Happy Birthday Friday

Post by DeeClutter »

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DHARRIET!! Wish I could be there to wish you one in person! Or to give you one big hug.

Dh and I have been up since 5:30 -neither of us are s2s. He has to shower this morning & remove the bandage from his angiogram yesterday. He did say this morning for the first time (that remembers anyway) his chest hurts. Not pain, just real sore after the procedure.

Supposed to be real hot again today. Figured we'd be in the hospital and missing it. We'll have to try to get to bed real early Monday night (so we can be to the hospital by 5:30 -means we have to leave by about 4:30. Yuk! Going to be a long day.)

Saturday is the walk for "Team Zoe" for our city's Children's Hospital. DGD18 is going to walk in dh's place. DDIL posted this morning that she plans to pull a wagon with a cooler full of cold water and for anyone to meet at their house to carpool in.

Need to put a long-sleeve top on for now. I'm sure I'll shed it fairly early. Right now we have the door open.

Going to do a quick pick-up. Then on to s2s. At least I'll probably have our home company ready for the next few weeks. That's a good fall-out! :)

Happy Birthday Harriet!
I hope your day is filled with wonderful moments and a good start on new birth year.

I have been awake since 2:00am. I gave up trying to return to sleep and got up around 3:00am. I needed the quiet time so the time hasn't been wasted.

This morning is my 2nd WW weigh-in. I have low expectations for any weight loss after having a disastrous eating day (during tornado cleanup effort). I ate 57 points that day. It's hard to make up for that bad of mistake. I'm prepared to count it as "lesson learned" and move on.

After the meeting, DGS16 and I are having one-on-one time together. Not sure what we will do with ourselves while he talks. Last week we ate out and bought him new undies, jeans, and bed pillows. Hopefully this week time together will just as enjoyable but a little less expensive. :)

Happy, Happy Birthday, Harriet!

I have decided I'm not going to make myself crazy running everywhere today. I am going to do the "must do" stuff. That is clean up for dcleaning lady, meeting at temple, a handful of must do errands, making challah, and back to the temple for services tonight. That's enough for today.

Gotta get rolling...breakfast, straighten up, walk dogs....

(((OKay))) Glad you are safe and the house was unscathed. Really glad your dh was outside and could give some warning.

You could move here but we get the occasional tornado (about 1 every 2 - 4 years) although usually very small. The snow and ice storms never take us by surprise but they do make life difficult for several days. Less damage than a tornado, though. We don't get hurricanes and our earthquakes are all barely felt. Our high temperatures are lower than Cowinkies by a long shot, and our cold temperatures are really cold but due to technology (heat, insulated homes, fur, wool, and hot drinks), manageable.

I'm up. I'm really slow moving today and the knee is troublesome while sitting. Still have to sit for a while and finish that pesky sermon. Promised lunch out to my senior friend.

I turned on the a/c this morning. It was running overnight (so I feel bad because I had opened up the house) and it needs to continue to run. Ds' room will be in the low 60's but my bedroom is pushing 75 and the sun hasn't come around to that side of the house yet. I'm in the living room on the lower main floor (3 steps down and it has the bedroom level above it) and it is colder than the kitchen/dining level (only roof over top although there are two trees that shade the roof well.)

The humidity is the problem. I have all the ceiling fans and the fan on the furnace running full time since moving air has a lower humidity level than still air. The a/c will be turned off at 11 when the electricity rates sore. Then it only kicks in if the house get over 82. Hopefully, the humidity level won't rise much during the day. The outdoor high today is only supposed to be 90 but with humidity it will feel closer to 100.

Overnight, the temperature and humidity didn't drop so the house never had a chance to cool down before bed. I had a rough sleep as a result. It will be worse once dh is home because there is an extra body in the bed and he doesn't like the fan on. The fact he doesn't like the fan on is the biggest complaint I have about sleeping with him. I'm hot even in the dead of winter (a function of age, I can also be freezing cold the same night.) But I can't have a fan on anything higher than low when he's home. Hopefully, the weather will break before Saturday night (we normally don't get long runs of this kind of weather.)

Good morning, villagers ~

Yesterday morning early we had a small group working on the book sale set-up for a couple of hours. In the afternoon, the library director gave me a list of items that had not been checked out in a couple of years, as candidates to be weeded from the shelves. I pulled 2 carts full, which I was told would be removed from the checkout system last night so we can add them to the sale today.

I tried to go the grocery store last night but we had another bad storm roll through town. I made supper from things I found in the pantry. Later in the evening, the sky cleared and I was finally able to turn on the computer and do a bunch of work. I also managed to do a critical load of laundry, to make sure I would have clean outfits to wear the next couple of days. It was nice to relax at home a few hours before bed.

I only made it through half the weeding list yesterday; I'm going back this morning to see if I can finish it. They are only open until 5:30 today so might not have time to finish processing everything to sell, but the task needs to be done anyway. Need to make space on the shelves for new books coming in.

I'm taking a little lunch with me so I can continue working this afternoon. We are in good shape for tomorrow's book sale, but there are always final rearranging things to do to make it look more appealing, and I'm not sure we have enough signs around the room.

Must remember to drive to the bank to take out our starting change.

I'm going to finish this cup of coffee before s2s. Then it will be time to hit the road.

Happy birthday, Harriet!

So glad that tornado did not touch down any closer to Okay and family.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRIET!

Waiting for dd1 to be available to walk. Then I will mow. It is not bad but needs to be mowed 1-2 days before putting on the weed killer. Dh said he will do it. Yeah! After reading all the precautions on the instructions, I didn't want to do it.

This afternoon I will need to buy groceries.

Tomorrow dd2 has to attend a bridal shower for her dhs niece. She will take the 2 little girls to it. I will be taking both boys to ball practice.

Guess I better get my clothes ironed so that after walking and mowing, I can shower.

I need to make a grocery run too at some point today. Think I'll wait until the heat builds and then enjoy their AC. Hmmmm...my AC just turned on and the door is open. Guess I best shut that off first. At least I can wait a little while before turning it on. The temp is climbing in here, but there's still a breeze coming in the screens.

Dh is insisting on trying to do the walk tomorrow. Which means I would have to go as well as he can't even drive before Sunday. The parking will be horrendous. If he goes with ddil, he'll be forced to stay there. There's all sorts of happenings besides the walk. More a kids' carnival atmosphere.

Want to spend about 10 minutes sprucing up our deck. Friends are bringing dh a chaise this weekend for him to use (we hope) this summer. If he can sit still long enough. At least they gave him a bigger picture of what he should be able to do at 1 month, 2 months, 3 MONTHS, etc. Showing him this won't be a week or two recuperation. He's never had to recover from something quite this long -not even the heart attack he had in '98. He's a workaholic and a hard man to keep down. Hopefully his discomfort level and tiredness will slow him down some. He'll probably still say, "I don't understand why I'm so tired". :?

Edit: Must be I didn't hit "submit" -this sat here quite a while -at least through 2 long phone conversations. ;)

Woke up a bit tired and grumpy this morning. I went to bed early-ish last night, before ds and dd17, a bit before 11, however, Maia yapped and cried a lot when she was put in her crate around 11:10. I waited a while and finally got up and told her no. She yapped a little more, but not as heavily. She then continued to let out the occasional yap until 12:40, at which point I got up and let her out. I was not a happy camper. She happily went outside with me, and proceeded to. . . .lie down on the walkway. I put her back in her crate, she went in happily, and there was not a peep heard from her until 6:45 this morning. :?: I wonder if she just needed to know that I was around? Maybe she is thrown off with dh out of town?

Dd17 wasn't up at 7:17 this morning. School starts at 7:40; the girls need to leave the house around 7:20. So, I yelled that we were leaving in 3 minutes, and if she wasn't ready, she'd have to get her brother to give her a ride. I'll be darned if she wasn't in the car with us ready to go at 7:21. Her hair was a bit of a mess, but it is long and curly anyway, so probably it wasn't very noticeable. And my girls are not the types that care a lot about their appearances, so no one is going to notice that she didn't style her hair or put in her contacts or put on make up - b/c she never does those things anyway. She has even reverted to wearing her glasses instead of her contact lenses. My girls still do not own any make up. Dd15 might have some lip gloss that synchro required, but she only wears it for synchro shows. I think at this point it would be more than OK for them to have make up.

I took them this morning (ds has bee kindly taking them since he's been home) and then just popped across the street from the school to the park where dh and I jog (the park connects to the arboretum where we often start our jog) and got in a 30 minute jog before it got too hot.

I did some errands after I got home and got cleaned up: WW - down 1 lb. Slowly but steadily, I am shrinking. LOL! I went to the nearby Target and got some items on my list - but not everything. I'd like a fanny pack to wear at the race Sunday so I can have some small items with me at the finish line. Also, I found some decorative pillows for our sofa that dh actually likes (I took photos to show him; he has opinions and cares about what goes in our house) at the other Target in town. Unfortunately, this Target does not have those pillows.

I feel overwhelmed if I think about the things I am regularly not getting to and the things I need to do before we leave on Tuesday. I can feel like I'm drowning; in the meantime, the puppy needs regular attention, dd15 needs a lot of driving around, and we seem to always have people and friends in our home. Dd17 will have people here from 2:45 - 6:00 today, dd15 has a friend coming over tomorrow, we are hosting small group tomorrow -- and it goes on and on. Babysteps. I'll try to focus on little things I can do each day.

Next:
- finish a.m. routine

I think I'm tired. maybe I'll try for a nap. That feels "wrong" but maybe it is OK. . . . .I have been missing sleep getting up with the pup regularly.
