further.

Must spend at least a short block of time in the Focus area bedroom.

Today is laundry. All the food is moved to the RV, the appliances are cleaned and out of the kitchen and tomorrow is floor cleaning.

So far I have the sheets and pillowcases in the washer, and I think I have 3 more loads. I will make the bed when this load is dry and then use it to fold and sort the other loads. I will have my transfer basket on the bed and will pack it with clean, folded clothes to take to the MH.

I can't believe I am over a day ahead of my schedule. We decided we will leave on Monday as I really want to go to church on Sunday as we have missed the last two weeks (and will miss the next two while in Q).

Next up is to jump in the shower and get dressed. Contractor caught me in my jammies yesterday.

Dbro's knee replacement surgery went well yesterday. He spent the night in the hospital and I'm hoping will spend a few days at rehab. He wants to go home - but lives alone and I think he could use some TLC. He is as stubborn as his sister.

I had a great day.

Dear scattered - I haven't lost this years hopes for change - unless I refuse to work at them there changes/actions again. The way I see it I have til years end to get to see the proof of the pudding.
Unfortunately ... I'm needing to expend more focus and energy than I have these last few days,
Hoping to tick more boxes before months end.
Just begin.

I'm thankful for the sunshine today. Yesterday was a grey day and had 'grey' news too so it is nice to recharge my batteries. I need to be optimistic for my senior friend. The doctor called with a date for the surgery and I'm free that day so have volunteered to take her. Her ddil will have to handle post surgical care (and arguments since my friend doesn't see the need for anyone to be with her for the 24 hours after surgery.)

My energy level seems to be MIA. I skipped exercising this morning and ended up staying in bed 11.5 hours in total. And yet, I'm ready to go back to bed now that I'm s2s.

I just finished breakfast so maybe that will give me a boost. I might also have a cup of green tea to see if the caffeine will energize me. I need to have it early in the day or else I won't sleep.

As for resolutions, I'm doing pretty well since the focus is on health. I'm exercising regularly and counting my steps, recording what I eat,and am more thoughtful about what is being consumed (I'm avoiding gluten so I need to think about what is in the food I eat to make sure it doesn't have gluten - like the two packages of broth I bought!)

Think I now have the entire annual report (minus our treasurer's report -which will be done in the next week). Hopefully between the secretary and me we will get 'er done.

Now I'm going to put my toes up for 40 minutes. My legs have been down so much that I've had trouble with the left one swelling. (that's always the one if I'm to have any trouble (I broke it badly several years ago and of course the vein the length of my leg is gone for my quintuple bypass -19 years ago.)

DH has a Trustees meeting this afternoon -sure to stir some controversy. We had a meeting a couple of weeks ago for "urgent need to replace the sanctuary roofing". The building is less than 20 years old. There was question as we had voted for a steel roof and 1 in particular doesn't want that, so wanted a second opinion. (which is only right). So dh and his db went up there last Friday and discovered that only 2 nails are lifted and no curled shingles or anything. So, in their opinion after checking the whole roof, as new one isn't needed at all right now. Although, dh has stated in his report that he would encourage them to get someone else to go up there and check -someone who has no axe to grind. (DB was a contractor and does know what he's looking for). So dh had me type up his words so there's no misunderstanding his own words. So it'll be interesting to see what happens now.

Did have to laugh ((to self) about gd last night. Her ipod has been taken away for a week and she can't text or call anyone. So she's always "thinking". She asked dsonil, "I know I can't text or call but can I use my ipod to listen to my downloaded music". Dsonil told her she could listen to the radio. "Never mind!" Later she sat down at his computer and dd told her to ask her Dad. He asked what she wanted to do -"Facebook". Answer: "Uh, NO!" He knew she could 'chat' on that as well. Not happening on his watch.

Oh, and I"m THANKFUL that I have at least the 1st portion of my report DONE (she says hopefully).
Ok -off with toes up. BBL
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Grumble. I'm still not productive but started to enter the meal plan into Google Calendar. It isn't responding properly and each entry takes a minute or more. No way I'll sit here for a half hour to do that (it should take 5 minutes or less to do the whole month.)

I need an attitude adjustment.

What a photo, Nancy! I did NOT know that. I tried to name the chickens' breed before reading, but couldn't. I was thinking maybe Sussex (but they were too plump), did not think of Welsummer. Wish they'd have shown the oak coop.

Dd's school was on lockdown all morning because of a vague anonymous phone call reporting a "weapon". Turned out it was a knife, and may have just been a mistake by a student who kept his pocketknife in his pocket to come to school. Oh well, after two robo-calls about it to every home, all the students are now reported back on normal class-changing schedule. I'm glad the staff responds so decisively to anonymous calls, but of course they will often be from students, who may not be the best judge of how to warn or what to say. I'm so thankful this was over before lunch time, because dd is to have the use of some computers in engineering during lunch, and carried a "meal bar" with her to eat at the desk. This is to finish up a project that requires the school computers for the final parts, and she would have risked taking a "late" on it if she couldn't have gotten there.

Emptynester, I'm so glad your brother had a good experience with this. No, he couldn't possibly equal your ... ... resolve. :D
