It's Easter Sunday morning!

Finally found this poem again, in a scanned April 2, 1931 newspaper.

Arise, oh soul, this Easter Day!
Forget the tomb of yesterday.
For thou from bondage art set free;
Thou sharest in His victory,
And life eternal is for thee
Because the Lord is risen.

Have been looking for it in a print source for years, since using it more than 20 years ago on bookmarks I made for a bulletin when I was a worship coordinator. Dear to my heart since then, partly because it was so obscure. Still no author to be found, but it was good to find exact early punctuation and wording in authoritative print. It had been published as part of a hymnal in 1938 with additional words, but the author of the original verse was unknown.

Good morning!

I'm up but not with it yet. So much to do for today's activities but I'm about all done out.

Friday night DSon came home and we teamed up to empty DMom's living room and deep clean it - windows, walls & everything hanging on them, and ceiling were all washed down, carpet shampoo'd, curtains washed & rehung, each piece of furniture turned upside down and deep cleaned before being returned to the room. It took us 4 hours to get it done. We probably could have done it in 3 hours but we had 3 little ones "helping" us.

Yesterday about a dozen of family showed up at DMom's to work. We didn't plan it. No one called and told anyone we were going to do it. Everyone just showed up on their own intending to work alone. DNephew brought his heavy equipment (dump truck, bobcat) which enabled things to go faster. While the guys were operating chain saws and the heavy equipment, I kept 6 little ones away from the activity to keep them safe. End result - FIVE dump truck loads hauled away. The guys took down a wood fence, demolished an old shed, cut down 4 trees and general cleaned up outside. After that was accomplished, DSon and I teamed up to deep clean DMom's bedroom. All furniture removed, ceiling/walls/windows washed down, curtains washed/rehung, carpet shampoo'd. After letting it dry we put everything back in place.....down to making her bed just like she likes it (she is extremely particular about every detail)

A few years ago, DSon put his credit card on file at DParent pharmacy so their meds are automatically charged to him. DMom wanted to move her medications to a local pharmacy so DSon and DMom teamed up and got that set up.

It was an extremely busy day. We all left plum tuckered out. DMom was passed thrilled and very very very thankful and appreciative for everything.

Today is Easter service at church. Followed by LO's Easter egg hunt. Followed by DH side of the family gathering at DMIL's.
then I'm going to sit down and never get up.
Well ....at least for an hour or two.

Woke to bright blue skies and sunshine this morning. The mountains look fantastic in the sunlight.

My blog is up and on time today. If you want to see pictures of the difference of having a young, strong man help with our yard work, check it out. I still can't get over the difference. It also has spurred DH and I on to do a bit each day to finish it off.

I've seen about a dozen Easter bunnies (or his cousins) out my window this morning. Most of them seem to be concentrating on making baby bunnies. The coyote population must be down as the rabbits are plentiful.

Time to start getting ready for church. We aren't going to the community dinner as the main dish is ham, which DH cannot have. I will see what to make him for dinner or we might go out.

Getting a slow start here - I took benydryl at bedtime and slept almost 12 hours, off and on, interrupted by ddogs and my own sleep habits. Was up around 9:50 and since have read the paper, started a lol and took ddogs for a leisurely walk so they could nose around all over.

I have a short list of some additional things I need to do today - some temple and some home related so we'll see what happens. I'm not ruling out a nap as well. Weather is decent for right now - sun in and out with Tstorms predicted for afternoon. Dd will head back to school today and also has laundry to do. I could ask why she didn't do it one of those days when I was at work all day, but I won't.

I think the laundry I started earlier is done, so I should get moving again:
-clear kitchen counters and wipe down
-reboot the laundry
-scramble an egg for a late breakfast, my tummy is weird and I'm not sure if it's sickly or hungry
-straighten GR room
-put pillows and fern back on front porch

Happy Easter!

Yesterday we decided to get 4 more chicks for the broody hens to foster that did not work one is left but doubtful it will make it the broody hens attacked those chicks! Lesson learned you can't fool nature. [ I'm sort of relieved that they did not make it one less thing to worry about I have enough on my plate at the moment.]

Today is lovely outside and I've been out to the hen pen several times.
We are planning our sod placement tactics and glad we were able to get a price on it where I've dug out the wrong grass will be a learning curve as we've not done that before! Wish us luck! Well h. & sil were both wrong I found long stakes for the fencing stuff and will get some for the garden area soon as I figure out where that spot will be.

I need to poof and get ready for church. I'm feeling better for the most part from the ear sinus thing but still lagging a bit in the energy dept. yesterday any way.

Happy Easter y'all

I am drinking my morning coffee from my new Betty boop coffee mug that Norma gave me right befor they left. It's tall so I am also using it for my other drinks as well.

Sweetie and I are going to Celebrate our Easter meal at the same resort as we did for Xmas. I'm looking forward to that. I have two more rooms to vacuum and Frances the First fish bowl to clean. Long story behind the name, but he was named that before the new Pope. My France's btw is a beta fish.

For the last few days I have been digging in my yard and working as a sub at my old school. Love it cause I have none of the stress and hassles and I get to see my friends. I can decide which days I want and which days I don't. Win/win situation all the way around.

Need to finish up around here. Okay...except for washing walls ...I'm doing my deep cleaning too. Would be nice to have a partner to work with. Before moving here I was living with my best friend. We would always team up to clean the house and yard. We'd turn up the music and have a blast. Best way I ever had cleaning a house.

DD was up and I am going to start her laundry in a few minutes - she is meeting friends downtown and mine won't be out of washer in time. Dh came in and he is going out in a bit to play tennis.

We had a very nice service this morning. Dd got a little bit of butterfly-tummy ahead of the service, but the pianist teased her and joked with her and got her over it. There were 4 men who intended to sing our special music with us and 3 didn't come. They may have been at the sunrise service, don't know. The one who did come decided he didn't want to carry the men's solo lines alone, and didn't join us! So we were women only, by surprise!

I realize that by that time, the church had already had one very early service, served a breakfast and had SS hour, and many were tired, but gee whiz! Anyhow, the most seasoned alto, whom I've known all my life, whispered to me that we would just sing the men's part ourselves. Although we were the only two who had a chance to say so, we all caught on. The poor pianist was buffaloed, though, just before the men's part, as she looked around and realized there weren't any so she missed several notes there. She recovered and we did fine. Hopefully, most people thought we were meant to be a women's ensemble all along!

I avoided the breakfast, which was heavily based on Bojangles biscuits! Dd indulged, however.
