Steady Tuesday

Post by BookSaver »

Good morning, villagers ~

It's one of those days when I just need to keep working steadily through the day to keep up with everything.

Good morning! Are you prepping for your maybe camping trip today, Bookie? I saw you have your sewing meeting tonight.

It sunny, clear, and not too hot here this beautiful morning!! Dd17 has left to take ds to work so she can have the kid car today. I am picking up ds but forgot to ask when. . .

I've unloaded half the dw, put away dishes in the dish drainer, had a mug of tea, and I'm currently on puppy duty. She was hyper earlier, broke off a piece of dh's schefflera and tried repeatedly to climb into my lap while I sat on a chair, but she is calm right now, chewing on Pepper's deflated soccer ball, one of Pepper's most favorite toys.

I was mortified last night when I realized that at least one person used the non-cleaned kids' bathroom downstairs. Dh said he didn't make any general announcement once everyone was here; he did tell individuals as we were hanging out in the kitchen before the meeting. Cringing, I went into the bathroom to put something away - and realized that it was not as awful as I had thought. The toilet wasn't even particularly dirty. Either a guest wiped down the toilet, or it just wasn't as bad as I thought. Since I'll never know, I'll go with the latter belief since it makes me feel better. One of my goals this summer is to teach the kids how to clean the bathroom and then that will be one of their chores, hopefully. I know - I'm woefully late teaching my kids this. It is one of those things that sort of got missed in raising my kids. . . .

I'm going to call ds and then get on with my a.m. routine.

Hi, Helia. Camping prep -- just checked the forecast for the weekend and chance of rain/storms had increased to 30%. DH is making noises that if it's going to rain at all, he doesn't want to bother with the tents. I guess I'm ok with that. Having 1 or 2 other campers there will be enough to get us a fire ring, so we can take our lawn chairs to sit around the fire and visit for a long time after supper. (They decided the family picnic will be for the evening meal.)

Sitting around the fire in the fresh air is the best part of camping, as long as there's enough mosquito repellent to go around.

DH might still want to camp if work goes well this week and there's any chance he can get home early on Friday. They've been pretty busy, though, so that's the same situation as the weather -- wait a few more days and see what's happening then.

Today I'm finishing the laundry and prepping for tonight's meeting. Waiting on a financial report from the Treasurer and a membership update. Need to print agendas. As usual, I'm behind on filing a stack of papers in the notebooks.

I'm up and at it.

Bed is made. Dishwasher is emptied, kitchen counters are tidied. There are three muffins baking in the counter-top oven (I made up a batch of refrigerator muffins last night.)

With all the food that was made last night, I don't have to think about eating today, I just have to reach into the fridge and pull out: muffin dough, soup, cut veggies and hummus, pork stir fry, chicken stir fry. There's also a banana on the counter that may be made into a meal since I bought it ready to eat.

I'm adjusting to eating 6 meals a day. Since dh doesn't eat lunch and because I'm making almost all my own meals, the only one that effects him is dinner, and then I just have a half serving of whatever he makes and then save the remainder for a lunch the next day. The downside is that I'm never hungry so I'm never in the mood to plan meals. Dh requires me to plan the meals and make sure the groceries are on hand, he just does all the cooking for me, as ordered. Now that I'm not ordering, he's having a hard time figuring out what he wants. Hence the pizza the other night.

My GP's office called to follow up on the note they received from the hospital that I needed a gall bladder referral (they are running a bit behind!) I phoned the surgeon to book my 4 week appointment but they are closed today so left a message.

Like Helia, we have sun today which is nice to look out and see. I'll spend some time on the decks today.

Muffins are now cooling so I should get ready to enjoy them with my tea. That will be my first breakfast. Lots and lots of fiber in the morning in order to keep things running well.

Good Morning!

I am back on schedule today. It feels wonderful to have a regular day.

I just ordered LO new jeans from Amazon. I'm been delaying buying him more clothes however he was down to 2 pair of decent jeans. That meant If I missed one day of washing clothes, we were in emergency status. We bought DH some dress clothes this weekend and LO picked out a new pair of boots. The last 3 times he has been in western store he has consistently picked out the same pair of boots. I didn't buy the boots because his boots are still in good shape & fit. I did tell him we would discuss it next month when time to buy school clothes.

Dd1 and I have walked. I have had breakfast and meds. I need to iron something to wear today. Dd1 invited me to lunch with her, dgd16 and dgs19. I am hoping that dd2 doesn't call in a jam and need me to watch the kids. Guess I better get busy. We are going for an early lunch before it gets busy.

I have been extremely slow (but steady) moving today. Didn't get up until well after 8, but barely slept last night. Dh was up before me and had the heat on. It soon became too hot for me and I kept going outside to cool off. Now this is a reverse of roles. He says he feels a lot more aches & pains today. Let's see -surgery was 2 weeks ago today and he's probably been up too much -and out. We did stay away from the pot luck dinner last night. Too afraid of being in a closed environment with lots of people. Some people (namely 1) don't really understand that. Little different when he's outside and sees one or two.

Need to go up to the store and pay for milk dh got this morning. Also am breaking down and buying a paper for dh. Tried an online subscription, but even I have a hard time navigating it. I notice he's using it less and less. So will call and cancel that subscription.

Have re-made the bed (how we get it so out of shape is beyond me!) and did the dishes. Think I'll make that trip to the store and think about what to do next.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Getting a late start today, seems to be my usual MO, although I have been to Lowes for some hardware stuff. The guy who does repair stuff at temple is coming within the hour to hang three items for us on walls/windows.

I'm working on a "Must do" today li&t. I'm put out (already today!) with temple secretary who is acting like a prima dona this morning about things that are already her job.

Started writing this hours ago. The guy is here hanging up stuff and nearly done, I've done two temple emails about issues.

Nancy: I'm spoiled. I only buy laptops with full keyboard and a keyboard pointer (which limits me to Lenovo.) Last time I went to change computers, I looked into a Netbook but they aren't much smaller than what I have. My Lenovo is now 2.8 years old and still more than fast enough, so a used one of those might be an option.

There is a Samsung Galaxy pad that has a keyboard that fits overtop like a cover so you can use it alone, as a pad, or with the keyboard, more like a netbook. But it is only marginally smaller than my laptop and does only about 30% of what my computer can do. With my laptop there is no compromising, including storing music and photos as well as all my church files so if someone asks me a question while I'm away, I have the answer with me.

Dh is getting used to using his Galaxy Note phone with an Apple bluetooth keyboard (he uses that with his large-sized Mac usually.) He was even wondering about leaving the computer at home during the cruise. He got by without the computer during Peru.

Since I'd have to buy and learn to use, a whole setup and my laptop is so tiny to begin with, I'll stick with it for the foreseeable future.
