Good morning, LynLee -thanks for getting us started!

Not sure what we're doing this morning after taking gd to school. Know we have to stop at the hardware store. Not sure if we're coming back here or going to see dbil/dsil. I do know tomorrow will be a multi-trip day. Have to pick gd up at dd's school, take her to her own school, meeting friends for breakfast, going to their house for a while, picking gd up early (at noon -early release day), dh has a meeting at 2:30 back on that side of town, taking gd then back to dd's school to meet dd's teacher friend. GD is staying at their house tonight and tomorrow night. Will pick her up and bring her back here on Thursday.

Spent a lot of time dozing yesterday and still slept a good share of the night. I have been awake since about 5am.

Definitely warmer than yesterday -had quite a frost yesterday morning. Haven't had much of those here this winter. We're getting complacent with days in the 70's & 80's. Do need rain.

Almost time to start thinking about the trip back north. DH will be going in about 5 weeks. I plan to go around May 1st. Depends on a lot of things. DD really wants to ride up with me and some will depend on when she can take time off. She wants to be able to spend a couple of days up there. Family is so important to her and she really misses her brothers & their families.

DGS7 months, discovered how to feed the dog from his high chair this weekend. Cute picture! How I love being able to share through today's technology.

Good Morning!

I went MIA when an opportunity came up to make a quick trip to see DGS6 and DGS2. LO and I left Sunday after church and came back home last night. We had a wonderful time.

It's back to normal routine for us today. At least, I hope it is. DGS2 had a cough and didn't feel her best while we were there. Guess who just started coughing in his sleep? I just gave LO some 12 hour OTC cough med and hopefully he will feel okay when the alarm goes off.

My day started off as it normally does, but then I had to go upstairs to look for something and decided to just go ahead and get d2s while I was up there, I then came down and got my lunch together and took my vitamins & meds. So now except for getting my coffee cups filled I am ready to leave.

I have to work in the West-End today and am rather tense since I got a cryptic text message from the full-time RN yesterday asking for my schedule and that she needs to talk to me...

I am having dinner with a DFriend I haven't seen in years tonight, I am really looking forward to it. Then I need to go grocery shopping.

Yes, that Brancusi quote is often where I am; it is not difficult to make (or do) something. BUT - "what is difficult is putting ourselves in the state of mind to make them." Or to do them. Someone's signature line here has/used to have a quote about starting something being significant to completing a project, maybe "half begun is half done." Getting the state of mind to just begin is more than half the battle for me. ..

Today could be a lot of out-of-the-house time again. Dd17 has a Univ. central campus tour this morning. Her bff is here right now to go with her; we'll leave in about 40 minutes. Another friend is meeting them there. I might stay for the info session but duck out for the tour and lunch, if the girls want to eat lunch on campus. Otherwise, I'll be out 9:30 - 2:00-ish. I did this all w/ ds a couple years ago; I doubt the buildings on central campus have changed much since then. I'll be out with dd14 from 4:25 - 6:15-ish as it is: oboe lesson and then drop her at the high school for synchro practice.

I must say, the school of art & design tour yesterday was very informative. I think this program is not for everyone as it is very broad and interdisciplinary. Every student must do every art form - metal working, fibers, woodworking, ceramics, painting, drawing, movie making, etc. There are no degrees/concentrations in a specific art form, like painting or drawing, though you can handpick your later courses to reflect your interests, I believe. There are no BAs in graphic design or industrial design offered, though a student may concentrate in those areas as they progress through the program. I asked how competitive students would be in the job market in those areas since they can't get a BA specifically in them, and the answer was that they do well in those areas (of course they say that), that the career office keeps contacts with employers and helps match students to their needs. Some companies may want broadly prepared employees. Some students do sr. projects in specific areas and get picked up by companies b/c of that work. I also don't know what grad schools like to see when they pick their students. . . . Anyhow, dd17 would think of dual enrollment (w/ double majors - art and another topic) if she did this program. When i told dd14 about the broad interdisciplinary approach of the program, she said, "That sounds perfect for me!"

Helia - I find it extremely interesting to read about the options your DD are considering.

LO to school. He was very clingy about me leaving. I suspect it is a combination of missing his naps the last 2 days and possibly coming down with a cold. Hopefully his day will go smoothly for him.

This morning I've downloaded some music with a fast heavy beat that we enjoyed this weekend. One of DGS6 & DGD2 favorite things to do is dance. DDIL puts the music on loud and they get a good cardio as they dance to the beat. It is good exercise as well as being fun.

Next up - round robins through the rooms. 3 minutes in each room should get everything picked up and put in its place. Grabbing the timer~~~~~

Knees acting up (playing on the snow hill with the kids on Saturday did them in) so today is another avoiding exercise day.

I did get up on time, though, and have done my SAD light (which I've skipped for the last 4 days or so and was getting cranky again so it isn't yet time to stop it.)

Kitchen is tidied up (and looks quite good, except for the table.)

I'm in search of the kitchen table and have made great progress. Also paid bills, handled phone call, and corrected dh on his conference call. I can only hear half the call so don't know what the others said but he had two fact wrong so those needed correcting. He's on a bigger conference call now and I'm not to interrupt that cuz it is a big deal. I'm off to the basement, in the hopes that his talking won't disturb me while I'm trying to work down there.

We learned interesting things with dd's Presidents Day math homework, which was to bring back something the teacher (yes, math) didn't know about a president. Did you know Alexander Graham Bell, along with inventor Simon Newcomb, devised a metal detector specifically to find the bullet lodged in the body of President James Garfield? It would have worked perfectly and might have saved his life, but he was lying on a bed with metal in it, which kept it from working. Bell and Newcomb were not aware of another new invention - the coil spring mattress - or that the White House had gotten some of the first ones ever made. Garfield, his doctors or others in the household may have known he was lying on the new type of mattress but didn't understand how the metal detecting invention worked, so didn't know it made any difference. So the attempts failed, and the doctors just kept probing with unsterilized instruments and fingers, eventually rupturing the liver, causing blood poisoning, and leaving infection behind.

OKay, is LO doing better these days with car trips, then?

OKay, dd recommends Mambo Number 5 by Lou Bega for a great, familiar hula-hooping beat, and I imagine the Radio Disney version with Disney character names would work well for the children. It was first recommended in her hula-hooping book by Ariane Conrad.

Sounds like Dee and Elizabeth were needing rest.

helia thanks for "thinking out" the art major and double major options here. The concept of having to dabble in every type of art is both interesting and frustrating to dd. I don't know whether it would send her to or from the art major idea. We seem to have the same Graphic Design situation here at our nearest University.

Good morning!

I will be buying groceries today. They are calling for snow beginning tomorrow and lasting into Thursday. Then snow again on Monday. That's as far as the forecasting goes. I may hit the store again early Sunday morning depending on what the forecast is. I don't mind being homebound as long as I have food.

Dh had intended on taking Friday and Monday off, so he could really hit it on the tiling. But yesterday they scheduled a meeting next Monday for the upcoming outage, that he will need to be there for. So he is going to take Thursday and Friday off. This weekend he put about half the membrane on the shower walls. He is not happy with how it adherred. He feels like it leaves a lot to be desired. So he is going to remove it and try again. This time he bought a different kind of thin-set and it is specially made for the membrane. They didn't have it when he bought the thin-set a few weeks ago. He decided he would rather redo it than have a problem when he tries to tile.

Conferences are set for this Thursday and Friday. No school is scheduled which is great, but I don't know how the turnout will be affected by the weather.

Dd2 has decided to start closing the store on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Then will be open Thursday and Friday from 1-9 pm, Saturday from 10am-9pm and Sunday from 1-5pm. Week after week she isn't making enough on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to open the door. My Dh thinks that she will run business off by not being open then. Well if they aren't coming then, how can she run them off? Besides it is her business and she can make her own rules. Her and her dh have decided if they can find a buyer, it's for sale.

Guess I better get a shower and get busy. Dgd3 will be coming here after dance class this afternoon. The young entrepreneurs class from the high school is coming to the shop for a presentation from dd2 and it will be better for dgd3 not to be there. Plus it will give me one on one time with dgd3.

I had started this earlier and dm and then dd2 had called. I "saved" this partially written and then had a hard time retrieving it.
