Re: Conga Friday

Post by DeeClutter »

It's not REALLY Friday, is it? If so, I have missed a whole bunch of Thursday! :o

Trying to get ready for the school run. Things sure are highly tense here this morning. The day for gd to head to the Youth Ranch can't come soon enough. Just a small example of what's happening here. Had to go the bathroom she uses for something yesterday (believe me it's taking your life in your hands to go in there or her bedroom -bedroom had a glue gun plugged in & hot for probably at least 2 weeks!) At any rate on the bathroom floor was a broken glass right in front of the vanity. We know that had to be at least done on Monday if not before. Pieces were spread on the floor. DD went in there last night and asked what that was -"A broken glass apparently!" DD -"Why is it on the floor -why haven't you cleaned it up?" GD -"BECAUSE I'M TOO LAZY!!! Don't step on the glass I've already stepped on it 5 times and cut my foot!! Why are you in MY bathroom???" We then went into the legalities of just whose bathroom it is. She has a very warped sense of ownership, etc.

Have Memorial Service at 1 for our dfriend who passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago. DD is getting out of school long enough to attend. Joy was a 2nd Mom to DD.

Time to run. Be back later today I hope.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Good morning, dear friends.

 Oh my, Dee and lucylee at cross purposes over whether we should allow Friday today, as Lynlee first suggested in her title! I admit, I'm torn myself! Let me think... ... perhaps time to change the title, lol.

Lynlee (or perhaps Dee) already did that before I got there, but Lynlee asked us to edit out the Friday quote she'd done. I did, but left her smilies intact! ;)

Thanks, Lynlee! We know you only pretend to make mistakes to make the rest of us feel better about all of ours!

I had a good healthy habits day yesterday, plus got a good night's sleep, so I'm feeling positive about the day.

Poor dd had to be at school early, then has a mid-term today, then plans to stay after. I know she will be weary.

Thanks for the father quote from Gary Oldman, who I think is inspiring in his personal life as a recovered alcoholic. He was directing that auto-biographical movie, Nil by Mouth (medical instruction for "nothing by mouth"), just blocks away from where he grew up, while he was portraying Zorg, the nutty villain in The Fifth Element. (Anybody remember that one?) He had realized that he had turned into an alcoholic like his father (which had ruined his family's life when he was young). He went to AA meetings to recover, then directed the movie, putting his own money into it (which he lost, big-time). But it won so many film festival awards that it gave him respect, and may be part of the reason we got to love him later in Harry Potter. "I was forced to say, ‘I have this illness and I suffer from this.’ I don't know many people who in some ways, their lives aren't affected by "the ism" - by alcohol and drug-taking and all those other things we put under the umbrella. I had to get clean to do it. I had to be in the solution, I couldn't be in the problem."

Oh, Dee, what a situation with the broken glass! It's got to be nerve-wracking to try to express simple reason, while worrying about the next mini-calamity. We forget how blessed we are when our children respond to us as we expect. Your dd and dsil have been so wonderful.

Time to get my ddad's breakfast. Then fruit breakfast for me, then brunch of veggie omelet. I cracked an egg slightly yesterday as I brought it in to the house, so will eat it fast. I'm not scared of it since I know how the crack happened, but I don't want to wait! Funny how you can get so disappointed in yourself when you crack an egg! :? :D Seems like if a hen spends so much time managing to give it to you, you should take cake of it!

So sorry if I startled Dee and Lucylee over a missing day.

Guess my brain jumped a few cogs since I came home from doing thursday things.
Wishing my computer said the day of week as well as the date and time.

today
garden. In the thick of a repeatedly mown down former bank of singapore daisy. It's stems and few leaves are hard to see among the buffalo grass. Ants have changed the soil level too so lots of digging required to try and get it out.
support group
few groceries.
walk dog
dinner and dishes

Waving to Harriet.
I'll try again tomorrow with the conga thing. Oh well.
Remembering the time
I went to see a dentist the day before the actual appointment
then totally forgot the next day and failed to show up.
goodnight
Just begin.

Good morning, villagers ~

"Try Again Thursday" is perfect for my day. Today I will be trying (again!) to get rid of paper. Yesterday's efforts were not very successful.

Today is also the day I hope to finally break down and buy a new cell phone. Mine is so old that the battery doesn't hold a charge very long. I don't want a fancy one because I rarely use it. However, I have so many minutes built up on the prepaid account that I'm going to see what the options are for internet access on an inexpensive phone. There are many times when I'm at a meeting site with no wi-fi available that it would be handy to be able to check for last-minute Emails and such.

I have so many minutes built up on the phone because I have to buy refills to extend the dates on the calendar even when I don't make or receive any calls to use up the minutes. It's a lot less expensive than any other service we've found ($15 per month) for such good coverage, but it's weird having a phone that shows over 5000 minutes available.

Woodcarving Week is going very well. I finished the relief carving and I'm starting on a totem pole (6 inches high). Pictures on the next blog on Sunday.

Dr. appointments on Tues and Wed have started a round of blood tests. I mentioned that DH's iron count was low when he tried to give blood at the Red Cross and apparently that was a big clue to what is going on. I'm wondering if it was such a big deal - why didn't they check his iron count?

He is out to breakfast with the boys so I will meet him at the hospital and bring him home.

Time to get going. TTFN

Well, I'm glad I'm slow to get to the boards. I'm having a hard enough time with time lately!

For a political junkie like me, I was trying to figure out which day it was in Australia because of a leadership spill (vote to depose a party leader, by her own party.) The prime minister stared down her detractors and won. Gotta love her nerve. She is going to lose big in the general election but still I'm glad she called the bluff of her caucus. Misogyny is strong in Australia - I remember Australian men on the cruise bad mouthing their PM but not attacking her policies or her methods (fair game) but how she looked and sounded. They felt because she was 'ugly' and dressed badly that she wasn't qualified to be PM and was a disgrace to Australia. Geez, she got elected so apparently enough people felt she had ideas and leadership qualities worth exploring, despite what she looks like.

I'm up. Had a rough night so got up quite late and cut my aerobic exercise short. Did almost all of my physio (skipped one.) The new one, called "dog peeing on a hydrant", is really hard and my hip was sore when I woke up and is still sore. I'm doing lots of extra back exercises as well to help counter-act the quad exercises.

It may be the second day of spring but it is still snowing here (we had a good storm on Tuesday, then snow yesterday and today we should get 4".) I'm tired of snow. I have a meeting this afternoon and was intending to do drop by Presbytery this morning but am not sure I want to go into the city in this snow since the driving is bad. Snow clearing gets spottier at this time of year because the budgets are blown and we all know that the snow will melt in a few days anyway. Not all away (there's a 5' drift outside the family room window and one can no longer get from the driveway to my front porch so people have to enter the house through the garage) but at least the roads will be clear in a week.

CUOP'ing because I miss ya. :)

:?: Question for apron users - Have you seen or used anything similar to the Roo apron? I just came across it and it seems to be a good idea, but I haven't seen/used anything like it. I'm thinking Mother's Day is just around the corner. :)

Okay that does not look like an apron I would use unless I was picking apples.

32* - 48* out temp. range today. Apricot tree is budding hope it does not get frosted this week. Too cold to enjoy outside as much as last week.

Today I've done my qt, journaling, chick & chicken chores are done I've had breakfast coffee & bed are both done.

The county road crews were working on our street this morning it was quite noisy out with the back up beeping and equipment and heavy trucks on the block a bit ago but they seemed to have moved on thankfully!

I'm feeling a smidgen better today so that is good news.

~Vent warning ~
Granny duty begins in a few min. three kids today no early release for dgson however. He's working on his 3 x and has been for 5 weeks now  h & I are both pretty exasperated at his inability to retain it and having to keep reviewing it each week w/out noticeable progress. I'm frustrated b/c we just get a thing down working and then the teach & dd decide to change it around ~sigh~ no wonder there is not consistency I think kids need it! I get tired of h's approach it grates on my nerves. ~sigh~ /vent over

Last night I did get to a bit of sewing and I put a pocket on the outside of a blue jean tote & I was pleased with the way it turned out yea!
