Hummmm, looks like my puttering yesterday wasn't real work! I did actually get a lot of things done along the way yesterday. The quote is from my Franklin planner quote for the day.

Today is real work - prep for tomorrow (thank goodness we're not hosting those huge gatherings we used to have!) and getting dmom to the doc. This will probably involve shots in shoulders for pain.

Must be out of here in a little more than an hour....

Good morning, Twins' Mom! That quote makes me think of Esse Quam Videri, the "most quoted (Latin) state motto" they say, the motto of NC, which, in Latin, means, "To Be, Rather Than To Seem". In a way, sort of generic, but then applies to everything and certainly, as Edison says, to work. Sometimes I am working along for this family of mine, and ask myself why I'm doing such a careful and complete job, when others might not have a clue and I could certainly short-cut. But I'm really the homemaker here - I don't just seem to be!!! (And I'll be the homemaker later, when "short-cuts" would come home to roost!)

I think all the handle and name trouble yesterday was Kathryn's fault and mine. We started thinking alike and stepping on each other's initial posts yesterday and just caused a domino effect through the day!

Well, that was my fruit breakfast break in my new plan, following Morning Dailies. Now to Declutter and Focus until 9! BBL

I have one day to prepare for my guests tomorrow. I don't have tomorrow morning because I'll be working at the church office.

I seem to have sold the fireplace. Someone asked for my number so she can send her dh to pick it up. There doesn't seem to be a negotiation on price. Woot!

I'm going to have to be online regularly to check email but not to play.

Oh, I'm SO happy to see Latin on the board!! Videri must be passive as I believe it is from the verb videre, to see - in active form, the same word from which we get video, etc. I can check with dgirls after school.

Up early and have kept busy but don't feel there is much to show for it. Thinking of Edison's quote. .. Hmm.... By his definition, many things I do as a mom are not "real" work b/c they don't produce anything - at least not anything tangible, like driving kids around to their activities or having an in-depth conversation with a child. However, I think such things are just as important as "real" work - or perhaps they can be seen as pieces in the larger real work of nurturing and raising a child.

We live on the West Coast and are Pacific Time. My insurance co. is on the East Coast, in a different time zone. They phoned us at 6 a.m., while we were sleeping. DH was so angry, he told them to call back later. I'd gone to bed at 10:20 p.m., so had had my sleep. I told DH it was MY phone call and HE should have given the phone to ME. THEN, a huge clap of thunder came, so we are UP! DH = The ins. co. says my dr, needs to write a letter of predetermination as to why I'd need a Hep C screening, even though the CDC is requiring or suggesting ALL Baby Boomers get it. I emailed my nurse, to let her know. We'll "see" how it works out.

DH and his dfriend get firewood today, but with T-storms, we don't know if the T-storms will be over with by the time they get wood, nor if the woods will be too wet for them today.

Later, I'll be in the dental chair for 3 hours to get a molar build-up and Cerec crown put on. While the crown is being carved out digitally, I'll have a 30-minute wait in the dental chair to read, so will take a good book.

Oh, I need to run. I have my timer going to let me know when to eat, after my Synthroid. Needs to be an hour. I need to see if my time's up yet.

Ah, it's all work, don't you think?

I got dailies done in record time. We haven't had much work for weeks and my desk chores are half what they used to be.

After 2 good days, I crashed yesterday afternoon and spent too much time sleeping. Ended up with a headache. Last eve. was our committee meeting. I came back here with my notes to do my minutes instead of waiting for a month...last month I did them early and noticed how freeing that was to my brain load.

Looked at that website yesterday, the lemon one...way organized person there. We would all be like that and our homes would look like that if we only worked the systems we have in place. We all have either cards or planners and P & P system, so in my opinion we don't need another plan...we just need to work the plan! Me included.

Good Morning!

The first 4 hours has went well this morning. As I was on my early morning walk, I kept hearing Jack (DBro old horse) coughing so I called DBro to make sure he would "put eyes on Jack" today. I can't see anything wrong with Jack but my eyes are not well trained in picking up signs of sickness in livestock.

For kicks I timed how long it took me to dust mop the entire house this morning. I was surprised to discover it wasn't quicker than using the vacuum. It took 14 minutes to dust mop but only 10 minutes to use the vacuum. The dust mop method does wipe the base boards and get underneath furniture so the area covered is a little more.

I will pick LO up from school in 30 minutes for an appt with his counselor. I am still struggling with processing emotions from events I can't do anything about. I will speak to counselor about it (without LO in room) and get her recommendations on how to proceed.

At 10:00, the crossroads moment, I had my brunch and made myself a smoothie. So I was a little late on my 3-hour TOTHing.

I've done all the chores: An hour of Morning Dailies, fruit for breakfast (apple today), declutter, some Focus cleaning, exercise, healthy brunch.

I'm learning as I go along, and may rearrange. Also, of course I'll need to be flexible. I already know that some declutters or Focus times will take longer than others, if there is a chore that needs more than 15 minutes of dedicated time. Usually I can divide up the days pretty well.

So that's my school-schedule-change experiment report. Thanks, Nancy and Ivy.

OKay, thanks for your timing experiment reports. It gives me confidence in switching my chores up as needed, when I see that others find different ways are not such a big deal! I'm so glad you will have an opportunity to talk to the counselor today. Hope Jack just has a minor complaint.

My goodness, Harmony is spouting excellent wisdom and quote-ables today! Getting ahead of the transcribing is good for her, I believe.

That makes me think of Dee, who is another villager who types up minutes, etc. I hope she and Mr. DeeClutter are doing well.

Lynlee, I'm glad you're feeling better - if you think it was the med, it probably was, since you are pretty attentive to your diet, etc.

Twins' Mom, you're smart to think of the 4 moments as a whole as you consider wardrobe decisions, and also what responsibility/placement you will have at those times. I'm sure you'll feel confident. Hope the shot(s) aren't too painful for your dmom.

Ivy, that is very up-to-date dental work you are having - how technological! Hope it is an easy appointment.

Emptynester, I couldn't figure out from your post which side you and the nurse came down on. But whichever opinion you hold is likely the accurate one, since you're paying closest attention overall. Hope you can convince her easily and move on to what's needed or not needed.
