MONDAY MARVELS

Post by DeeClutter »

Wonder if I can pull off some "marvels" myself today! I'm up early, early because I heard dh up and remembered I hadn't made coffee. But, dh had already made some. Sweet guy. But now I'm awake. I'll try to stay up & awake ALL day (now that would be a marvel in itself!)

Plan right now is to take some b enadryl about 7 tonight and go to bed. Have to be out of here by 4:30am tomorrow. Was lying there planning meals for today. We had quite a bit of chicken left from our barbecue yesterday & we tore it off and I'm making chicken salad sandwiches for lunch. Dh will just have yogurt again for dinner -trying to keep his tummy as empty as possible before surgery. Know he'll be on liquids for a few days after. He's just anxious to be on the other side of all this at this point. But glad to finally having it done.

Hope Ken's computer righted itself last night, Kathryn.
I feel kind of violated, to be honest.
That's a very valid feeling, Helia. Know that's been my 'feel' whenever something has happened that could be considered 'criminal'. And btw, I agree with Kathryn & Harriet -at least report it. You can just call the non-emergency number.

Cool out this morning -54. Sure didn't need the AC last night.

Ewwww -have starlings flying into our windows again. We have a lot of window space so there's lots for them to hit.

I am marveling at Dee's marvelous morning.

It's the start of the 3rd Round for Focus Cleaning today. Back to the Porch and Entry! How do they look?

There is a lot for me to check today since we've been in "houseguests are coming" mode a while, and also I realize I forgot a birthday so need to send a belated card. I need to take a look at Desk Day for both households just to be sure I'm on track. I need to bring the house back to normal and admit to all the "footprints". Both HRH and dd14 have friends who may come over this afternoon and my ddad is already "company-ed out", lol.

I exercised for 15 or 20 minutes yesterday evening but that's certainly not enough. So I need to either get in a little more this a.m. or plan a good session tomorrow and get other things out of the way in advance of that.

Just waving in to village before I shut the computer down for the night.

Its cold here tonight. Clear night skies in winter do that. (Its all relative - though with unheated house I'm looking forward to a hot shower to warm up.)

My cold continues to improve. Nose has stopped running. throat has lost the feel of razor blades.
Walked 3k as sun was sinking. Its not long til shortest day.

Did some extra clean up in the kitchen tonight.
Just begin.

WTG exercising last night, Harriet!
Love your cheery attitude this morning, Dee. That has got to be helpful for dh too.
WTG Lynlee for walking! Shortest day. . . We're almost at our longest.

Lily had a decent night after all. We closed her in the kids' bathroom w/ her new litter box, partially b/c we weren't convinced she was going to use a litter box and we wanted to control the surfaces she might mess on. She did use it last night, so that is a huge relief. She ate the rest of her wet cat food, so that is also good. I'm sure she is not eating enough, but she is eating some. This morning, she made it up the stairs and crashed into the baby gate at the top (it's there to keep Maia out) while attempting to jump it as she used to do. I opened the gate for her, and I'll be darned if she didn't walk straight to the door and sit there meowing, asking to go outside. No way!

I got all the morning meds done for her, except one eye ointment. I'll have dh help me in a little bit. I put her in the living room, so she could visit with her buddy Pepper. I also thought the commotion of the family in the morning might be a nice distraction for her. She even hissed and growled at Maia. So, overall, I am encouraged! Yes, she is young, Harriet, almost 4 years. I suspect this will be a rough few weeks here, esp. if she needs to have her eye removed. But once we're through these weeks, I suspect (and hope) she'll quickly recover and get back to normal -- or her new normal. Dh was talking to our pastor on the phone last night, and dd17 asked dh to ask our pastor to pray for our cat. He said he would. :)

We'll hold the vet receipts, just b/c I do that anyway, but I doubt we're going to be knocking on any doors. Maybe I'm a wimp, but I think the time and emotional energy that would be needed to find and confront whoever did this is greater than I or dh want to expend. Maybe I will call the police just to let them know. Dfriend S thinks we should pass out flyers in the neighborhood and find the person too.

Too much to do today. And I'm currently stuck in the kitchen on puppy duty. I can't unload the dw b/c it didn't get run last night, so it is running now. I'm not so stressed out about the todos now, though. Things always look better in the morning. :)

Hope to have lots to report later!

Finally managed to get s2s, bed made, breakfast and all that done. Picked up the living room. Just partially filled out dh's disability papers. Some questions I simply don't know the answers. Dh will take them down to the office later to get their part done and then I can send them off to the Dr's office. Need to get it done TODAY! That would be one more marvel done.

Now I'm going to work on the church council minutes. Not knowing what the next week will bring, I want to have them done before I head into it.

At least there's no dishes to do this morning and dh is eating light so will have very few tonight. Had the furnace on again this morning. :? Hope it warms up enough that at least I won't need that running.

Hope you continue to see improvement in Lily, Helia. Exercise, Harriet? What's that? I know -I really need to get on that wagon. Thinking if/when dh starts rehab -if he can go to the gymn where we usually go, I will at least go do some walking on that track and use the recumbent bike -even perhaps a few other pieces of equipment. Sure wouldn't hurt!

I'm up but not s2s and haven't exercised. Dh got up and did his morning routine and is eating breakfast now. He'll head into the Apple Genius Bar when he's done. I should stay home but if he asks me to go I will since he comes with me on such errands when I ask.

The computer won't boot at all. We just get the alarm. This computer rolled out of warranty a few weeks ago, but also received a new motherboard (logic board in Apple speak) in January so it is still (barely) within 6 months of that install. Hopefully replacement parts have warranties. It is a really bad situation except dh spent all day yesterday working on the 1000s of photos. So he's lost all the purging work he did (raw photos are still on the camera) but he didn't do much more than download the 400 emails that arrived while he was gone. Since he backs up fully before leaving on a trip, very little work has been lost if the computer is unrecoverable. It has a solid state disc drive so if the drive is corrupted, no data can be recovered.

Ds was up at 8 and headed off to the ski hill to train for Spartan Races with a buddy. Then they are going to go outdoor rock-climbing because one of the sides of the hill has climbing points (and because they are ski patrollers, they are allowed to use the hill during off season.)

He'll be back for dinner. Which I have to start NOW!

helia, I only hoped you would stay aware, so that if someone knocks on YOUR door (parent with apologetic child, other neighbor with their own bad news, police officer) you will be able to quickly state that you had X amount of quantifiable loss from an incident on X date. In your position, I would not be likely to go around the neighborhood trying to get info either, no. Although your friend is closer to the situation and may have a point.

Lynlee, I hope you keep feeling better.

I've cleaned the front bathroom and straightened all the front rooms of the house. I believe little britches had a moment of potty confusion and used the plastic trash can beside the toilet for number one, considering it a second stall, perhaps? :| Extremely cute little people get away with murder with Grandma, however. No worries. Not a drop on the floor, have to give him credit.

Dd14 is out of school at 12:15 every day this week, staying in only one teacher's classroom each day for finals. But I can accomplish a quick school run without worrying (and hopefully without even alerting) my ddad. It's a very fast trip. If he's awake and alert, I can just suggest he ride with me. 3 girls are going to use the after-exam time today in 1st period to study for 2nd period exam - I hope that works out.

I see. I misunderstood who would be doing the door-knocking Harriet. :) Good luck to dd14!! Ds did exactly what little britches did when small. He did it at our friends' house. . . .

Glad you sold the trailer, nancy! Lol at being cranky w/out the fun part. . .

I am s2s-ed, have done more puppy and cat care, made the bed, teeth have been cared for. I am leaving here in a few. will bring a book this time. Wait time here is often long. . .

I'm now bleary eyed. Have worked just about 2 solid hours on the minutes for the next council meeting. Now that I said that, I realize I haven't done the minutes for the Board of Christian Ed. I will be bleary eyed for sure! Want to send them on to our pastor as she had a huge part of that meeting for a special project and I want her to make any corrections. Also noted that there's a congregational meeting coming up so called our moderator, asking her to give me a heads up so I know when that meeting will be. Want to be sure to be there -and make sure someone is here to stay with dh if it's at all soon. Want to see if someone will come stay next Monday evening so I can attend the meeting. I think dh will only be home for a day by that point.

These birds (starlings and robins) hitting our windows is giving me the creeps.

Think I'll take a break from the computer and rest my eyes and then get back at it. Wasn't planning on this taking so long today. It was a pretty lengthy meeting so I guess I'm not surprised.
