Tuesdays are productive days, and sometimes we may spend them on one important chore. But if there's a group of elements - rooms, chores, cards - that need attention, sometimes we might want to round-robin them. Giving each an allotted amount of time helps! It also seems a bit more like a game when we have a timer set. "We can do anything for 15 minutes. ", for instance!

Harriet - thank you for the start today. I use Round Robin to do a quick pick-up/put-away in all the rooms of the house. I usually set timer for 3 minutes to work as fast as I can in that room before the timer goes off and I move to the next room. It is amazing how much can be done in 3 minutes!
Lilac - Yes, DMom, LO and myself made the trip to DSon's home this past weekend. DH had to stay home because of MPB. The person that usually works for us so we can go out of town was sick..
I'm going to be gone this morning (dentist) through 3 time slots. That is 3 hours of work that needs to be moved to another time......however there isn't any other time slots open. >>>STOMPING FOOT<<<< I seem to continually add more work instead of getting caught up.

Another short night. That's three in a row and I'm getting rather cranky. Last night it was cigarette smoke that bothered me. I booked a non-smoking hotel for tonight and will look at our NC hotel and change it if it allows smoking anywhere.
Am having my tea and chocolate. When I drive, I can bring a kettle which make making my tea better. If I could find a fold-flat tea pot, I'd bring one of those too but I really can't justify the space. It just occurred to me that I have my 16 oz mug with me so I could have made up both cups at once in that. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
Now to get the travelog written. I've been focusing on church work when I have time to write but we spent 30 minutes stuck on the highway yesterday so that extra time meant I got the writing done last night. Then church work took over while I was connected to the internet so I didn't get it posted.
I've been up for an hour or so and need to get crackin'. Want to go see a friend who is in rehab. She'll be heading to MI to recuperate in a couple of days so really need to see her and discuss the church office before she's gone. Really rather chaotic. She's the church secretary and I've been helping her and then filling in completely for the last 6 weeks or so. Next week our new pastor starts and it's also my last Friday here. So, it will be interesting how they decide to proceed for the summer.
Going to visit my db/dsisil tomorrow (overnight). Haven't seen them all winter and this is the first I've had a chance to travel up there -about 2 hours from here.
Changed our bedroom around a little bit yesterday. There's just too much 'stuff' in here. Of course it's our complete living space for the winter.
Round robin might be perfect for me this morning, Harriet! I will be doing a little prep in hopes of seeing a certain Canadian SHE this afternoon. I'm not going to overdo the cleaning though. I am a SHE after all! I AM very very excited to meet another SHE in person. Maybe some day, I'll just do a tour of the US (and Canada), kind of like the MTs, and visit all of you!
My other focus of the day is getting my teaching better fleshed out. This is turning into the sort of teaching where good questions are going to be the backbone; I want the women to see for themselves what I've discovered in the passage, so I need good questions to guide them. Knowing this group, they will discover what I've learned -- and more. And I will walk out Thursday morning having learned from them. That's how it seems to work on a good day.
Last night, I went to B and N w/ dh to work on my teaching, since it wasn't happening at home. I was able to get a framework w/ some questions down - and some fleshing out done. I will have some points I want to bring out under each question -- if the points aren't made by the women during the discussion time. I need to refine and finish that process today.
So far today, I have done initial puppy care, responded to some emails, and wiped down the stove top. The dw is running, since we didn't run it last night.
I'm going to tuck the puppy in her crate now so I can take a shower. She may not like that. Oh, well. It must be done.
On the road again. Haven't been away from home since October so both Dh and I had trouble remembering all the things to pack. We still managed to get out the door, just 20 minutes later than I had planned, so that wasn't bad at all. Although last night I discovered I left all my allergy meds at home. Thankfully we are still in Canada (they are OTC here so have an extra stop before we hit the road tomorrow.)
On the plus side, this is literally a road trip with our ultimate goal the Festival of Homiletics in Nashville, Tennessee, an 'easy' 16 hour drive from Ottawa. While some people will do that in one day and most in two, we are choosing to take 6 days to get there.
We started by driving north and even though I planned out the route, I still did a double take when we got on the highway by our home and I saw the road sign giving the distance to Ottawa. In fact, we left after church on Sunday, stopping at Eganville for an anniversary lunch at the Granary Schnitzelhaus and then through Algonquin Park, and dinner in Parry Sound, our stop for the night.
We were there to visit with my friend Brenda (now Rev. Brenda) who I met doing courses at Five Oaks. She is the pastor at Wasauksing – Shawanaga First Nation United Church, a two point charge near Parry Sound. I am a facilitator for the United Church's Comprehensive Review of our national church structure and am part of a team of 225 people who are hoping to have conversations with all 2300 United Churches in Canada. Brenda had signed her church up almost as soon as registration was opened so I saw her church near the top of the list and asked my team leader if I could set something up.
Most of these 'conversations' are happening via internet video conference but since Parry Sound added only 2 hours to the total trip drive time, I offered to do it in person.
We got to see Algonquin Park in spring. Everything is just bursting forth and it was a beautiful day so the vistas were lovely.

And I got to see Brenda! It was only a 3 hours visit but was wonderful. We met at the church at Wasausking, visited at the home of an elder who was the former minister there, and then drove up to Shawanaga to meet with people from the church there, meeting at the Reserve's health centre. I rode up in the car with Brenda and didn't notice how long the drive was because we were talking. Ken can corroborate that because he was following, saw me waving my arms so knew it was an animated conversation!
I'm really doing these conversations because I get to hear what is working for churches and what vision they have for themselves and the national church. It is very interesting to see the church from the eyes of different congregations across the country. Even if the national church doesn't listen (a distinct possibility) I'll have learned a lot more about what other congregations are doing well and the challenges they are facing.
We left Parry Sound after a quick lunch at Tim Horton's and drove on to Acton, Ontario, to visit Thomas, one of Canada's newest citizens. He was born April 29 and seems tiny to me but his mom says the stats prove I'm wrong on that count. He's lovely and alert and I had lots of fun holding and burping him. It was great to see Graeme, Wendy and the girls again. They were neighbours in our village and one of the many of our friends who have moved away from the village.
After a wonderful family dinner we moved on to London, Ontario for the overnight. The 90 minute drive stretched to over 2 hours due to our first run-in with bad traffic but it gave me a chance to get this all written.
Our hotel on Sunday had a great bed (the best in Parry Sound said the desk clerk and I believe him), a Tassimo coffee maker (which makes tea too but I'll stick with my kettle since the tea didn't impress me) and a fancy tv, but all that was inside a 1star motel with a Don Cherry's Sports Bar attached and our room overlooked the patio. Thankfully the Leafs weren't playing that night and no-one cared about the Senator game so we had amazing sleeps. Last night was a Ramada (probably 3 star) but we are in a non-smoking room inside the smoking wing. I booked a non-smoking hotel for tomorrow night and am reviewing other reservations to see if I need to change them.
Today is Ann Arbor (looking at a 1:30 arrival time at this point unless the border crossing slows us further.) Will sleep in Columbus tonight and North Carolina tomorrow night.
a.m. routine is almost done, though I should probably empty and reload dw to officially call it done.

I was awake before 7 am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so got an early start on my day. I still need to finish up in the kitchen and a quick pick up in dining room then finish with my hair and makeup. Dh has a dr. apt later this morning, then we'll probably do some shopping before we come home. The puppies are out of food and treats again and I need to get a couple of b'day cards and a wedding card. My ddil#3's dsis was married this past weekend.

Hello to Harriet, Dee, Twins' and all.
Speaking of this weekend, we thought that dfam#2 were not able to see us, but long about 4:30 pm there was a knock on the door and there they were! Ds had been working on a plumbing job in their kitchen, not helping his dcousin as I had thought...that is in a couple of weeks. Anyway, dh and ds went out for KFC for our supper as we had nothing cooking.
